Having recently been bought a camera, I had absolutely no idea what all the buttons and settings were for. Jo explained their functions and gave me lots of other useful info, which has given me the confidence to now, not take every picture in auto. A very enjoyable morning outside, even with the difficulties of social distancing in these mad times.
Attended the beginners and travel day course in Chester. A good introduction to your camera. Covered apertures, depth of field, shutter speed, thirds, curves, leading lines, three's, landscapes, panning, creative lighting, perspective and a handy tip on cleaning lenses. Joe and Lucy were both very approachable and they spent time with each of the delegates. Need to practice what we've learnt and we would then look to book onto another course, possibly the night time session in Chester.
Having been given a camera I had no idea how to use I came away after a good few hours with a very patient and knowledgable Joe with confidence on how to use my camera to get the most out of a moment seen. Hugely recommended for novice camera users and those looking to take up photography as a new venture or hobby! .
Joe and Jo were welcoming, friendly and informative from beginning to end. The day was well structured and planned out providing opportunity to learn and ask questions before putting our new skills into practice. The pace was perfect for all levels and Joe was able to adapt answers to the photographer, their individual skills and their camera. Lunch was great as was the tea and coffee. We had rain but we also had fun and it definitely didn’t put a damper on the day. Thanks for a great course Joe and Jo looking forward to the next one. Bobs photograph of the piano is world class. Bob and Deb.
An individual 3 hour course around Llangollen with Joe, great weather meant some top quality pictures under his guidance. Joe has a calm, jovial manner of sharing his knowledge which helped me learn plenty and gain a lot of confidence with my camera. Several years of using the automatic part of my camera but I can now experiment with confidence and get the pictures I want. A well recommended course for the beginner but also those with a bit more knowledge who want to take photography further.
This course was exactly what I was looking for and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. In simple terms Joe managed to explain how to get off the auto mode on our cameras and start taking photos using a knowledge of aperture, shutter speeds, light and depth of field. All of which was pretty new to me at the start of the course! I’ve got the bug now and look forward to using my new skills. Thank you Joe and Jo.
An excellent introduction to getting the camera out of automatic mode. It was pitched at just the right level and mixed some theory and plently of practice. It's now spurred me on to take the types of photographs I've always wanted to, but never understood how to take them. A fun day in the sun.
I got a new camera recently, with multiple'whistles and bells'. I went on the Beginners' course in Chester yesterday, and thoroughly enjoyed it. It has got me away from Automatic mode, and I'm really looking forward to getting the best out of the camera. Thank you very much, Joe and No. Hope to see you again soon.
Having bought my camera 8 years ago, and never really understood how to use it, I took my first course with Joe recently. It was amazing, I acquired an understanding about a lot of the features the camera has when not using auto, and the effects this has on a photo, I feel much more confident in the use of the settings. The course number was really small and meant I had lots of opportunity to ask questions, something I felt really valuable in this type of learning. Joe is really passionate about photography and getting the photo right using the camera and this really shows in his knowledge and the way the course is delivered. I would recommend taking a course with No Fear Photography, 100%. In fact I am going to be attending another very soon!
I attended my first photography course with No Fear Photography yesterday and found it really helpful. The course content was excellent and I found the information invaluable. It completely took the fear out of using the camera and I am now able to use many features on the camera that I was unaware of prior to the course. I enjoyed the whole day and the planning of the course was spot on. I am looking forward to booking on my next course!
The course was informative and fun. We were taken outside on different photo locations to try different picture set ups. We were also given summery of how an SLR works and a critique of the photos we had taken. Will not be using Auto again. Nothing to much trouble.
As a real beginner in photography I found it so informative ,easy to follow. Joe is able to teach in an uncomplicated way so you get it ! It was really great to find out the mechanics of the camera so you can really use it to the full and come of auto ! … the difference in the quality of the photos after putting what you learn into practice is amazing. I definitely would recommend for anyone who wants to get more Out of their camera …. And the summary sheet after is a great idea so you don't forget …. Thanks for a fantastic course …. Life with my camera will never be the same ! Stephania Willis.
A very fulfilling day - a good balance between the theoretical and the practical. Before this course I was not aware of the adjustments that I could make on my camera particularly to depth of field, exposure levels and shutter speed - up until now I had only been using the auto setting and this course has completely altered how I use my camera. I have not been able yo upload any of the photographs from the day as all of them are too large.
