I had a lovely morning learning about and making a Dorset button. I could make them before going on the course but I still learnt lots more and how to improve the way I make them. We were given a very interesting printed sheet that gave us a brief history of the Dorset button and a good guide on how to make them. The tutor was very good and was on hand to help every step of the way.
Wow, wow, wow - signed up for a patchwork cushion class and got a zip insertion class thrown in - by the fabulous zip fairy godmother (aka Sarah). A fab morning, spent with lovely like minded ladies and finished the project this afternoon. Very pleased with these results and will definitely be trying this technique out again very soon - especially as the jelly roll has at long last arrived! Sarah is so patient, extremely helpful and kept us all on track together, regardless of ability and speed. The different array of fabrics used by us all was lovely to see. No more envelope cushions for me Sarah, a zip every time from now on - I’m still on that ‘zip high’? . Fantastic value for money and a great way to spend a wet and windy morning up here in Yorkshire. I’m definitely going to recommend you to everyone I can and look forward to joining the team again soon for another fun packed morning.
Brilliant workshops! Very friendly tutors who help make all the projects understandable and you come away with a great piece of work! Have now done 5 workshops with more in the pipeline! The latest was Creative Embroidery with Elaine which was a wonderfully relaxing, enjoyable way to de-stress and have fun making something really beautiful which we took away to finish at home. I have also taken part in two of Elaine's China decoration workshops - a ceramic tile and a rectangular tray which look amazing and are really quite therapeutic to get involved in…. Love Made and Making as do many others that come on the workshops! What did we do without you! It really is a wonderful way to spend some spare time! Have uploaded my creative embroidery piece which just needs mounting in the hoop to frame it.
An exceptionaly good and friendly course on a table runner patchwork project. The tutor gave excellent support and tips that the self taught (like me) found particularly useful. The project was challenging (but possible) with many skills to learn. The environment was comfortable and the atmosphere friendly and supportive.
Fantastic place to learn a new craft or develop an existing one. I have been on a number of workshops to learn to use my sewing machine and overlocker more confidently and I am now moving on to patchwork and dressmaking. The workshops are well managed, Sarah (the owner) is calm and has an amazing ability to keep everyone on track whatever their ability. Would highly recommend for adults and children.
Molly(8) had a wonderful time when she attended her first session at half term with Sarah. She has the lovely little cat she made sitting next to her bed every night(except when she is proudly showing it to all visiting relatives! ). Thank you to Sarah for her great patience and enthusiasm-I now am on the hunt for a good first sewing machine for her Christmas present!
Had a really great morning with Sarah learning machine embriodery. The whole group managed to finish a small project : it is alway great to leave with a finished product. The teaching, explanations and encouragement were just at the right level. I will be back for more sessions.
My kids have just returned from a great half term skirt-making workshop wearing their beautiful new skirts very proudly. They really want to do more Made and Making workshops now which says it all really. Thank you very much for a fun afternoon (and some much-needed peace and quiet for mum ;).
I recently took part in one of Sarah’s workshops at Ditchling (machine embroidery using a darning foot). It was a superb morning, well organized and relaxed. Sarah set us off with a few instructions, then we were off with our practice activities. Once we felt confident, we were able to dive into her material stash and create a piece of work which could be used to make a bag, cushion cover or picture. There was visual inspiration to get us going with ideas, so in no time at all, we were off creating our masterpieces. It was amazing to see the lovely things which everyone produced and all so different. This was a thoroughly enjoyable morning where we learned a new skill and were able to practice in a safe environment, i. E. Sarah was on hand to sort out any little problems and give us confidence. I’m sure we all came away with a sense of satisfaction and enthusiasm to try this at home. The workshop was organized so we had ample time to enjoy the process and finish a piece of work and then appreciate everybody’s work at the end. I think everyone could feel proud of what they had produced.Moreexpand_more
I have been to three pop-up workshops and they were all great fun with a relaxing atmosphere. It's really good to have the item finished and ready to take home at the end of the evening. I also took a getting to know your sewing machine class and was impressed at Sarah's teaching skills and her endless patience with my very temperamental vintage sewing machine.
I booked a dress making course in may. I had absolutely no previous experience but Sarah was a fantastic teacher! She talked me through the whole process including threading the sewing machine which I'm ashamed to say I couldn't even begin to fathom before! I so enjoyed the 3 mornings, it was chatty, friendly, girly but most of all fun! And miracle of miracles, I made a dress out of it! Since I have got my own (prehistoric) sewing machine up and running and feel somewhen of an expert on it! I have modified tops, fixed clothes and feel confident I can make most any item of clothing. I would definately recommend this course!
I have attended 3 workshops so far and have found each one to be brilliant and enjoyable. Sarah is a lovely and approachable lady so if you have any problems she is always willing to help. Each workshop I have attended has had a lovely calm relaxed atmosphere, I would definitely recommend these workshops. I can't wait to book my next!
