About Felicity Duke - Sewing Classes
Classes are for beginners who are wanting to join the wonderfully exciting world of fabric and sewing. Students will learn to use a sewing machine and to cut from a commercial pattern in small friendly classes.
Sewing is taught in small groups with a maximum of four students. Felicity has wide knowledge of sewing, spanning over 30 years, covering many aspects including soft furnishings, clothing, toys, hats, bags etc. Therefore students are encouraged to make whatever small projects they wish.
Classes run on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays mornings and evenings.
Felicity started her training over thirty years ago at The London School of Fashion then working in London as a sample machinist at a fashion house.
In her twenties, she owned a factory in Hertfordshire supplying designer clothing to exclusive boutiques. In her thirties she moved into childrenswear, which earned her a slot on the TV programme "This Morning" with Richard Madely and Judy Finnegan. A selection of her unique childrenswear was shown from her cottage industry, The Rag-Bag Clothing Company. Over the years, she has taught at adult education centres and organised fashion shows to showcase hers and other designers work.
Besides teaching general sewing, she also teaches students to make classical ballet tutus at weekend workshops, a skill she perfected twenty years ago.
