It helps that it was an exceptionally lovely day in Pinn Mill. Anthony is very knowledgeable and experienced as you would expect from someone who earns a living from photography, but his ability to impart his knowledge in an easy and relaxed manner is what makes the day. A mix of discussion, review of our cameras and practical activity makes the day perfect. Two in the field sessions enables Anthony to constructively critique our abilities in a before guidance and after guidance situation and believe me the difference is noticeable. The pub lunch is delicious, but sadly to avoid a slumberess afternoon, I was unable to partake of the tempting ales. Subsequent to the day, I can honestly say that I can see a massive improvement in my photographic results and therefore thoroughly recommend a day by the water with Anthony.

A really lovely day in an idyllic location for taking photographs It was useful to critique Anthony's photos to assess what makes a good photo. Very good for a beginner like me as he set up my camera for me. It was on several levels so you could take as much technical info as was right for you. One on one time if required. Useful group assessment of photos taken . Superb lunch overlooking the estuary.

An excpetioal day. This is a complete package - great tuition, masses of enthusiasm, really nicely cooked lunch (included) in great pub next door to the studio, lots of time available for taking pics, experimenting and manipulating the images. This event is much more than a training course. It is a very relaxing day with a very knowledgable and forgiving tutor, who provides you with knowledge, guidance and looks after everything to make your day rewarding and enjoyable. If you have this package bought for you as a present (as I did), you will want to thank the people who had the sense to book it for you in the first place. Will be back for more.

This was my second course with Anthony Cullen - I had a fantastic day, learned a lot, left inspired and motivated. Anthony gave me loads of useful tips and advise and he TOTALLY taylor the day to my needs - in fact he went out of his way and I got much more than I had booked. I would HIGLY recommend his courses and I will go back again.

I recently went on the intermediate Photographic day, and would thoroughly recommend it. The course was generally split into two parts. The first part concentrated on the photographic side- understanding the basics of photography, using our camera’s features to its potential, and general composition tips and techniques. The second part concentrated on the digital side; how to use photo-editing software and how to edit and enhance photos. By using a few simple tricks we were shown how transform ordinary looking pictures into stunning photographs. This course was ideal for someone like myself- someone keen to get into photography, but hadn’t really gone much further than purchasing a half-decent camera and setting it on auto! I am now using my camera in different ways and practising what I learnt. The course is set in the beautiful setting of Pin Mill (a fantastic place to practise landscape photography), and the day was made all the more enjoyable with an excellent pub lunch at the Butt & Oyster! .

An excellent explanation of how to get the best out of a SLR camera. Anthony explains concepts like depth of field and exposure really well and gives you a guided tour of the camera. There was also plenty of very useful feedback on the photos we took. Lots packed into one day but a lovely setting and really enjoyable.

A very inspiring two days (Beginner & Intermediate). The tips and techniques I learnt have added a new dimension to my photography and will enable me to get more out of my camera and create more interesting photos. The beautiful Pin Mill location and delicious lunch added to the very enjoyable experience.

Very well delivered and both informative and entertaining. Anthony puts information across very effectively without unnecessary jargon and interracts fairly with all course members.

Just to thank you for the best day I've had in ages. I'm buzzing with all the details which will improve my skills and help me on my way. I feel very grateful for the chance to meet and discuss everything with you, what a great way to learn, and fab surroundings too. Lunch is a superb idea which breaks the day perfectly, and even better that the sun came out for shooting in the afternoon. Its a special touch to have images to bring home with me to remember the day, all in all a great and memorable investment, which I can highly recommend to anyone interested in photography.

This was my first ever such course so didn't know what to expect. The small group of 5-6 students meant personal attention and some 1-1. All relevant aspects covered and tailored to each, whether using a compact or dslr, brand A or brand B, experienced or beginner, A full but relaxed day and it was obvious Anthony knew his craft and how to pass on knowledge and experience.

Excellent day out as well as an opportunity to learn from a professional. Most useful aspect was Anthony's simplification and demystification of the process of creating good photographs. He was very clear about the essentials without confusing us with lots of necessary information.

I attended a beginner course as a present from my wife. I had limited experience with my DSLR camera and Anthony was able to explain and demonstrate several techniques with the camera and Photoshop that will enable me to take and create better photographs. A very enjoyable and informative course held in a great setting - I would have no hesitation in recommending Anthony Cullen in the future.

A great day for those just starting out on their photography journey. Thoroughly enjoyed the day, photography, food and company.

A great day, i learnt a lot and feel much more confident. Informal and relaxed, Anthony gave plenty of time for questions and individual tuition. I will definitely be back to complete some more courses.

A friend and I spent the day at Pin Mill on Anthony Cullen's intermediate photography day. We were a little anxious as neither of us were very experienced photographers and were wondering whether we should have booked into the beginners course instead. We should not have worried as Anthony tailored the day to each person's level of expertise. There was obviously some expectation that people were familiar with the basics of photography and their camera. I was very taken with Anthony's whole approach to the day. He was very personable and gave everyone attending one to one tuition within the overall structure of the day. The day covered aspects of choosing the right camera settings for the picture but as importantly choosing the right subject and composition. The day flew by, we had the chance to discuss all aspects of photography with Anthony over a lovely lunch at the Butt and Oyster pub and all participants had a photo chosen from the set we had taken, which was discussed within the group, enhanced using photoshop and printed off to take home. I can honestly say that i came away from the day much more knowledgeable, confident and able to take better pictures. I would highly recommend this day to anyone wanting to really get to grips with taking great photos.Moreexpand_more

I've done three courses at Pin Mill now and can honestly say that my ability and confidence has come on leaps and bounds. Anthony offers a relaxed and friendly approach to his tuition, tailoring to individuals needs, so that everyone on a course walks away having learnt something. If you want to learn how to use your camera or want to improve your photographic skills, these are the courses for you.

A fantastic little course which felt really personal too, I learned loads about both my camera and how to take better photographs. My pictures are far better for not being taken in automatic mode! Anthony was really helpful to each participant regardless of how experienced they were and what type of camera they had. I felt he took the time to make sure everyone went away having learned what they came for. Food at lunch time was exceptional too.

Anthony who runs this course is very knowledgeable and I would definitely recommend his courses to anyone.

I attended a one on one photography course with Anthony as it is difficult for me to fit in with a class. I had a great day learning about my camera, what makes a good photograph and taking photographs around Pin Mill. Although it was a lot to take in in one day I thoroughly enjoyed my day and have used the information gained from Anthony to improve my photography. I would recommend his tutoring to anyone. A really enjoyable day:-).

I attended the Beginners Photographic Day, having never had my camera off the Auto setting - by the end of the day I was thrilled with my improvement and left with the confidence to move that control dial and I've never looked back since! Pin Mill is a fabulous location for photography - full of treasures! Lunch is delicious and a great opportunity to chat with Anthony and fellow students. The tuition from Anthony was spot on - he delivers with wit, positivity and enthusiasm - but is also honest and realistic. Anthony's own work is hugely inspiring, but he is so grounded that I never felt intimidated. The handouts were succinct and informative and great to refer back to. The 1:1 time was invaluable and the group feedback session fascinating - so many different approaches to the same subject matter is a brilliant way to learn and see through many lenses! I loved the day and hope to return in the future to attend further courses.
