I originally started in practice on my own account nearly 20 years ago. I now practice as a Freelance Solicitor regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (No 671060) providing unreserved legal services In total I have 40 years' experience in providing employment and also general business law advice to clients (both a corporate and individual) throughout the local area and London and southern Home Counties. The business is based in Haslemere where Surrey, West Sussex and Hampshire meet.
Often work can be conducted by phone and email but I am happy to meet Client's as necessary on my or their premises.
I see the law is seen as a means to an end so the advice given is designed to be both cost effective and practical.
I aim to provide solutions, that make business and financial sense and not simply tell you what you cannot do.
I will always be realistic in advising whether to bring or defend an employment tribunal claim and the likely value of that claim.
Testimonials and details of professional indemnity insurance (one million pounds) available on request.

EMPLOYMENT LAW ADVICE FOR INDIVIDUALS.
Employees and workers have a raft of employment law rights but to understand those rights, how to apply them and their value can be very complicated.
I advise individuals in particular on:
A) whether they are freelancers, workers or employees.
B) Contracts and service agreement when taking a new job.
C) How to handle grievance and disciplinary hearings.
D) Validity of post employment restrictions and non compete clauses.
EMPLOYMENT LAW ADVICE FOR BUSINESS.
Keeping up to date with employment law is a constant challenge with significant cases being reported monthly and regulations and statutes being subject to constant review.
I recognise that running a business is a challenge and that while an employer may see its staff as it most valuable asset, they are often not aware of or do not want to get involved in the minutiae of employment law. Where an employer does not have the need or resources to have a dedicated H. R. Department, I can help with the recruitment, ongoing management and dispute resolution of disputes/termination of employment.
Preventive law being better than curative, I am dedicated to helping business clients stopping issues arising in the first instance or when they do arise, dealing with them in a speedy, practical and cost efficient way.
I aim to provide solutions, that make business and financial sense and not simply tell you what you cannot do.
I am happy to carry out employment law audits of the employment documentation to make sure not only is it legal but is drafted in a way that works best for the employer.
I will always be realistic in advising whether to defend an employment tribunal claim and the likely value of that claim and the time commitment required.

FEES.
I fully understand the vital importance of being upfront over costs whether acting for an employer or employee and the importance of value for money and control over costs whether a business or an individual.
Without having the overheads and administrative tail of a large firm, I can offer my services at sensible rates. You only pay for what you need.
In particular I:
A) offer a flexible fee structure tailored to your particular needs.
B) check whether you have legal expenses insurance and advise of the pros and cons of this.
C) offer fixed fees where possible.
D) sensible hours rates based on realistic charging units.
E) do not charge travel time.
F) where giving an hourly rate I give an estimate of likely total cost.
G) in contentious matters advise of risks of having to pay the other sides fees.
I prefer to give you a fixed fee quote as an hourly rate does not tell you what the total is likely to be. Where I cannot give a fixed fee then I will do regular billings and updates so you have no nasty surprises.
Where acting for an individual on a Settlement Agreement, the agreement will provide for the employer to pay my fees. I will never look to the employee evven if the fee payable by the employer turns out in the event to be too low.0 FreeIndex Reviews
