We have just had our bedroom done by Hirst and Hankin from start to finish everything went smoothly. Chris came and planned and designed with our input. The craftsmanship and quality is of a high standard nothing too much trouble for Chris and Darren. I would recommend them, and look forward to my second bedroom getting done. Thank you Chris and Darren.
We just had fitted wardrobes installed in the main bedroom. The service provided was excellent in terms of quality and value for money. Time schedules were met and Chris was a joy to have around. Our house is an older house and as such walls and floors are a bit "everywhere" but Chris managed to get the wardrobes to fit like a glove! The whole fitting shows true craftsmanship - something sadly not often seen any more. I would have no hesitation in using this company again or recommending them.
Just had our bedroom refitted with wardrobes, chests of drawers and bedside cabinets and we are thrilled with the end result. Chris and Darren were excellent and the quality of their work is first class. They were a pleasure to have in the house. Chris designed the project and it is just what we wanted. They are excellent craftsmen. Thank you. We would have no hesitation in recommending them.
Just had our fitted wardrobes completed by Darren and Chris. Highly delighted with the end result. The service from start to finish was first class and the quality of the work and attention to detail certainly exceeded our expectations. We would highly recommend Chris and Darren and will certainly be using them again in the future.
Having just had 2 bedrooms refitted we would highly recommend this company. Chris helped us with the design and he came up with some ideas we would never have thought of. Nothing was too much trouble for Chris and Darren and our handmade bedroom furniture looks amazing. We also required the rooms to be re-plastered and some electrical work to be carried out which was done by Andy and Kirk who were recommended by Chris and they both did a brilliant job. Very happy!
We recently had fitted wardrobes installed. The process could not have been smoother from start to finish. Communication was excellent from the start and the finished product was lovely. The work was completed in two days with the minimum of mess and all the guys were a joy to have around. Chris helped us with the design, advising us what best fitted our room etc and kept us fully informed at all times of the work schedule. I would not hesitate to recommend this company to anyone considering fitted furniture.
Found this company after a couple of unsatisfactory episodes with high street bedroom firms. We have had fitted slide wardrobes in the adult bedroom and a combination wardrobe and desk area in our son's. The guys are a pleasure to deal with. Their quote was way below the high street firms'. The absence of pressure sales was a joy. Upon placing our order with them the process was smooth and hassle free. We were kept fully up to date at all stages and there no hidden cost surprises that we discovered with the high street guys! The work is now done and it's first class. The true test is the Mrs and she is very pleased. Overall delighted from start to finish. I tried these guys due to their reviews so hope this helps future customers. Plus I never write reviews but this one is merited.Moreexpand_more
Last year After an extension to a bedroom we contacted Darren and Chris to fit wardrobes and bedroom furniture. The quality and price was excellentand Chris and Darren are very friendly and professional. Last month we had them back to fit a new oak kitchen. The kitchen needed revamping with non standard units. Again the quality and finish was excellent. Nothing is too much trouble for them.
Chris and Darren recently fitted two wardrobes in our bedroom. We chose them after getting quoted from Sharps and Hammonds. We were really impressed with the attention to detail shown by Chris when he came to measure up. When the wardrobes were being fitted Chris and Darren kept any disruption to a minimum, important as we have a 9 month old baby! The quality and workmanship of the finished product was excellent and we would have no hesitation in recommending Hirst and Hankin to other prospective customers.
Hirst and Hankin recently fitted a new kitchen for us (June 2014). They were very patient and helpful in the planning phase. The installation took a little longer than planned, but this was largely down to delays in some of the delivery of some of the components. Once they started, they were on-site continuously. The wait however has been worth it as we're really pleased with the final result. The standard of workmanship was high and they even spent three hours searching plumbers merchants around the area to find a replacement part for a tap that had failed when they were installing it. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.
Chris and Darren replaced my fitted bedroom in January. Chris came out to discuss and plan the work, he was very professional and happy to talk through options, styles and finishes. He drew up a plan of the room and provided a detailed quote. They removed my old fitted furniture, moved plug sockets as required and fitted my new furniture brilliantly. They are both craftsmen, the quality of the work is super and I'm thrilled with the finished room.
I can not recommend this company enough. They impressed me from day one. Nothing was too much trouble and the craftsmanship and materials were second to none. I know this might sound a little over the top but having dealt with a number of craftsmen/women over the past few months, I feel I am experienced enough now to spot a quality company. We came to Darren with an existing kitchen design and he managed to work around the various requirements to meet our needs. He did a number of virtual designs using very clever software which enabled us to see what the final product would look like. The price was as expected for the range of the kitchen we chose and we had no surprises in terms of 'add-ons' at the end of the job. We made a couple of changes during the fitting process and they told us upfront that it would cost x amount more (nothing ridiculous, all very reasonable). The end result is excellent. We've had the kitchen for 3 months and not one thing has gone wrong. All in all, a very happy customer. Thanks.Moreexpand_more
We were very impressed with the craftsmanship and the work that Darren and Chris have done in fitting our bedroom wardrobes. Not only are they gifted craftsmen but also very polite and certainly care about their customers. They have turned a rather drab room into one of which we are not only pleased but proud. We will certainly recommend Hirst and Hankin. Thank you Darren and Chris – from Mike and Sheila of Scholes.
Darren and Chris have just completed our new kitchen, we choose them after getting 4 estimates 2 from larger suppliers in the hope that we would get a more personal service, we were not disapointed. There work was of a very high standard and perseverance was way above what we expected when coming across 3 sets of wall and 2 sets of floor tiles which had to be removed, plus waiting for us to decorate and fit new flooring, We have no hesitation in giving them the highest recommendation to anyone who would require there expertise. Again Darren and Chris many thanks. Barbara and Derek July 2013.
I have recently had some fitted wardrobes installed by Hirst and Hankin Interiors Ltd and I am delighted with the end result. Chris and Darren provided an excellent service, prompt, reliable and professional. I asked for the wardrobes to be fitted into an awkward space with a sloping ceiling but nothing was too difficult for Chris and Darren. I certainly recommend Hirst and Hankin Interiors Ltd.
Darren and Chris installed a bespoke fitted bedroom wardrobe with sliding doors and new laminate flooring last year and we were and continue to be very happy with the end result. It's really maximised the use of space and allowed us to have a larger bed as a result. They were always very professional and critically dedicated the time needed to do the install start to finish, no coming back every few days to do a bit more, like some companies do. They are very down to earth, consulting us every step of the way and tweaking things along the way as we wanted. We could tell they both had years of experience and a passion for what they do. They were very competitively priced too. There were a couple of issues with the quality the trims on the sliding doors but this wasn't down to Chris or Darren and they tried to sort as best as they could. All in all we were very happy and would recommend to anyone.
I first met Chris Hankin in April 2008 when he was working for a national fitted bedroom company. Chris fitted the wardrobe in our spare room, and I was really impressed with his workmanship. The policy of that company was to send a salesman round to measure up and design and give the sales pitch and then to send a different person to fit the bedroom furniture. It was obvious that Chris was having to make up for some of the shortcomings of the design and things the salesman hadn't allowed for - such as a very tight turn from our landing to go up the stairs - but thanks to Chris I was happy with the end result. The wardrobes didn't fully maximise the space as I wanted (we have high ceilings and there is a huge gap between the top of the wardrobe and the ceiling which is neatly boxed off, but still dead space) and there were no sides or backs to the wardrobes and we were left with plug sockets in the wardrobes (that company did not arrange electricians to move sockets) but overall, at the time, I was pleased with the result. Chris was tidy, professional and a pleasure to have around as he is such an amiable and likeable person too. We also needed help with some small shelving jobs in the house which I happened to mention to him and as he had some space in his diary the next week he came back and did those for us, fitting a rail and shelves in an existing wardrobe in our fourth "bedroom", which made much better use of the space in there and also a shelf in our utility room. I kept Chris's number and 2 years later, I was so glad I had. We have a smallish office and the fourth "bedroom" which had little use. The door to the "bedroom" opened into the room, cutting it in half, and had a fitted wardrobe to the left with two very large doors which were awkward to use. The room was really a dumping ground we hardly entered, and our office felt cramped. I had big ideas for the room but didn't know how we could achieve them. We wanted to make a family room where we could maximise shelving to store DVDs, CDs, a tv and the growing amounts of toys that were taking over our home. Our daughter was just over 12 months. We also wanted to have a large space in that room so that we could have extra playing space, but ample space to fit a guest bed when needed. We invited a local fitted bedroom specialist around and he had some interesting ideas, but mostly I felt he was not listening to what we wanted, but rather trying to fit his business's defined units into the space we had and to make both rooms more into bedrooms which was not at all what we wanted. I was so frustrated with his approach that I didn't even contact him to find out what the cost would be. We just didn't want to use them. I came across Chris's number and called him on the off chance he had followed through his thoughts that he might set up on his own. I was pleased to find he had set up business with a friend and he came round to give us a quote. It was like a breathe of fresh air. There was no hard sell, and we were actually being listened to! When you meet Chris you will find him very chatty (which I love) but unlike some other chatty people I know, Chris also has the ability to really listen. We worked together on the design of the "family room". Chris gave some good advice about some of my ideas, where they would not work, but took on board our actual requirements and produced just what we wanted. He turned the office around too. He came up with all of that design, and we were so happy with the results, and the price, and quality of the materials too. It was February 2010 when those rooms were fitted and they were completely transformed. Chris and Darren worked really well together and they brought Darren's cousin Kirk with them who is an electrician so we have plug sockets where they are useful, ie not hidden in a wardrobe. They even changed the door to the room around so it opens to the left, not the right, which has opened the room up. The "family room" has been such a boon to us and has grown with our growing family and is now a play room, perfectly adapting to our changing needs, and still looks great, like new and we always have great comments about it from visiting friends. Earlier this year (2012) Chris and Darren carried out more transformation, this time to our main bedroom. Again Chris came to design and quote and where once stood one small wardrobe and lots of dead space, now stands our wonderful fitted wardrobe. Again no plugs hidden in wardrobes, soft closing doors as standard, wonderful quality materials and totally maximised space as I wanted. I cannot really begin to describe how happy we are with the results. The whole room feels so much bigger. It was a tricky job too as there is a door to our ensuite on the same wall, but the whole space has been utilised to its full potential with top boxes above the wardrobe rather than boxed in dead space. Wonderful. I would not hesitate to recommend Hirst and Hankin to anyone. In fact when it came to our fitted wardrobe in the main bedroom we didn't even bother contacting anyone else. The only trouble is, our wonderful new 2012 wardrobe puts the 2008 one in the spare room to shame. So, although you would think we couldn't possibly need anymore fitted furniture, I may be contacting them again.Moreexpand_more
When looking for professional skilled kitchen fitters look no further than Darren and Chris. Bypass the currently No 1 ranked Mother Hubbard - Note that his reviews are from 5 to 10 years ago and all posted following my negative posting Nov 2012 - I'll say no more on that one! The real No 1 indeed should be HIRST AND HANKIN who have recently completed my totally bespoke kitchen. I am absolutely delighted with my kitchen which is excellent quality; superbly fitted and whats more. Competitively priced! Darren and Chris are professional; reliable; trustworthy and take pride in their work. They are steady away but completed as scheduled in spite of delays out of their control. Tip - keep them well watered (never been through so much of tea/coffee). Oh and don't forget the biscuits!Would I reccommend them - 100% Yes and already have done. THANK YOU.Moreexpand_more
