Pinnacle Loft Conversions & Builders Edinburgh

Recently received a quote from Pinnacle lofts, although the bid was reasonable we decided to go with another company. Since declining the quote, I have had many, lets just say not very nice messages from Jim. Customer service leaves a lot to be desired.

Pinnacle lofts were engaged to convert a loft in our Victorian tenement creating a bedroom, studio and an en-suite bathroom. Right from the start of the process there was a lot of communication to get everything ready for the start which was a big contrast with a lot of the other companies who gave us quotes who didn’t seem to want the work. Jim was very knowledgeable about all parts of the process and managed to get everything happening in good time. The work has just been finished and although it took a bit longer than we were expecting initially, it all went pretty smoothly and we are very happy with the final quality of the work. The various tradespeople Jim got to do the work were all excellent and very friendly and considerate, we were happy to have them in our house while we were living there with them working around us, as well as while we were away to enable them to do the really messy work. Overall, we have been really happy with the whole project and a very grateful to Jim and his team for their hard work. .

A*** Great work from Pinnacle lofts. Would recommend. On time, well organised and fairly priced. We had a full loft conversion, so attic floor levelled and laid, seven velux and a skylight installed, a staircase measured and installed, and the stud walls framed. Jim and his team at Pinnacle Lofts really helped me out of a jam when the previous builders were a no show. The joiners and roofers were excellent, work was too a high standard, done efficiently and quickly. Jim knows his business and the regulations really well. He's quick on the phone which made it easy to get qoutes for new work, allowing me to figure out my budgets and what work left I could afford to get done. Our job was unusual in that I had 2nd hand velux windows, and ex. Flooring that was extra thick at 38mm! But none of that was a problem and team installed it all brilliantly. Now floor is rock solid and we saved a bunch of money on windows. We also had a pandemic mid way which was very stressful, but eventually when rules allowed we picked things up and the teams all took necessary pp precautions. As this was my first building project I greatly appreciated that Jim took the time to go through the stages and gotchas along the way. Just had our loft converted and the quality of work was very good. Work took about 1 week and everything was cleared up at the end of the each day. Workmen were professional and courteous and did a good job of giving us a spacious space we can use. Happy with the end product.

Jim and his team did a fabulous job, all the works were carried with impeccable professionalism, the architect drawings and specs were perfectly followed and what I was asked in the initial quote was very closed to what we ended up paying by the end of the jobs. Whenever an unexpected problem came up due to the age and layout of our attic Jim always found a quick solution, the additional jobs needed were carried right away and always within the budget, he updated us day by day, he really took any pressure off us and dealt with every single aspect. An approximately 80 years old untouched attic was. Turned into 2 stunning bedrooms within a month, what I thought it could be a nightmare of a process turned up being a very pleasant one! Every team member, joiners, plumbers, electricians and plasterers were very friendly and clean. Particularly, Kevin and Tim that carried the whole “conversion” part of the job, they are first of all very experienced and skilled, and second of all extremely nice, the kind of people I could totally trust, my house keys were left in safe hands!

Jim and his team converted out loft into a master bedroom with ensuite, freestanding bath and dormer window. The end result is even better than anything I had envisaged. The contractors were friendly, worked hard and considering the amount of work going on, there was minimum disruption to our daily lives (despite working from home! ). We threw in some random requests during the work and Jim was very good at accommodating everything and coming up with solutions to glitches and problems. We chose Jim because he gave the most competitive price for the job, and I'm glad we did because the end result is still a quality loft conversion. The best part is that Jim came in pretty much on budget, so I wouldn't hesitate to use him again. Paint work and flooring in photo were a DIY job (as we requested), so don't judge Pinnacle Lofts on that!

Sad to say that Pinnacle completed my property to very poor standard. They skimped on plasterboard, didn't level the stud walls properly, installed below spec fittings, and changed the plans without my permission. Most recently I discovered some very poor quality kitchen wiring which was dangerous and unusable. It has taken me months to correct their mistakes, and I am presently looking for ways to compensate for the time and costs of getting my own guys in to fix their work.

Work has just finished on our loft conversion, really pleased with the end result - open and spacious. Jim and his team were courteous, friendly and helpful. Jim was very open to new ideas or designs and gave some useful advice. Work was completed on budget which was great for planning ongoing decoration and carpets going in this week. My boys are very excited to be getting into their new bedrooms next week!

Jim carried out a major refurb of a two bedroom tenement flat for us. Jim showed a keen interest in carrying out the work, offering a competitive quote and a quick start date. The work was started on the agreed date and carried out by excellent trades men. Jim supervised every step, ensuring that the work was carried out to a high standard and at a good pace. As to be expected with a refurb of an old building some problems with the build were encountered along the way, however Jim saw to it that they were remedied and we were left with an excellent job, finished to a high standard. My only minor reservation with Jim was the high level of deposit required at the beginning of the build, however he proved more than trustworthy and provided us with receipts for all cash paid.

Jim's prices were competitive with other builders. He had a quick start date which was great and all the tradesmen he had on the job were excellent. They were all very considerate and kept mess to a minimum. Any problems we had Jim dealt with. Unfortunately the work was not finished in the original timescale and took a couple weeks longer. We are delighted with our conversion.

Jim and his team stepped in when another builder pulled out just before he was due to start. He gave us a very quick and competitive quote. The team were courteous and efficient and finished within weeks. There were some extras and a few slight snags that were dealt with promptly. Other builders had shown concern to us living in the property during the work but this wasn't an issue for Jim's team. I'd happily recommend them for a loft conversion.

Delighted with the attic conversion, the job was done on time and to budget. Jim came round quickly after asking for an estimate, which was a reasonable price for the work needing done and the arrangements were made quickly and efficiently. Jim was happy to answer any of our queries and was very good at keeping us informed about the progress of the work. The tradesmen were excellent, knowledgeable, courteous and cleaned up thoroughly after themselves. I have no hesitation in highly recommending Pinnacle.

Pinnacle loft conversions fitted a velux window to my upstairs office. Communication was excellent. Standard of work was very good and completed within the proposed time scale. Would definitely use again.

From initial decision to convert our loft area Jim Nisbet guided us through the process. Pinnacle responded immediately, visited our property and Jim proved knowledgeable and advised on the entire project. Organising the architectural work, surveyors and all the various trades. The work was completed to the original quote and we are happy with our new bedrooms, stair, hall and bathroom space.

Jim costed the job before we could move in to the house but, despite some unexpected surprises, stayed true to his original estimate-which was very good value compared to competing quotes. The different trades he used were all very good - skilled and professional, and all were careful and very nice people. Jim kept us in the loop at all stages and tried to keep things on what was a very tight and stressful schedule. The end result -new kitchen installation, renovation of a bathroom, installation of a second bathroom, velux installation, new central heating upstairs and floor laying- was high quality and we're pleased with it.

We used Pinnacle for a detailed house renovation. Jim Nisbet, the proprietor, was communicative and helpful throughout the entire project. He has assembled an excellent team of tradesmen (joiners, electricians and plumbers) to carry out the work. In particular, the joinery work has been finished to a very high standard.

The work was an attic conversion in an old tenement flat. The cost of the work was very reasonable and Jim was honorable in sticking to the original estimate, even though the work could not start for many months due to us getting legal permission from neighbours. There were very few additional costs and these were all discussed with us, for example, the need for a new electric fuse box to bring it up to regulation. The work was more complicated and lengthy than we had first anticipated, due to the need to relocate a bathroom and remove walls in order to create space for the new stair case and because our property is more than 100 years old. It was therefore, understandably a stressful and messy process. Now, at last, we can put that behind us and we have a fantastic new double ensuite bedroom. The views are stunning and for these, it is all now feeling worth all the effort. We love the new stair case, landing and hall way. The sky light is bringing additional light to the whole flat. It is all a lovely feature to our flat. We have had some hitches getting through building control, but Jim is attending to all the snags and details and we are nearly there. Not everything was fully to our satisfaction at first, but we are pleased with the work and are now enjoying the new room in our flat.Moreexpand_more

Jim was great in helping with our property. He was a one stop shop for everything you needed and helped us through the process very well. We ended up changing our layout mid job which was not an issue and ended up being finished on time and budget. In spite of some challenges with the council Jim was excellent in ensuring everything progressed and was finished to a high standard.

Jim and his team converted our loft into a bedroom with an en-suite. We also gained a study area beside the new stairs. Jim was very knowledgeable about the loft conversion and planning process so was able to provide great advice and guidance. He always ensured that he maintained good lines of communication so that we knew what was happening and when. Jim coordinated all the trades to ensure that the project stayed on track. There was a slight delay in the completion but this was due to supplier issues. We're really pleased with how the loft looks and looking forward to decorating it. Jim and his team are excellent value for money.
