I’ve been a customer at Kay and Ko for years. I would not go anywhere else. On my visit today, I met a lady who had travelled for 90mins for a perm because they are the best! Ellie and her team are caring, patient, knowledgeable and, above all, accomplished and precise in their work. The colours last, the cuts are perfect and the salon atmosphere is welcoming. I can’t recommend highly enough.

Kay and Kompany is a fabulous friendly salon. They are brilliant at cuts and colouring. They use organic hair colours if you wish. I feel lucky to have what’s like a west end salon in Muswell Hill. They are also children and dog friendly.

Felt very special this afternoon getting my hair done at @kayandkompany. I was warmly welcomed by Rosie at reception who was friendly and chatty followed by an amazing wash and head massage by Hatti. I was lucky enough to get an appointment with Ellie who just keeps getting better and better at colour. She is a true artist and this is by far my favourite look so far. Thank you all so much, I’m so happy with my summer blush look. If we can’t go on holiday this year let’s bring the holiday vibes to us hey! ? ? ? .

This is simply the BEST hairdresser in London! Consequently during my last 20 years I have always received nothing but superb quality of service! So friendly so helpful and most of all so client centred that when you come in once, you will never ever want to go anywhere else! I’m truly grateful and lucky to be their client. ? .

Fantastic service so far. The receptionist was really helpful and managed to book in the consultation for me after work to guarantee that I was able to discuss my new hairstyle in depth with Stacey. Stacey was extremely helpful and discussed what I wanted in depth. I was very nervous about whether my chosen look was achievable due to my hair type and Stacey reassured me that it was. So excited for the actual appointment tomorrow. Highly recommend :).

I had my Brzilian Kerastraight treatment at Kay and Kompany and my hair looks amazing, silky, soft and shinny! Robina is a absolutely "STAR" at treating your hair gently and making you feel at home at the salon. I really enjoy having a treat in this salon as I totally trust that they always leave my hair looking amazing! The are fantastic at all hair treatments and colouring, very professional and friendly staff :-).

I have thick frizzy hair which some hairdressers find tricky to cut well. Elly always gives me a good cut to help get the best out of my hair. The staff are friendly and professional and I feel truly pampered after visiting Kay and Kompany.

Best Men’s Hairdressers in North London - I have thick unruly hair and needed a good haircut for a new job. Most barbers don’t know what to do with it and I end up with a cut that is unmanageable no matter what product it try with it. A friend of my girlfriend explained I needed a stylist experienced with male hair rather than a bog standard barber and recommended Kay and Kompany. I called explaining my predicament and they booked me in with Ramona … success! Ramona was excellent - she took the time to really discuss with me what I wanted so the cut is great - definitely worth the spending more than at a barber for. I liked the vibe at the salon so much that I think I will develop the metrosexual in me and try their other male grooming services next time … manicure and threading methinks!

The staff are always very friendly and approachable. The service is great value for money and they do a wonderful job on my hair. I have a full head of highlights done and it has always come out lovely. I can't rate this salon enough, it's taken me years to find a salon that I trust with my hair but Kay and kompany is it.

I have been going to Kay or Ellie at Kay and Kompany for more than 10 years now. I always come out with fabulous looking hair that people compliment – friends and strangers alike. My hair is thick and frizzy, so can be unforgiving but with the great cuts I get from the highly skilled and professional ladies, it is so manageable to style and make it look fantastic! Kay and her team are always so welcoming and friendly from Christina at reception to Hatti who gives a great head massage. 2 years ago, when I could no longer get away with “embracing the grey”, Kay gave me the best advice on how to colour my hair naturally with their range of Organic Hair Colour Systems – as they will tell you I am a “natural and organic freak” so the fact they cater for me is one of the other reasons that I wouldn’t dream of going anywhere else. After my most recent cut kay gave me an Olaplex hair treatment (even I will go less natural for that quality of repair a couple of times a year! ) as my hair is a little drier after a summer of sun, heating and a couple of years of colouring. Thank you again ladies for always looking after me, you deserve your recent award and here’s to a successful and busy 2016 … but not too busy to fit me in please X.

My first visit to Kay and Kompany I have to say was amazing! I felt truly pampered. I found all the staff to be very helpful and friendly, I was offered coffee after coffee and I was even asked if I wanted lunch! They are absolutely lovely lovely ladies. As for my hair well what can I say? I had Elli doing my hair, such a lovely lady, she had done an amazing job on my hair, I had the Kara Straight treatment and I am so so happy with it, not only is it really straight it's also really soft and so shiny. The previous straightening treatments I'd had has nothing on the Kara Straight! Thank you Elli for doing such an amazing job on my hair and for making me feel so very relaxed and pampered. Earlier this year I went travelling for a few months returning back to the UK with amazingly silky and strong hair. As August approached us I decided to experiement with some colourig of my hair including usign bleach; I found my hair lost all its shine and was very dry and looked flat. I visited Kay and Kompany to have my waxing done and asked one of the girls what they could do with my hair. They explained and recommended me this new treatment, Olaplex, so I booked in for it. As usual I was warmly welcomed by the receptionist on a busy, buzzy afternoon. After being taken to my section one of the stylists Stacey talked me through the olaplex treatment again and started the treatment. Stacey applied the treatment leaving me with my stack of magazines and cappuccino to relax. After the treatment was washed out I had the most amazing wash and head massage from Hatti; I always ask for her as she has the most amazing touch and a sweet, funny girl. Ellie then gave me my usual cut and blow dry revealing my new treated hair; I was elated with the results. My hair felt silky, shiny and strong, like heaven had come down and kissed my hair. Now I know how all the celebs get that perfect shine, I felt fantastic. Stacey returned to educate me on how to maintain my hair and ensure I was happy with the treatment. My hair feels like its back to its virgin state and I can't feel any trace of damage from previous colouring. I highly recommend the olaplex whether just for a treatment or whilst you're colouring your hair, add it to the mixture for that celeb looking shine. Thank you so much ladies, you've made my year! I went in for a hair extension consultation with Stacey who said she was trained in nano beads. She put one in for me and told me about the process. The tester strand she put in for me happened to match my hair and after looking at the colour swatches we agreed to go with that colour plus a few lighter ones to add some depth. I went back to have them fitted. My hair was washed and then rough dried. I wondered why my hair wasn’t blow dried properly to match the smoothness of the extensions but as this was my first time and she was trained, I thought she knew what she was doing. As she put in the extensions I noticed they were much darker than the ones we ordered. Stacey claimed that that was the colour we chose and I pointed out the tester strand that was still in my hair and said it should have been that colour. She then said ‘oh don’t worry there will only be about 25 dark ones, and the rest are lighter’. It was the total opposite so I do not know why she lied about it, as when she was finished, my hair was a totally different colour to the extensions. Because I was leaving the next morning I really had no time to order more hair and get it re-done. She said that the hair can be coloured and then it would match my hair better so I decided I had no choice but to sort it out once I was abroad. Because my hair was rough dried, there was absolutely no blending and the colour difference was even more obvious. A manager advised her to colour the ends of my hair to match the colour of the extensions, so we did that. Then the manager cut bits of my own hair to try to make it blend better. I also heard her say to Stacey that she had not placed them in in straight rows and that they went too far up to my parting but because of the bad blending Stacey claimed it had to be that high. As soon as I got abroad I went to my regular hairdresser that I use there and she put some low lights in. Once washed out the hairdresser was in shock because my hair has taken the dye perfectly but the extensions did not and she immediately said they couldn’t be real hair because they did not colour properly. In the first three weeks 20 of the strands fell out… I am very weary of my hair and I was as gentle as ever when washing, styling and brushing it with tangle teaser. So for 20 to fall out just shows how poorly placed they were. A week later I start to notice that where the beads are, a lot of my natural hair had come away from the root. I knew that we lose 50-100 hairs a day so thought it must be that. After more fell out I went to another hairdresser to get them removed immediately. She actually gasped and kept telling me that the extensions were not straight, there were random patches where no extensions were applied, they were not on ‘rotation’ where a row is placed in and then a row of hair is left free which will then be rotated during maintenance. She also said that the single hairs the nano rings were clipped to were pulled from different directions so the weight caused the outer ones to break first and then the rest of my hair that it was attached to also ripped out. I have lost 70% of my own hair and my hair right now is horrifically thin and non existant after only 5 weeks! Even though the extensions were badly fitted, I am more upset about the bad treatment and mistakes Kay&Kompany's employee made. Even down to when I asked what shampoo to use, she said ‘any! Just use your regular stuff’. Every trained professional knows that shampoos need to contain NO sulphates and NO silicone, yet she was just telling me to use exactly that. Luckily I had already purchased the correct ones. After complaining, she once again lied and said she advised me properly. This did not happen and I have no idea how one can lie so much. In short: wrong colour match, being lied to about colour, poor blending, extensions put in wonky, cutting and dying natural hair to cover up the mess, wrong advice, having to pay another hair dresser to colour correct it, hair doesn’t actually dye anyway, 20+ strands falling out and finally hair loss. After asking for a refund they refused and then TRIED TO BLAME ME! They kept saying I should have gone back to them even though they do not understand the concept of being abroad actually prevents that. They took no responsibility and even put my photos on their facebook page trying to sell their services (which I did not consent to). They will most certainly reply to this review with more polite excuses and trying to blame everyone but themselves, they even refuse to admit that they ordered the wrong colour even though I had the original swatch with me! Do not be fooled by the lies that they will respond with. As you can see from their response they try to say that I should have come back to them to rectify their, rightly called, 'faults' but they know full well I was abroad for over a month and was unable to do this so now they are using this poor excuse against me. A really fantastic and good value local hairdresser. I have been going for many years and I know a lot of other people who go there too, both male and female. Great for colour and cut. You can also get a manicure, pedicure, wax etc.
