About Maggie Boyd
Hi I'm Maggie, I've studied Musicianship and Singing in Hungary and have a Batchelor of Music Degree at Canterbury Christ Church University. I've been teaching music in all forms for many years with fun and joy; Singing, Music Workshops, Choir, Music Theory and Musicianship (Solfège in the Kodaly Approach).
I offer tailored lessons in: singing, fear of singing, vocal quality, sight-reading and music theory.
I teach in different styles; World, Folk, Classical, Soul, Gospel, Jazz, Pop.
I teach beginners to professionals of all ages, including children. For groups, I offer choir leading and coaching.
I also love to teach students who struggle to stay in tune and people with learning differences/neuro-divergence (eg Autism, dispraxia etc) too.
With my help you will improve on, or learn, how to strengthen your voice, increase your breath control, vocal range, tuning, pitch recognition, improvisation, song interpretation and also natural voice care and singing posture.
My approach is, if it's not fun or joyful, we're learning music wrong.
Lessons: One-to-one or groups.
Online or in my home in Crouch Hill, N19.
Standard Tuition Cost:
1 to 1 - £40 per hour.
Groups £45 per hour.
Sliding Scale: Concessions available for those on low incomes, and support is welcome from generous students who wish to pay a bit extra.
Most students can learn to sing Do-Re-Mi (C-D-E) within 10 minutes. Here is one of my student’s testimonies: “18 months ago I couldn’t sing a note; within the first ten minutes of my first lesson I could sing Do-Re-Mi in tune; Now I’m singing alongside professional opera singers. Maggie gives a solid grounding in the skills needed for singing. I can tell that I’m doing it right. ” - Shaun.
