Operating from Upper Hartfield (Hartfield), Gordon Herrald Associates is an independent security engineering consultancy with specific expertise in all aspects and areas of integrated security/ management systems - networks, access control, CCTV, intruder detection, fire, and locking. Special emphasis has always been placed on requirements for management procedures, the user interface and minimising total cost of ownership (TCO). Client list includes national and commercial banks, international communication, oil, gas and industrial organisations, hospitals, national and local government departments. Set up in 1985 the partnership has over 40 years of experience in the security market.

Gordon was a board/council member of the Association of Security Consultants for 16 years and has qualifications in electrical, electronic and computer engineering, matched with a good balance between commercial/ contractual awareness, technical knowledge and ability gained over 40 years. It was after many years service with a market leader in security systems gaining wide and in-depth experience in all aspects of large security projects, that he identified the market need for impartial security advice from technically competent consultants.

Gordon sat on IEC Work Group TC 79 PT for the development of the IEC standard for access control systems and remains an active member on the British Standards committee: GW/1/8 ‘Access Control’ and Committee GW/1/11 'Remote Receiving Centres'. He is the originator of several published papers, participated in a TV documentary re. 11 September and has project experience extending beyond the UK to Europe, Africa, Asia, the Middle East, the Far East and North America.
