Martin and his team removed an old concrete hearth, laid beautiful stone, and re-rendered the inside of the fireplace. It looks perfect, I’m more than pleased with the result. The care and attention to detail really show; true craftsmanship. They were also polite, friendly, and punctual throughout. I would highly recommend.

Martin and James completed the repair of a water damaged ceiling to a high standard. They were punctual and tidy. However, there was a small misunderstanding about the scope of the work. When I politely asked for clarification, Martin responded defensively and rudely, including comments that made me feel belittled in my own home. While the repair itself was well done, his reaction unfortunately marred the overall experience. As a result, it is unlikely that we would use Martin’s services again.
We are so pleased with the work that Martin and his team have done on our new cottage that was build in 1699. The level of expertise and care taken was second to none. Martin is extremely knowledgeable and passionate and was able to advise us on structure and aesthetics throughout the work. He and his team are completely reliable and hardworking and they are a pleasure to have around. In fact, we missed them when they finished! We are so happy with the work they have completed and will definitely have them back to do more when we continue with our renovations, as we know they will enhance the beautiful and historic treasures in our new home. We would have no hesitation in recommending them to others.
James and Martin carried out skilled, high-quality work on the exterior of my property, addressing damp caused by previous cement render. They raked out the old mortar, prepared the brickwork, and parged the walls with a lime mix. Throughout the job they were reliable, polite, and knowledgeable, offering advice when needed and always keeping me fully informed. I’m delighted with the results and wouldn’t hesitate to call them again in future.
Martin provided excellent advice and consultation for our challenge around a concrete rendering on a Victorian property in Cardiff. His expertise guided us in the right direction, and his knowledge calmed a lot of concern. Would highly recommend reaching to Martin for his experience and commitment to his craft.
Martin and James did a fantastic job on my home, but more importantly everything they did and the reasons behind it were communicated so I really felt confident that I got the best service. The full extent of the specialist knowledge that this company provides when working on listed buildings is evident, the high quality workmanship and attention to detail including leaving the work areas clean at the end of each day made me feel really happy to have employed them for the work. Even the listed building officer from the Council said that they knew about the company and that they were a good reliable company when working on listed buildings. I will certainly be using MD Plastering again in future. Thank you Martin and James!
I am really impressed with MD Plastering. Martin was a great help and has an incredible wealth of knowledge on repointing and lime plastering. He was more then willing to this pass on and assist me with the issues I had with my wall. He went above and beyond to ensure I had all of the information I required and I will certainly be turning to them in future should I require any further work.

We live in an old listed cottage in St Hilary. I contacted Martin for some small repairs. He was busy with larger projects but spent a considerable time advising and suggesting how I could correct matters - at no charge. A very pleasant and knowledgeable man with a love of old buildings. I followed his advice with results I am proud of.
MD plastering were engaged to re-plaster a ground floor chimney breast in our Grade II listed Rhiwbina house. Coal mortar removal is a horrible job, but the team minimised the mess, keeping our house as clean as possible during the work. Waste was carefully bagged and left in an agreed location for customer removal. They are a friendly, polite and considerate team. We were kept fully informed during the work and included in discussions when decisions were needed. We were happy to leave them the house keys when we unexpectedly couldn’t be there. We are very happy with the lime plaster work and would use MD plastering again for any further work.
MDP Heritage and Artisan lime pointed the front and rear of my property in Llandaf. They have extensive knowledge and experience of working on old buildings. The work was of an excellent standard and the mortar colour chosen highlights the colour of the original stone perfectly.
I worked with Martin and Dai on a Grade 2* listed school refurbishment that included a variety of different, challenging conditions utilising lime plaster and included the remodelling of mullions, transoms, sills and heads around new and refurbished tracery windows. MD Plastering's expertise, care and attention to detail was exceptional throughout. I have no hesitation in recommending their services and look forward to working with them again in the future. Their commitment to traditional techniques makes them a standout choice for any restoration or renovation project. I wholeheartedly recommend MD Plasters for their reliability, professionalism, and unwavering dedication to producing outstanding results. Steve Dean Contracts Manager Eden London UK |Ltd.

The work we have had carried out by MD plastering on our fireplace reflects the years of knowledge and experience they have. I knew I had right people for the job at our initial meeting. I felt very confident about having the work carried out. The team were professional, punctual, and very careful and considerate to our home during the process. I didn’t think the fireplace could look this Impressive. The damp caused by the cement is now disappearing as it can breathe with the correct materials. It’s the heart of our home and I look forward to having MD Plastering work on the next stage of our renovation. I’d highly recommend.
Worked around other contractors to repoint chimney, repoint front of house and stripped cracked cement from abutments and re-rendered, using breathable lime-based materials throughout. Was friendly and helpful, clearly explained options and answered any questions I had. All work completed to a high standard.
Martin parged a garden wall for us in 2022 using traditional methods and materials. He and his co-worker Dai were really helpful, pleasant, hard-working and tidy and did a lovely job for us. Martin gave us lots of advice and helped us to keep the costs down by showing us how to do some of the laborious jobs ourselves. It was a pleasure to have them both working at our house.
MD Plastering used breathable materials to (1) allow the bay window to breath, thereby mitigating against damp; and (2) transform the boundary traditional stone wall, parts of which could not be left unrendered, into something really visually appealing. We used Ty Mawr lime render and richly pigmented earthborn paints for the latter (F&B for everything else). 4 years later with zero maintenance, and the work on both areas still looks great and performs. Not only is the work first class but Martin’s knowledge and enthusiasm for lime and clay is infectious. Martin did everything he said he would do and I found him a real gentleman (very trustworthy).
