I was given Rainfords Surveyors number by the Estate Agent of the house we were looking to buy. Right from the start, Steve was very professional and very approachable. As I know nothing about the subject I found him very easy to talk to and he explained his approach in laymans terms and explained how the service worked. He sent us the info on the company and charges quickly by e mail and arranged a date to carry out the survey a week later. He was happy to receive any questions we had beforehand about any specific issues we may have after our initial viewings of the property so he could look into these on the day. We paid for a full building survey as it was an old house we were looking to buy. He did explain beforehand that in very unusual circumstances, he may call us on the day from the property with any immediate concerns. This turned out to be the case with us. The house was an old Victorian terrace and had a number of concerns. Although we were disappointed with the findings, we were so rest assured that he done such a meticulous job. He sent us the survey within 24 hours and his results were very professionally presented. Suffice it to say we had to withdraw from purchasing the house. Steve was late to our appointment. I had to contact him to chase my report, which he stated I would have in a week but didn't recieve until 9th day later after chasing. Down-valued my property, stating the comparisons were better despite one of the comparisons he presented was a similar semi-detached 2 bed-property that sold for £6,500 more. When contacted him to discuss the valuation further, he was very unhelpful and couldn't expand on his rationale. I would not recommend this company.
