Funky Futon Company

I've bought tri fold plus wool futon as a replacement of our previous futon (other brand) for the guest room. We have been doing some home improvements, so we used the guest room for a couple of weeks in December. This gave me the opportunity to try it…Firstly, the smell of the futon is unpleasant and very strong. It's something I haven't experienced before - kind of a mixture of horse stable and parsnip? It has slightly improved with time, although I can smell it every time I enter the room (it's February now). The futon is extremely uncomfortable and a slim person can feel the slats of the bed through it (I'm 61kg). The mattress is sinking under the average human weight, therefore I would not allow my guests (especially my elderly parents) to sleep on it when they come to visit us. I didn't suffer from back pain until I tried the futon and my back still hurts despite slipping on a regular expensive bed mattress. I have contacted the company hoping that they would at least provide some solution to our problem. They've said that the futon is not for everyday use. That's not helpful. We used it for less than 2 weeks ONLY!I work as a physiotherapist and I'm fit, strong and have always looked after my back. Nevertheless this futon has triggered my back pain. Super comfortable, super service and a very agreeable price as well. Delivered to Manchester, hope they made back home safely. Would recommend buying from them, although the one I bought is likely to last many years to come.

What a pleasure to deal with this customer focused company, Andrew was so helpful with his advice, the Futon is just exactly what I wanted, always a bit risky when ordering on line but the service I received was excellent, I know the company will still be around if there are any problems in the future, I can't praise them enough and have no hesitation in recommending them to my friends.

A fantastic futon. We were worried about build quality when buying online but we should not have been. Ours is solid and very nicely finished. The fabric is a heavy cotton and wonderful. We have had it for about six months and it’s still as good as new. Cv130pj.

Such a lovely firm to do business with. They do what they say, on time and with smiles. Our new Devon chair/bed looks great and is very comfortable to sit on, and we think it will be just as comfortable to sleep on. Made to our requirements at a very competative price.

I can't rate these guys highly enough! I phoned them on Tuesday morning and by Thursday afternoon I had 2 chair beds made up, delivered to Nottingham (despite the van having to be dug out of the snow on the previous drop) and assembled - fantastic service! Really pleased with the beds - they look good, are very well made and a doddle to set up and put away. Lovely people to deal with as well.

We love the futon and would highly recommend to anyone. It is very sturdy and extremely comfortable. It was the cheapest one we found online which was also of great quality. With a prompt service to top it all you just can't go wrong!

We have now bought two futons (wool covered) and they really are the most comfortable 'mattress' ever. Service was great and after one of the cover zips burst (not Funky Futon's fault) they came over and mended it for us as soon as they could. Great futons, good personal service. Thoroughly recommended.

Bought a futon from these guys about 10 years ago. The frame is still in perfect nick but the mattress was beginning to show its age, so we ordered a new one a few weeks ago. There was a slight delay in getting it made up ready for collection, but the person I dealt with was super helpful and offered to deliver it for free because of the delay. Once it was ready they arrived bang on time, only for us to find that we'd ordered slightly the wrong type for the futon we have. Doh! Once again the delivery guy couldn't have been more helpful, offering to take it back and swap it even though it was our fault. We decided against, but a nice touch nonetheless. Turns out the new mattress is perfectly good anyway….

We had been looking for a Futon online and found a few. We prefer to buy locally so when Funky Futons popped up and we discovered it was close by we decided to take a look at their products. We went to their small, but clean and bright showroom and were impressed with Andrew's knowledge and his no-nonsense descriptions of their products. The quality of the materials is VERY high and all locally made, the choices are many and varied. We ended up buying a Futon with the thick comfy mattress. It is very easy to use/set up. They delivered and constructed it for us within 4 days! We would HIGHLY recommend this company.

We ordered the London Futon and are really happy with the results; easy to use and very comfortable but sturdy and well made at the same time. The guys at Funky Futon were very helpful before during and after the install, I would thoroughly recommend.

We have a classic garden room across the back of an old cottage. I searched everywhere for furniture that suited both the room and the cottage, but could find nothing that we liked. Until I found Funky Futons on the internet. We now have two beautiful, comfortable Nottingham chairs that fitted in instantly. And can also give us two extra beds if we need them. They are perfect for relaxing in on summer evenings, or catching the autumn sun while we read. Mark and Andrew's service was really good from the moment that I first contacted them. Given that they are getting a lot of sun, we discussed suitable finishes for the wood and the mattresses, and I was happy to take their advice. After having shopped around I decided to buy the York futon. Living in a flat I was worried about its delivery and whether I would be able to assemble it. I called the guys to ask about having it delivered and was pleased to find that they had a planned delivery to my area within a couple of weeks. With this date in mind the guys were able to advise the best choices in fabric etc. The futon was delivered on time and assembled with a demonstration of how to use it. The delivery fee was exceptional given it had to travel from Leeds to London. The futon is compact, looks good and most importantly very comfortable. I would definitely recommend Mark and Andrew, they know their stuff and are very helpful.

Can't rate these guys enough. The website is a brilliant experience, with videos of each futon being installed and in use. My other-half must have watched them all repeatedly before making a selection. Imagine being in a shop and asking the sales person to demonstrate every article over and over again! We ordered and arranged a date but were let down with damaged items from a certain Nordic furniture supplier that meant we were not ready for the futon in time, A quick call to these guys and delivery re-arranged, no problem. These guys know their stuff and have a great customer facing website and follow-up. The futon has been in use for while now and has been invaluable. If your looking for a reliable knowledgeable supplier, your already there!

Love my new bed! I bought the Nepal pine base as I wanted a solid and easy to transport base for my Japanese futon. I am totally delighted with it and with the level of friendly service provided. We purchased an Edinburgh sofa bed with memory foam from this company. Instructions for assembly are so brief as to be practically non-existent. The "arms" of the sofa are attached by a pair of bolts which without any additional bracing means that leaning on them causes the whole arm to move no matter how tight the bolts are. The chap on the phone clearly knows nothing about customer service other than that if you talk over the customer and keep repeating yourself then eventually they will give up and go away. Poor build quality, poor customer support - would not advise using this company.

Exceptional service from these guys. They have a lot of love for what they do and what they make and you can really tell! I purchased a 100% cotton futon and it is the most amazing mattress I have ever seen in my life. And that is really true! Not mass produced but hand-made with love.

I have had a mattress from Funky Futon before and the service I received from them at the time was exceptional. Therefore when I needed a bed for the mattress instead of the normal futon base there was only one place I would consider. They pulled out all the stops for me delivering at short notice.
