Terrible Experience - Shocking attitude to customer safety and their vehicles. - Workmanship poor, newly painted wheels have what the Managing director describes as old bead material trapped underneath the paintwork. - Manager of company is extremely Rude, as he gets Upset and challenges me loudly outside on the Public highway due to my use of the word feeling gobsmacked in my email sent describing how I felt about the quality of my refurbished wheels. - My SAFETY was compromised numerous times. Firstly when my tyres were put back on my wheels after they were refurbished the employee damaged a tyre and fits it without owning up. Then a week later I visit Platinum again and they incorrectly diagnosis why my front tyre is losing a massive amount of air. I was sent on my way after being told it was some dirt in the value hole when the tyre should have been removed and checked correctly. After returning for the third time the workshop supervisor informed me my car tyre had been damaged by them and was too dangerous to drive and would need to be replaced the following day but then changed his mind about a courtesy car offering as he subsequently found out his courtesy car was already booked out. Then yet again another visit for the tyre replacement only for them to leave my locking wheel key on the front wheel. Which was lost. They didn’t seem to care and would only pay for its loss if I agreed to not write any comments online. - Company employee uses the word C__T in front of me to describe the original employee who butchered my tyre. When I asked this employee why did he fit a damaged unsafe tyre to my car his response was because he is unliked by everyone and is useless. - Then on the same day as the tyre was changed I witnessed an employee drive a customers car at break-neck speed down the industrial estate road. When mentioned this to the owner he said it’s not the first time the said person has done this and he will be disciplined. - Failed promises to call back by owner. Even though they are quick enough to call to say there are additional charges for a buckled wheel. Funny how BMW had inspected the wheel weeks prior and no buckle was identified. After swapping numerous emails with the manager about my experience and highlighting the loss of numerous hours travelling backwards and forwards from my home to their yard which is a 38 mile round trip I’m sure he will try to pass the buck, blame me or make out as he did in his replies that the above stated truth was harassment. No good will gesture has been offered without the need to attach conditions with regards agreeing to not share my experience with anyone verbally or online. So you can rightly guess I didn’t accept this unprofessional approach.Moreexpand_more
I have been using Platinum for years now. Their customer car is fantastic, also being able to chat to Liam the manager about what I want to achieve in colour and finish of my wheels is a really nice aspect of the whole Platinum experience. The alloys I just presently had refurbished for my Edition 30 Golf GTI were spectacular. Porsche silver with chrome base. They look incredible. Absolute quality business, and why I come back time and time again.
Scott owner, Leim and rest of the team. Thank you for amazing the job you'll did on my wheels. Thank you Leim for the excellent match of colors to suit my car. Scott thank you for ensuring that the task was performed to a very high standard and the team for doing such excellent Job. My red Audi RS4 never looked so Good. (It POPS! ).
Had cracks on my back alloys welded on both wheels just over a year ago (13 months I think) and another weld a year prior to that on one of the same alloys. I rang up a few days ago as on both wheels the alloys are letting out air where the crack was welded up. They informed me that as it is over a year they will not fix for me, despite it clearly being a problem with the strength of the weld and this being the second time I have had to go in and have a repair that they have done fixed (and having to pay for it the time before). They said it wasn't the weld and was just luck that it was in the same place, which is a virtual impossibility for the cracks to occur in exactly the same places on BOTH alloys at similar times. I rang a couple times and they told me I need to speak to management, but they weren't there so will call back the later in the day and I still haven't received a call over a week later.
I took my Audi A5 in to have the wheels re-painted. The dealership that sold me the car had already 'done'the wheels, but to a very poor standard. I like my car to be well-maintained and to look well-maintained as well. Platinum Alloys did exactly what they said they were going to do and the results are fantastic. I'm a happy customer and would return to them again without hesitation.
I have been using Lepsons Swindon (now Platinum Swindon) for years, having had a selection of vehicles with different requirements (Renault with their toffee-soft wheels, BMW/Mini and Audi) and their work has always been prompt, professional, courteous and just as if they owned each and every wheel repaired/re-finished. The worst wheels I had were bought from eBay - totally pitted/corroded BMW 18" MV2 Style 135. I bought them and a set of Michelin Pilot Alpin 3 tyres and paid for re-furbish service and what came back was a full second set of winter wheels and tyres for my car, for a fraction of the cost of the £3000 wanted from the BMW garage and identical to the wheels with my summer tyres on my car! Brilliant, immaculate, stick-on weights, perfectly balanced, unmarked and in 3 days! Everyone that has seen them knows who did them. For a price that was even better value than the people in the mobile vans. Over two years since they were done and there is no oxidation or degradation of finish of any kind. The paint colour and lacquer finish is identical to my originally-supplied wheels. I remove my wheels regularly to clean inside and outside rims using Auto Glym etc and my wheels are concourse. I could not recommend Lepsons now Platinum wheels Swindon highly enough.Moreexpand_more
I have used Lepsons of Swindon numerous times over the last 5 years and they have always proved to be fantastic. The quality of the work is top notch, the turn around speed reasonable (and reliable) and service excellent. I will definitely continue to use them for my vehicles.
Just had my alloys refurbished at swindon. what a superb finish. took my car in on tuesday morning picked it up thursday at 11am. great service from start to finish. thanks lepsons. mercedes owner lyneham wiltshire. .
I cant rate Lepsons Swindon highly enough. Always 100% quality everytime. They work hard and know their stuff! Very helpful too. Keep it up Scott. Phil @ SmartCar UK.
I can only think the previous reviewer (RJ) either:a) caught Lepsons on a VERY bad dayb) had a grudge against LepsonsI found the service superb from first contact (telephone enquiry - very knowledgeable, extremely helpful) through to the end result. I placed 4 BMW M3 E46 18" wheels in that were in a very poor state, the rims were damaged and the general laquer etc had peeled leaving a milky appearance - all in all a very sorry state. Lepsons advised me I could have them returned to the original diamond cut finish (anyone that knows these wheels also knows that even when refurbed they can be an utter nightmare due to what "may" be manufacturing defects), but this would cost around £400 due to having to send them to Lepsons Kent branch that has higher grade machines for this exact type of wheel. I opted instead for a BMW style "flat" silver finish and was told the wheels would be ready in 5 days (this allowed for a weekend as well! ) - sure enough, I had the call early on the morning of the due date to tell me they were ready for collection. I had issues with transport that prevented me attending until a week later and at all times Lepsons were very understanding about this. When I collected the wheels I could not have been more impressed with the quality of the finish, the wheels looked amazing! I was helped to place the wheels into my car and the whole service was with a smileI would not hesitate to recommend Lepsons to my friends (and this is how I found them - via word of mouth recommendations). All the best to the guys and Caroline on reception.
I had a wheels straightened and refurbished at Lepsons in swindon and I really am not the kind of person to complain about things but I think people deserve to know the truth about thier terrible workmanship. Basically they didnt straighten the wheel very well at all so I had it checked out at a local tyre balancing centre and I could see clearly that the wheel was still buckled as they span it on the balancing machine! In fact it was so bad I could still clearly feel it when driving. Also the paint finish was very bad and the colour they assured me would be a match wasn't even close! And when i went back to very politely make an enquiry about what they thought about that and if they would put it right I was spoken to very rudely by the owner and as I was in the office i noticed a pile of complaint slips from other customers saying thier wheels were still buckled too! I've now had the wheel refurbed somwhere else and it is perfect, largely because they use a hydraulic press to straighten the buckled wheels not a large hammer directly on to a cold wheel! So to summarise dont cheap out and use Lepsons, spend the extra ten pounds or so and use a truly proffesional company that will use a hydraulic press to give you the results you deserve when you hand over your hard earned cash.
Response : We pride ourselves at Lepsons of the quality of workmanship as all of our other reviews testify on lots of different forums. Unfortunately in your case you feel you have not had the experience all our other customers are used to. The wheel was dented on the front face, which required straightening / welding and refurbing. The straighten on the front face was done with welding to fill and the wheel refurbed, we weren’t advised of the straighten on the rear and our mistake was we did not pick it up. If you had brought the wheel back to us, we would have rectified this free of charge. We do not straighten wheels cold, we currently straighten in the region of 120 wheels a month and our practises are as good as a hydraulic press. We advised on your first visit the alloy wheels had been previously been refurbed by an industrial powdercoater who had used a standard powdercoat silver which is not used by any wheel manufacturer. The colour could have been matched for an additional £25, however you chose to go with the correct original Mercedes colour as you were going to have the other 3 done properly anyway. We could not agree to changing the colour free of charge as you had chosen this colour yourself, this has obviously been perceived as being rude which would never be our intention. We do not have any complaints slips, so unsure what paper you may have seen, they must have been our job sheets with straightens to do.We are sorry you feel that you have had a bad experience, if you had spoken to us or come back with the buckled wheel, we would have, of course, rectified the wheel free of charge.Moreexpand_more
