Mackay's Plumbing

Had used MACKAYS plumbing services last year when I had my old bathroom revamped and replaced the bath with a quadrant shower and was pleased with the outcome. In October had my En Suite partially revamped. Was quoted £269 for new Bifold shower doors. These were delivered in a sealed Victoria Plumb box by Ian Mackay and didn`t notice until after the job was completed that the doors were Victoria Plumb which cost £99. 99 on their website, a mark up of 169 percent! When I asked Ian about it he said that suppliers sometimes run out of plain boxes and use Victoria Plumb boxes instead, when I pointed out that the doors were Victoria Plumb he said he got all of his supplies from "The Plumbing Mate" in Northwich. I contacted them and was told that they do not sell Victoria Plumb products but supply a better quality made by Merlyn which they sell at £264. After pressing Ian Mackay for a reason for the difference he eventually emailed me and said the he had no explanation to offer. I suggest that potential customers check what you are being quoted for and what you pay for is what you get. NOTE - I do not criticise the workmanship of Ian Mackay or his staff just his Ethics and does not deserve to have any reference to Age Concern on his website. RIP Ian.Moreexpand_more

Ian and the team have just re-fitted my en-suite (new toilet, sink, shower radiator and full tiling). They arrived when they say they would, consistently. They charged exactly as they quoted, no hidden extras or nasty surprises. The chaps are great workers, polite, tidy and keen to keep disruption to a minimum. They work together like clockwork and they can't do enough to ensure your thrilled with the result. My new bathroom is gorgeous! I cannot recommend them enough, you are in safe hands. We had a new combi boiler installed and the hot water tank removed from our old bathroom to make way for a total bathroom refurbishment including new bath, basin, shower, tiling and underfloor heating. Throughout the considerable planning and whilst carrying out the work Ian and his team were totally professional, with close attention to detail. They kept up ongoing communications with us as the job progressed to navigate the task through to our complete satisfaction even though we tweaked a few aspects ongoing. Absolutely Marvellous! Having reveiwed 3 Companies and there work-We decided to go with Ian, Wes and Shaun to Completely renovate 2 Ensuites and one Main Bathromm-What a GREAT team! They were always prompt and ensured we had Hot/Cold water every night. They were good a discussiing Solutions and were Flexible to our Exacting requirements. The workmanship was 1st Class and I HIGHLY recommend these guys! MANY THANBKS.

We are very happy with the work undertaken by Ian, Shaun and Wes on our ensuite. They arrived early and did a proper day's work. The finish was excellent. Although this wasn't the cheapest quote, we think it represented the best value for money and would recommend them to anyone having work done on their house.

Mark and I are so pleased with our new bathroom. Ian and his team provided a prompt, professional yet friendly service. All of his team work to a very high standard. Even when our suppliers let us down, they were flexible to amend there workload with out complaint, to ensure our bathroom was completed as soon as possible. Super, organised team from start to finish. Very tidy workers and great team to have in our home. The quality and finish of our en-suite is imaculate and cannot be faulted. They are very fast workers but precise at the same time. Will definately be recommending Ian, Shaun and Wez (not forgeting the plasterer and electrician) to everyone. Only downside is we now need to save to have our main bathroom done now.

Ian and his team have just completed a floor to ceiling refurb on our en-suite. Ian helped us choose the fixtures and fittings and actually talked us out of some of the more expensive options. The job was completed on time, all the work is to the highest standard and the finished room looks great. As others have mentioned, the only hidden extra to his very reasonable bill was the extraordinary number of cups of tea and coffee consumed. We will certainly have him back for any similar jobs. We wanted a kitchen revamp leaving cupboards intact but modernising with new wall and floor tiles, worktops and spotlit ceiling. Ian had done a wonderful job of our main bathroom some time ago and it looks as good as the day it was done now, so he and his band of merry men were easily our tradesmen of choice. He called to quote and work started we were kept fully informed throughout of progress and our opinion sought where necessary to ensure we had the end result we required. After being recommended by a friend, we contacted Ian about refurbishing our old bathroom. He was most helpful with ideas, samples and catalogues. I loved the idea we didn't have to tramp around tile shops etc as he had exactly what we needed. The full team arrived 8. 00 on our agreed start date, double checking our requirements as we progressed. Ian, Shaun and Wess what a good job you have done, we are well pleased. We have just had our bathroom completely re-fitted by Ian and his team. The ceiling was re-plastered and spotlights fitted, a new suite was fitted and the walls and floors completely re-tiled. The team arrived at 8am each day and worked like Trojans. The finished product is of very high quality and we are delighted. We would have no hesitation in using the company again and would recommend them highly.

Graham and I wish to thank, Ian, Wes, Shaun and the rest of the team, for our beautiful new bathroom and cloakroom. From start to finish, Ian and his team were nothing but professional at all times and a pleasure to have around. All the work has been carried out to a very high standard. The work was actually completed earlier than expected, as the whole team are not adverse to working late or at weekends, if necessary. Even before starting our work, Ian was always in contact with an update and readily available during and even after completion. Nothing was ever too much trouble for any of the team. Thanks to Ian and his team we now have a family bathroom, a shower en suit and a downstairs cloakroom/toilet all updated and refurbished to a great standard. Ian helped us at a time when we were very low after just moving house and needed a lift to re model and update our. Bathrooms, his team started a week after we contacted them and completed all on schedule, in budget and to a high standard and nothing was too much trouble. Ian and his team have completed 3 bathroom refits for my family. We are very pleased with all 3 and would have no hesitation in recommending all members of his team. Everyone arrived when they said they would, they worked to get everything completed to a very high standard. Ian dealt with the couple of problems we had with the supplier; all I had to do was provide coffee and biscuits! Ian and his team have recently refitted 2 bathrooms for us; both of which were completed to a very high standard. The advice given was very helpful and the service provided was second to none. There was a fault with one of the products and although this was not the fault of Ian, he continued to revisit and resolve the problem. We are very happy with the workmanship and would not hesitate to use him again.
