Had half a dozen fruit trees, all of which were in dire need of professional pruning, to tidy them up, revitalise them and ensure they continue to give fruit in future years. Ian and the team worked on despite the onset of the "beast from the east" winter storm to get the job completed. Great job, very happy, highly recommended.

Had a really overgrown garden - very high trees and hedges all around. Liaised well throughout, I gave them free reign and they have really done a fantastic job. My garden is now fantastic. Hedges really stripped back, trees managed expertly and my large conifer at the back looks so much healthier. We agreed on a price and this was reduced due to the expected amount of refuse being less than initially anticipated. VERY HONEST, which is what you want. Very polite and were great in offering me future advice for my garden care. Could not recommend high enough. Great job, thanks again.

Ian extended our patio and cuts our grass regularly. The patio wasn't the easiest or biggest of jobs but was carried out professionally and excellently. Makes an excellent job of the regular grass cut.

What a find! I needed someone to do major alterations to my garden while I was away - I put my trust in Ian from Grassroots. He listened carefully to what I wanted and kept in touch with photographs and texts all the time when I was away. The neighbours told me that they worked during torrential rain to make sure it was finished when I returned. My garden looks absolutely beautiful and now virtually maintenance free. His price was very fair. I would not hesitate to recommend Grassroots as a reliable company. Should you want to have a beautiful garden with minimum maintenance, consult Ian - he won't let you down.

The service that I was given by Grassroots was excellent. My garden was overgrown and it was difficult to tell where the lawn ended and the flower beds began. It was in need of attention and particularly knowledge of how to improve it without doing damage. As a non-gardener I was keen to make sure that I got the right advice and could understand the plan to improve the garden before agreeing to the work. I was given simple, clear and knowledgeable information and a clear picture of what was required and how it would be done. The work was completed to my total satisfaction as described and the garden is infinitely better. Plus this was all done in a professional and friendly manner. There is other work I would like to do and I will not hesitate to use Grassroots again.

After searching for quite some time to find someone to clean and treat my garden room I finally came across Ian who thankfully actually knew what he was talking about. He advised on the best way to clean and treat the cedar wood structure which after 3 British winters was in dire need of attention. Ian turned up promptly when he said he would and was very keen to get the job underway. I found him very personable and helpful and I am more than happy with the final result. The transformation to the structure has been quite stunning. I am so impressed I have asked Ian to come back to do some work on my garden fence. I would definitely recommend Ian to others.

Grass Roots built 42m of post and rail fencing, including a 4m and 1. 5m gate, for me. The crew were punctual, polite and very tidy. The fence has made a huge improvement to the looks and dog proofing of the garden. The job came in under budget, even after some wrangling with the suppliers, which Ian from Grass Roots handled entirely on my behalf. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again for any aspect of work in the garden.

Ian cut our hedge (quite substantial, took about 4 hours including tidying up). This is the first time we have used Grass Roots and we were very pleased. The shaping of the hedge was very precise. Ian gave helpful advice on how to care for the hedge. Will use again.

Ian Merrick, creative director of Grass Roots Garden Services, designed and built a 270 degree circular step to a double corner door on our garden summer house, altering a nearby raised bed wall to match the curvature of the step and similarly blending in the approach path. The effect has been to enhance the appearance of the summerhouse and indeed that of the whole rear garden markedly. Ian used a carefully cut wooden template to define the vertical front of the step, to enable the optimum choice of sandstone topping pieces to be made and to ensure that the step top had the correct slope on it. Altogether a skilled performance done to the quoted price, on time and with excellent customer liaison.

I invited Ian to tidy up a garden at one of my rental properties in Teesside. He arrived at 8. 45 am and was working by 8. 50 and he didn't stop or slow down until he had finished the work after 4pm. He is a knowledgeable and conscientious workman, courteous and reliable. He responds to enquiries and phone calls diligently and inspires confidence in his professionalism. I consider the money I paid for the work done very reasonable and well spent. I cannot recommend him highly enough.

Had garden clearance work, tree stump removal, turf laying and a gravelled barbeque area laid by Grass Roots and am very happy and pleased with the results. All work was carried out to a high standard and no mess was left. Communication was excellent and they always arrived when they said they would. Ian showed up as appointed and was quick to supply me with a quotation for the work: to supply and erect a garden fence along one side of my back garden. He then showed up on time and completed the job on schedule, clearing up any mess created during its construction. The fence looks good as well as being strong and long lasting. I am very pleased with Ian's work.
