Lawers is a large bungalow with at the front a built in garage to the left and the main house accommodation to the right. Parking at the front of the bungalow is off the (quiet) main road adjacent to the garden and is quite suitable for the house owners car plus that of the guests. The rear of the house has been cleverly designed to give two properties one for the Owners and the other for the guests. A high walled garden gives a good level of privacy. A nice garden with patio. Inside the kitchen / dining/ lounge area is compact with all the facilities required for kitchen work. The bedroom has good hanging and drawer spaces with an en suite toilet / / sink / walk in shower. The property is well maintained and Mrs Cunningham is a helpful and gracious host who is normally on hand to deal with any guest queries / questions. Auchtertool is not an obvious choice as a holiday accommodation destination but the village has some nice houses and a small park adjacent to the primary school in a slightly elevated location where you can see all around the village surrounded by rolling farmland. With such a view it is difficult to envisage that you are only three miles for one of the largest towns in Fife, that is Kirkcaldy. The property is suitable for two persons wishing a holiday or short stay in Fife. Auchtertool is also convenient for travelling into Edinburgh or further afield being close to the main A92 road. No complaints regarding the property, its location, or the host. .Moreexpand_more
Glen Lyon was exactly what we wanted; comfortable, quiet and roomy accommodation for me and my 2 sons. It had absolutely everything we needed for our stay. Our host was kind enough to leave fresh milk for our arrival so we could make tea. There was enough dishwasher tablets and washing machine liquid for most of our stay (nb it's always nice when this is provided, though not expected) and plenty of towels etc. Our host was responsive and friendly (though not intrusive) via WhatsApp and gave us lots of locals tips. It's in an ideal location for outdoor activities, the coast and the cities. The garden is beautiful.
We’ve been staying at the house 4 times a year for several years. We love it and the kids don’t want to stay anywhere else. Half an hour from the airport and a short drive to anywhere else we need to be. 10 minutes to the pools at Cardenden and Glenrothes. So much around for the kids to do, their favourite being Cluny Clays for the play park and golf driving range. The house has everything we need and the garden is amazing. Crisi.
We stayed in this lovely house for 2 weeks in June 2018. Margaret met us at the property and took time to show us around and how everything worked. She even provided a most welcome tea tray and biscuits. I can honestly say I’ve never stayed in such a well equipped self catering property. The house itself much larger than it appears in the pictures and the garden is delightful. It’s in a very quiet area but very near to the main roads enabling easy travelling around the area. We had a wonderful time and I would have no hesitation in recommending this property.
An excellent home away from home for your trip to Scotland. All amenities were top notch and the house is in an excellent location for exploring Fife. Would absolutely stay here again.
Stayed at west wing last week in july. If you are looking for somewhere to stay don't miss this one. Immaculate little annexe on the end of the owners bungalow. The owner Margaret couldn't be more helpful. You have your own private garden with seats for morning sun and evening sun on the other side of your own garden. The annexe has everything you need nothing overlooked. Large double bed and I mean large. Shower room instant hot water. And all very clean too. The garden is picture postcard well looked after by margeret. The village is so quiet. Like a little bit of paradise. And easy access to the surrounding area. Kirkaldy, pettycur, Dunfermline, Edinburgh, anstruther, leven. All within a few mile and well worth a visit. We enjoyed it so much booked it for next year too. Dont miss this little jewel.Moreexpand_more
Stayed at both of Lawers Self Catering properties, Glen Lyon and the East Wing, whilst commuting for work purposes in Fife. Both properties were spotlessly clean and maintained to an exceptionally high standard with everything and more provided for. Glen Lyon is set in rural surroundings with a beautiful garden which is lovely to sit out on a summers evening, normally with a G&T in hand. The East Wing is in the very pretty , small village of Auchtertool near Kircaldy and is attached to the owners bungalow, both properties are ideal for getting out and about in Fife with good travel links to Edinburgh. Margaret Cunningham, supported by her husband Neil, are the perfect hosts with nothing to much trouble and any issues dealt with in speedy and friendly manner. I would definitely recommend Lawers Self Catering to any visitors to the Fife area and would like to thank Margaret and Neil for making my stay so enjoyable.
We had a great stay at Lawers. Situated in a nice village and a good location for exploring fife and Edinburgh. Lovely garden to sit in and property well equipped. What really made our stay enjoyable was the owner-Margaret who was friendly and very helpful.
We really like staying in the East Wing of The Lawers, situated in the small village of Auchertool. Margaret Cunningham, the owner runs this self catering unit very efficiently. The cleanliness everywhere is second to none, which is unusual to find these days! There is a lot of equipment supplied - hairdryer, kitchen utensils, cookware, cutlery, iron and board etc. Use of washing machine, washing line which is very useful. Wifi is good. The part of the garden for your own use is very pretty and offers two different places to sit - enabling you to sit in the sun or the shade. The village is conveniently situated, near the coast which is very picturesque. Buses pass through the village taking you to Kirkcaldy and further afield. Possible to take a train from Kirkcaldy into Edinburgh. There are some good days out to be enjoyed - Stirling, St Andrews, Perth and Dundee. The villages on the coast definitely need visiting. Don't forget to have fish and chips in the award winning restaurant on the sea front at Anstruther. We would thoroughly recommend staying in East Wing.Moreexpand_more

We recently visited friends in Fife and stayed at the east wing. It was a very enjoyable stay and very comfortable. Margaret made us very welcome, and we couldn't have wished for anything better. The accommodation is ideal for two, and we felt it was excellent value. Situated in a quiet village and perfect for touring the local attractions.
"The Wing was a great place to stay during my time in Fife. It was a perfect location when I was commuting to both Dunfermline and Kirkcaldy, half-way in between both. Auchtertool is a very peaceful village and was lovely and quiet in the evenings. The Flat itself had everything that I could need and was very comfortable and warm, even throughout Winter. Despite being attached to Margaret's home, I felt like I had plenty of privacy due to the private garden area and having my own front door. Having a washing machine and tumble dryer was something I didn't expect and was a very welcome find! Margaret was a very welcoming host and couldn't have been more helpful. I would definitely recommend the Wing for anybody needing accommodation in this area of Fife, it fitted my needs perfectly! " B HorsmanCumbria.
We throughly enjoyed our recent stay at the Maltings. We received a very warm welcome from the owner (Margaret) who took our last minute setback all in her stride. The bungalow is a home from home. It is well equipt to ensure a carefree holiday, we couldn't ask for anything better. And yes the garage is a boon in wet weather! We look forward to returning soon.
My family and I stayed at the Maltings last April to allow us to visit relatives. We had car problems on the way up from London, but Mrs Cunningham was professional and very reassuring and when we did arrive greeted us as friends. The Bungalow was ideally located for us to visit relatives and do some sightseeing. The Bungalow was well stocked with everything we could possibly need or ask for from self catering accommodation - everything was very clean and new looking - I wish I could get my shower at home that spotless! We had some concerns being located in a residential road, but found the neighbours friendly and welcoming. We had such a great time that we have booked again for 2011.
We have stayed in the Maltings and East Wing and both are superb and kept to a very high standard of repair and cleanliness. Everything you could possibly think of is provided, and more! A real home from home with helpful and friendly owners. We would highly recommend.
