John is professional, friendly and extremely knowledgeable about Vaillant boilers. I have a very old, but thankfully fully functioning Turbo Boost boiler (at least 25 years old) and he was able to identify the model and the issue with very scant information from me over the phone in less than 2 minutes - very impressive and reassuring when you really don’t know how knowledgeable or trustworthy people can be. Price-wise, I needed an expensive part (first replacement in over 20 years), but John made sure he showed me online listing before he ordered it, although I completely trusted him then. In terms of labour costs, he comes in way under most other gas engineers. Excellent.
I don't leave too many reviews, but I want to make an exception. Because John is an honest, dependable and effective heating engineer and I'd like to spread the word. I first met him years ago when my older Potterton boiler broke down. Another guy spent hours sitting over my boiler, not repairing it, leaving us with no hot water or heating for a week, before announcing we needed a 5,000 pound new boiler - and sadly, yes, he would need to take up my carpets and my floorboards. I was desperate but not so much that I didn't seek a second opinion. I was lucky to find John - his website (as it was then) totally resonated. John repairs boilers. His intention is not to sell you a new one (if he ever told me I needed a new boiler, I would not hesitate to get one). John knows boilers. However old or obscure, he knows their parts and what they need to work. And he seems to not want to write them off; in fact he understands that older boilers were often better made and more dependable. In my experience, that is true of almost every mechanical device I have owned - the old ones won't be as pretty, but they were built to last. He said my boiler was solid and well-made. He ordered a part and fixed it straight away. The other guy could have done that too, but instead he told me a lie that I needed a new boiler. John's repair cost a couple of hundred pounds including labour. And four years later, my boiler has been trouble-free. Anyway after some time away from the UK, I need a service so I just called John, delighted that he is still thriving. And though he seems insanely busy helping folk with emergencies, he found the time to call and let me know he could do a service a bit later after restrictions lift. And he gave me a simple instruction to stop a noise that arose after a plumber fixed a leak, drained my heating system and left me with an alarming rattling noise. My insurer sent out an engineer who told me I needed a total flush costing a thousand, or a new exchanger or a new other part - all nicely expensive of course. John on the call simply told me to turn down the boiler temperature knob. The insurance guy never made this suggestion - though he took the panel off so would have seen the temperature knob. In the times I have talked to him, I have heard John mildly say "that's nonsense" of the advice given by heating engineers. So I felt moved to let other people know about someone whose advice I trust. I want to support the rare guys out there who still believe that doing an honest job counts for something….Moreexpand_more
Saved me a gruesome loss in money with other companies. Within 1 hour of my first email the boiler was up and running. Turns out a crucial part was removed, possibly to make more money of the previous tenants, now it's back on and whenever the pressure runs low I can fix it myself. The best service EVER!
This guy is top notch -- Professional and personable. Explained clearly how I could run my heating system most efficiently. Clean and tidy worker. Reasonable and clear pricing on website and paying online was straight forward. I would not hesitate to recommend his services.
Excellent and knowledgable service. We had a relatively simple (as it turned out) problem with our boiler. Thank goodness we found John at Full Flame. After being mis- sold boiler care by one of the B-i-G boys (clue in the first word there), and being ripped off by someone else who charged us £65 call out, didn't fix anything, quoted us a hugely inflated price for a new boiler or a new flue, and then backed out of the job, we struck lucky and called John at Full Flame. He simply uncapped the gas, found out what was wrong, assured us our flue was fitted correctly and completely safe (passed a combustion test no problem), fitted a new motor for the diverter, talked us through everything, was quick, polite, transparent and reasonably priced. After 5 days with no heat or hot water and feeling pretty jaded and about to stump up at least £2k for a new boiler, my faith in the British tradesman is restored. Highly recommended.
My boiler stopped working on sunday afternoon. Potential nightmare scenario! Not so, I rang john. He turned up within the hour, and dealt with the problem swiftly and knowledgeably. He told me what the problem had been and showed me how to avoid it in future. Excellent service. Highly recommended. Thanks!
Diverter valve on the boiler (Vailant) was not working. John identified the problem on the phone and came round late on a Friday night after finishing his supper! He fixed the problem quickly and efficiently. Excellent service and straightforward about costs. Much better value than other quotes I had. Would recommend him highly.
I would highly recommend Full Flame. I had a gas safety check. My boiler is now running more efficiently after a little tweaking and I have a better understanding of how the whole system works. It is the first time I have had do a safety check and it was such a relief to see the costs upfront and also to have such a helpful and friendly engineer.
Just had a boiler service and after being let down by a different company before we called Full Flame and couldn't be happier with the results! Full Flames service felt exceptional, no messing around, explained parts of the job as he went along, I would recommend the business to anyone. It felt like a fair price and a great job done. Thank you!
This was the 3rd engineer i tried, the first 2, one didnt have a clue, the other didnt even bother turning up, but this guy, turned up on time, knew what he was doing, and i was so impressed, i asked him to do my service as well, the boiler is quieter, the work was 1st class, the cost was extremely reasonable, i had a new diverter valve fitted, i shall be recommending him without hesitation to all my friends.
