I am James Beckwith, a piano technician based in Greenwich in South-East London. I tune and repair pianos all over London in concert halls, recording studios, universities, schools, and many private homes.

I have 15 years professional experience and work on all types of pianos, and currently maintain the all-Steinway fleet of pianos at Trinity School and have been main concert technician for Saffron Hall for over 10 years. Artists I have been the concert piano technician for include London Symphony Orchestra, London Philharmonic Orchestra, Britten Sinfonia, BBC Symphony and Concert Orchestras, Nicola Benedetti, Paul Lewis, Kirill Gerstein, Isata and Sheku Kenneh-Mason, Víkingur Ólafsson, Brad Mehldau, Hot Chip, and many more.

I have considerable experience in the various skills a piano technician needs such as piano tuning, regulation, servicing, repairs, and voicing. I used to work at Steinway and Sons, and maintain regular contact with the technicians there. I also service electric pianos such as Fender Rhodes, Wurlitzer, Clavinet, and Yamaha CP70; and am a regularly performing jazz pianist and composer.
