Our lights and power supply failed on a Friday night and a burning smell from the fuse box. I contacted Mearns Electrical at 17. 30 and Steven arrived within 1 hour and quickly diagnosed the problem and within 1 hour of his arrival at our property he made a repair and restored the power supply. We would highly recommend Mearns Electrical for there quick response at a fair price.

Used Steven for some minor works, and used him in the past to rewire my kitchen. Steven and his team provide an excellent service. I’m a Chartered Electrical Engineer and I can 100% vouch on the quality and compliance for his work. I also wasn’t charged as much as the initial estimate as when his team came out and reviewed the work it wasn’t as much as they thought. He could have easily charged what he initially estimated but was fair and reasonable. A trades company that keep to their commitments and have good communication backed up by top quality work, I cannot complain.

My new goto Electrician. Mearns Electrical replaced and rewired downlights for me. They were punctual and professional so could not ask for anything more. Would recommend.

We received very prompt and efficient service this afternoon. We were advised the most appropriate way of replacing a very old wired doorbell. We also received excellent guidance from Thomas about repositioning the main electric box. We would recommend Mearns Electrical Ltd.

After the lights in my home had been flickering for a few days I phoned Mearns Electrical after reading the following quotes: “My name is Steven, I own Mearns Electrical. ” “I can be at your home or Buisness (sic) usually within a day or two for free estimates. ”. On the morning of 21 September, Steven phoned to say he could be with me in 10 minutes, he was waiting for the woman whose work he had just completed to come back from the bank with CASH. He looked at my junction box containing 9 terminals with screws to hold wires in place (only 6 are in use). He told me the screws were loose, and tightened these SIX screws. He said they come loose with a build up of heat over the years, and this caused my lights to flicker. They continued to flicker after he left. I messaged Steven to inform him Scottish Power’s Electricity Network arrived outside my home 3 hours after he left to dig up the pavement to access the main cable which had been burning away. One of their electrical engineers told me that was what had been causing my lights to flicker. Steven phoned back immediately and I pointed out he had charged me £45 for tightening SIX screws. He said, “You didn’t think I was coming out to give you a free estimate did you?”. When I pointed out he had done no electrical work, he said, “Aw come on, you don’t consider tightening screws to be electrical work”. I was taught to wire a plug when I was at primary school. I don’t consider myself to be an electrician. Since he advertised free estimates, the £45 CASH he charged me, was in fact, for tightening SIX screws - which did not solve my problem. I’ve now had 2 electricians view the “work” Steven carried out, and the explanation he gave as to why the screws became loose. I’ve also shown 2 other electricians photographs of the junction box etc. I cannot print their comments here. While in my home Steven advised me to have an electrical check carried out, and quoted a cost of £300 approximately. Although not putting himself forward to carry out the work, during his time in my home - and the telephone call the previous day - he warned me to be wary of other local electricians. I have been having problems with my boiler and when I called Steven from Mearns Electrical he came round in five minutes and fixed it for me and it was on Friday at 5 o’clock couldn’t believe it was so quick and he didn’t charge me. ! I would highly recommend this company thank you again Steven.

Mearns Electrical carried out a full rewire on our tenement flat in October 21. Work was started on the day agreed and was finished on time and with care to ensure the existing features of the living room and kitchen were retained and protected as much as possible. Post work service has been excellent with minor issues and any questions being resolved quickly. Advice and guidance from Steven on non electrical work required to the flat was greatly appreciated.

Steven and Thomas did a professional job fitting my new outside lights and the fire alarms required for the new regulations. Scheduled a date quickly, arrived on time and completed the work quickly. Had used Steven years ago to fit a new house fusebox and was happy to use again.

Steve called to say would be a little late. That in itself is a miracle nowadays. When turned up, the professionalism and courtesy shown was second to none. The job was completed in a very tidy and respectful manner at a VERY reasonable price. I now have a working oven again! Two young men arrived when expected and did a first class job I would highly recommend them, cant thank them enough.

We needed someone to restore power to the boiler. The guy from ME was great, got to the root of the problem quickly and that matched my own guess, so it was immediately reassuring to know he wasn't messing about. He did a really good temporary fix and explained the next steps and answered all my questions. I would recommend this company. It's always a relief to get someone in that's reliable and competent and ME ticked all the boxes.

I contacted mearns electrical and spoke to steven, I had a full power cut and it was our indian xmas that day, steven quoted me a price and gave me a time when he would arrive and also told me what was needed to fix the problem, when steven came out on that day he put in a entire new fuse box, and once the job was completed he gave me advice on future problems, was very professional and efficent, he cleaned up all the mess and only left once he knew I was satisfied, would highly recommend steven to anyone, and great service, thanks steven.

I recently contacted steven and the boys to come out and fit a new bathroom and kitchen and a total rewrire of the recent property I purchased, the quality of serivice and work I received from start to finish was excellent and would highly recommend and will definatley be using again.

Contacted Mearns at short notice as our flat is being valued on Thursday and we had a few electrical repairs to be carried out. The guys arrived on time, got straight onto the repairs rather than mess around, Repairs to the hall lights, porch lights and bathroom light carried out in about half an hour. I thought their price was really fair and would use them again in the future.
