Pitlane Ltd

Last weekend Sun 14/07/2024 went for my MOT. They have reported that the oil is still leaking and the ball joint needs to be replaced. I had a truly disappointing experience with Pitlane MOT and Service Centre. My BMW 5 series had an amber engine light on and a minor oil leak, so I thought it was a good idea to take it to Pitlane for repairs. They conducted diagnostics and provided a lengthy list of parts that supposedly required replacement: Oil level sensor, oxygen sensor, drive belts, and offside ball joint arm. The estimated cost for all this work was a whopping £1281. Before the repairs, the car was running smoothly aside from the mentioned issues. However, after the supposed fixes, things took a drastic turn for the worse. The oil leak was still present, and the handling of the car became a nightmare. Whenever I drove over roundabouts, an unsettling clicking noise resonated through the steering wheel. Starting the car became a frustrating ordeal, and the overall power and performance were significantly lacking, with noticeable hesitation while driving. Adding to my frustrations, the oil level reached a critical point despite no dashboard error indicating such a problem. I returned to Pitlane in hopes of rectifying the new issues they had introduced, but their response was shockingly dismissive. They claimed they lacked the necessary BMW tools to properly address the problems, raising doubts about whether they genuinely replaced the parts they charged me for. Requests to speak with the garage owner were met with refusal, and even when assured of a callback, I've yet to hear from the owner. To top it all off, despite the subpar work they performed and the ensuing problems, Pitlane adamantly refused to refund my hard-earned money. Instead, they recommended I take the car to BMW for proper repairs, essentially admitting their inability to handle major repair jobs. While they might be passable for simpler tasks, I strongly advise against trusting them for anything more significant. In summary, my experience with Pitlane MOT and Service Centre was a complete disaster. Their work worsened my car's condition, their customer service was lacking, and their refusal to take responsibility for their mistakes was deeply disappointing. My van, which is several years old, has been serviced and mot'd by Pit Lane for several years and has recently required a new clutch. In each instance the service/repairs were done quickly and to my satisfaction. The staff are friendly and knowledgable and always happy to advise. They are not expensive and I can always get a coffee.

Am a regular customer and have never had any problems. Good, friendly and clean garage.
