German Language Skills

When I began Isabel's classes I did not have much more than a rudimentary knowledge of tourists phrases in German. In under a year I am at the point where my knowledge of grammar and vocabulary means I can partake in conversations with my German family and friends and actually understand the conversation even when the words are new. When I started the tutoring course my partner and I had a baby on the way and so I really couldn't see myself achieving this until level of understanding for many years, but Isabel has made this all possible. Her structured lesson approach combined with the wealth of materials that you can access on her course allow for quick progression during and outside of lessons. The flexibility of lessons that she can offer mean that your progression is kept consistent even if your schedule is constantly shifting. I would highly endorse Isabel's teaching and encourage anyone with a desire to learn a second language regardless of where you are staring from to give it a try. It's far easier than you think with a teacher like Isabel.

Isabel is a wonderful tutor. Isabel started working with our son at a time when he was really struggling with German about a year prior to his GCSEs. At that time he was scoring a 4 in his exams. Isabel was kind and patient at all times. This, together with her excellent teaching and back to basics approach, instilled a confidence in him that was missing before and led to him achieving a comfortable 7 in his GCSE German in 2023. The tuition was very flexible and via Skype so it meant we could fit lessons easily into his busy schedule. We would not hesitate in recommending her to anyone whose child needs more support with their German or any adult wanting to learn or improve their German.

I had lessons from Isabel for around 6 months with help before my German A level exam. Before I received support from her I was really struggling to get above a C and after her help I have just received an A grade and am now off to Cambridge University. Isabel was a really enthusiastic teacher and was really encouraging in lessons which helped raise my confidence in my German ability. She also made sure that any grammar I was struggling with was worked on till I was fully confident. For example before I came to her I was really confused about German cases but after only a few lessons I felt really confident in them and it showed in my school work. You can really tell that she cares about each of her students and wants the best for them and that showed in the way she made herself available for me the evening before an A level exam if I needed to go over something last minute. I can’t recommend Isabel enough she is an amazing tutor and thanks to her I managed to get the German grade I was hoping for and also gained more overall confidence in my German. Izzy is a creative and patient teacher, ready to adapt and recap set deadlines so that you keep moving forward. I learn with my three children and her lessons always manage to incorporate our different skill levels.

I started learning German with Izzy in a group class before going to individual lessons when classes ended. Both experiences were very positive. Izzy Is a very enthusiastic and committed teacher who can adapt her teaching methods to personalised learning styles. I have learning disabilities (dyslexia and dyspraxia) and Izzy adapted her methods to suit those which helped my unique learning style. She is kind, patient and attentive. She also regularly develops new helpful materials to help all her students. I passed my Gothe Institute A1 exam in January with a score of 98%, for someone who always branded themselves as not able to learn languages this was a significant achievement, which I believe is attributable to Izzy’s help and support. I would not hesitate to recommend Izzy as a German teacher for groups or individuals. .

Hahn are a German owned business that supplies its products into almost every part of the world. We often have a requirement to have complex technical and legal documents translated. This can be difficult as much of the terminology is industry specific and not commonly used. Isabel does a great job translating these difficult documents and takes care to understand the words and phrases specific to our industry. I have weekly lessons with Isabel, in which we cover German grammar, conversation, reading and translation. The lessons are enjoyable and problems are well-explained.
