About Godalming and Guildford Flute Tuition
Jessica Webster is an experienced local flute teacher offering high quality, enjoyable tuition to both adults and children in Godalming, Guildford, and the surrounding area.
All ages and abilities welcome. Financial bursaries and/or assistance with the costs of fees and instruments may be available.
Environment is very important when learning an instrument. Children in particular often learn much faster when they learn in familiar surroundings. Most private individual lessons will take place in the students' own home. A quiet, well-lit room away from interruptions is essential, not only for lessons, but also to ensure adequate practising facilities are available. Parents may sit in on lessons if they wish, although this may make some children uncomfortable.
Jessica Webster BMus studied at Chetham's School of Music in Manchester with the Danish flautist Gitte Sorenson. Following this, she studied at Trinity College of Music with Karen Jones and Ann Cherry. She has been teaching since 2000, both privately, and at King Edwards School, Witley and Barrow Hills School. Jessica continues to perform regularly, both in recital settings, and with local ensembles, including with Bagshot Concert Band and as a duo with the esteemed concert pianist, Electra Mylopoulou.
Her latest CRB certificate is available for inspection upon application.
Jess specialises in stage-craft for advanced musicians, and in exam and diploma preparation. She also runs courses for adults that used to play but haven't played for a number of years; these are designed to be fun and build confidence.
