Dawn's taster session for the Willow Trust volunteers was filled with knowledge, interest and memorable moments. We all learnt a great deal about Makaton and are equipped to embark on a new phase of communication with our guests. Thank you Dawn for such an interesting and informative session.

Dawn presented a very clear and informative Makaton course online. Easy to follow login etc. She is very experienced and knowledgeable and I learnt a lot.

I completed levels 1 and 2 Makaton with Dawn. The course was as part of a group over 4 afternoon sessions in Sept 2022. She was AMAZING! Her experience communicating with Makaton is abundantly clear and she is so generous with her time, happy to answer questions throughout and even after sessions. She went well out of her way to provide us with lots of auxiliary resources too which was great for someone like me with a background outside of health/social care and education.

Dawn recently delivered a Makaton taster course for our team and it was excellent. Dawn is very knowledgeable and has vast experience working within SEND, which complimented the learning of core Makaton sign language.

I attended a Makaton taster session with Dawn yesterday evening via zoom. It was a perfect introduction to signing and learning about how the use of signs and symbols will aid my non-verbal son with communicating his needs and wishes. I work as a Speech and Language Therapist myself and have recently completed a Makaton course with Dawn via Zoom, which was ideal for me as I live in Kenya. She was incredibly accomodating and, even with our time difference, I was able to access everything! I attended a Makaton Signing for Babies course with Dawn over zoom. It was different to how I had expected and was executed brilliantly given that it was over a screen rather than with all the babies in one room etc. I have attended other MSB classes and whilst the set up was hugely different, the actual content of the course was as expected and actually provided an opportunity to sit and learn without distractions. Had Dawn not been running these sessions online, I would have struggled to find anywhere local to me who offer these sessions. Dawn was great in her delivery of songs and rhymes and I did not feel that any of the animation on faces or actions was lost. Thank you.

In October 2019 I took my level 1 and 2 with Dawn in the local village hall alongside some wonderful people and I thoroughly enjoyed the course. I had been learning Makaton at home with my son who has Down syndrome for 6 years but felt the time had come to actually get the certificates and qualify. Dawn was fantastic, kind and understood I already had lots of Makaton under my belt so to speak. She helped me refine my actions and correct a few as well as adding some new ones to my knowledge. I then took levels 3 and 4 via zoom in Autumn 2020. I feel great that I have all 4 levels certified now and am far more confident with my Makaton. Since qualifying I have continued practising with my son and taking part in Makaton practice sessions, 'wine and sign' disco signing and the Makaton Choir with Singing hands too. Thanks Dawn.

I recently completed a Makaton Signing for Babies training course with Dawn. For someone like me who has very little hand co-ordination (I’ve never been any good with action songs), I found Dawn’s approach very easy to follow. She was a patient teacher who made the lessons fun and enjoyable. If I decide to move on to the next level, I would definitely sign up with Dawn again.

Dawn is an amazing lady, she has totally inspired me during my Level 1 and 2 Makaton course to want to do more. A great course, I would highly recommend this.

I recently completed L1&L2 Makaton training with Dawn. The sessions were well-paced, engaging and most importantly enjoyable. Dawn's easy going nature meant I felt relaxed enough to simply enjoy the learning. Her professional knowledge added another element, aiding understanding about practical uses of Makaton. Would highly recommend and hope to be able to return to complete L3 soon!

I took a Makaton for Babies Train the trainer course. It was extremely well led and I would recommend it to anyone wanting to teach Makaton in an early Years group.

Dawn has been a fantastic tutor of Makaton. I have been looking to study Makaton to use in my career as an Early Years teacher, I have now completed Levels 1, 2 and 3 on zoom sessions and am looking forward to using Makaton daily with the children in my class. I have completed levels 1, 2 and 3 with Dawn via Zoom and have thoroughly enjoyed the courses. Dawn is an excellent teacher and her wealth of knowledge and experience comes shining through. The lessons are run at just the right pace and Dawn provides many extra helpful tips, pieces of information, resource links and guidance. Dawn constantly encourages and supports (including providing support after the lessons if you have any queries or problems) and has a great sense of humour. I can't wait to embark on level 4 with Dawn in the near future.

I have completed levels 1-3 with Dawn and so glad I did. I was a little nervous at first but was quickly encouraged by Dawn's style, manner and vast knowledge.

Dawn has been my tutor for Level 3 Makaton training via Zoom. Her delivery of the content was excellent; at the right pace, level and with supporting examples from her own clinical experience, which is vast. I sometimes forgot we were sat at home and not in the classroom with her. She kept it interesting and fun too! I would highly recommend training with Dawn. Sign me up for Level 4!

I have just completed Makaton Levels 1-3 with Dawn. She was a very good tutor: energetic, diligent, knowledgeable, and fun. She remembered the names and specific situations of each person in the class and related to us very warmly, highlighting things that would be of particular interest or benefit to the teachers among us, or the parents, and so on. She also answered questions from individuals both within class, in the breaks, and outside class, sending emails with further info and useful resources. She gave us plenty of opportunity to practise signing and put everyone at their ease as they did so. Her many years of experience as a speech and language therapist in various settings made her sessions insightful and interesting. She handled the challenge of Zoom well: dealing calmly with the occasional technical problem and making the most of screen sharing, breakout rooms, and games.
