Mark is an excellent tutor of a proficient group… high expectations and delivering results in their Belt gradings. No hesitation in recommending this martial art, this group and these tutors to any child of school age.
My daughter has been at this club for quite a while now and she looks forward to every lesson. Lessons are brilliantly structured and encourage children to be confident and respectful in all parts. She has learnt so much from the amazing instructors and friendly environment, I would recommend this club to anyone, so glad we found them!
My son has benefitted from training with Mark for over ten years and is now a second degree black belt. Jado has helped him stay fit, maintain core strength, and sharpen his focus and discipline alongside equipping him with the skills of a modern martial art. Mark is a great instructor (also a personal trainer) who works hard to ensure classes are engaging and rewarding.
We have seen a huge improvement in our son since starting with Mark. His overall strength and balance has come on a huge amount, helped along by Mark's teaching and commitment.
To any parents looking for an after-school martial arts class for their children, I highly recommend jado. My son (now 11) has been attending jado classes in Harpenden since he was six and has progressed steadily through the belts, last year achieving his Brown Belt, the final step before starting black belt training. He loves jado so much he’s given up Scouts as the two activities clashed! I also found the classes helped improve his coordination and self-confidence. A lot of credit must go to Mark Owen-Ward, the instructor who runs the Harpenden and Redbourn jado classes with extreme dedication.
We received a warm welcome from a very friendly group when we started Jado last year. Sessions are informative and taxing - but always fun. Mark has an eye for detail and always has suggestions for improvements that are never critical but always constructive. The experienced practitioners coach the beginners with good humour, patience and provide plenty of advice. Classes provide younger members with important life skills and boost confidence whilst underlining the need for control, respect and discipline. Above all though, this is a friendly and fun class!
Great sport and club- has improved my daughter's confidence and fitness. She really enjoys the training and has regularly achieved gradings, which shows how good the tuition is. Really friendly club, would recommend it to anyone who wants to get fit and learn a new sport.
Hi there I took my child here five years ago he was a shy boy and didn’t have a lot of confidence. Now he’s been doing it five years I can see the change in him he is not that shy anymore and he has a lot more confident in himself. It’s really helped him and he really likes it. So if your kids shy and lacking confidence I would really recommend them to start. And not only do they learn to defend them self they learn new skills And meet new kids. Mark the instructor is a nice guy and there to help if you need or have any questions over all I can see a big change in my child and it’s good to see as a parent Thanks Steve.
Absolutely wonderful class that has done such great things for my daughter’s confidence, strength and focus. Mark is an inspiring teacher and role model.
Mark and his prodigy, Laurie, are the exemplary pair to guide and initiate our children to mould a future that we can be proud of. The discipline and enthusiasm that they nurture in our children is commendable and should be a lesson to us all. Unfathomable praise is due to these remarkable guys.
I have been attending Jado Kuin Do classes with Mark for two years now, and am really enjoying them. The classes are very friendly and accessible to all, from complete beginners to those who have some martial arts experience. It has really helped my flexibility and strength. Mark is a great teacher, and has a friendly approach which puts you at ease from the very start.
My 8 year old son started Jado a year ago. He is thriving in Mark’s class - improving in concentration and confidence all the time. Mark commands respect, but is patient, fun and fair - a great role model for the kids. Not to be outdone, my younger daughter has now started. It’s turning into a family affair ….
If you are looking for an enjoyable, challenging and inspiring martial art for your child or children, then Jado is for you. Both my children - a boy and a girl - have greatly grown in confidence, competence and resilience over five years under Mark's excellent guidance, and continue to do so. The classes are well-run and ego-free which creates a friendly, nurturing and respectful environment. There is even an adult class if you want to keep up with the kids!
I have been attending Jado in Harpenden for nearly 18 months and I can honestly say it is one of the best things I have ever been involved with. Mark is a great instructor, very patient and encouraging and even though it is hard work, Mark makes it enjoyable whilst getting you fit and teaching you new skills. There is nothing negative to say and anyone who is thinking of trying Jado, I would highly recommend it. This is a great club to be a part of with a top class instructor. In Mark.
Both my sons have been going to Jado in St Albans and Harpenden for over 5 years now and are still enjoying it very much. Over the years Jado has helped with their concentration, coordination and self confidence. Now they are brown and black belt and the syllabus has become more challenging and for them, now teens, more interesting. Mark is an exceptionally good teacher and role model and he has surely made a difference in my kids commitment to this martial art.
Mark is simply amazing, he conveys the moves well to his pupils and commands their respect remarkably well. Hence, our boy is progressing rapidly and can't wait for Monday evenings. Thank you Mark.
