Since I have started training with Neil I have shed over 7kg in weight and put on a noticeable amount of muscle – all in 4 months of training. Neil has always been able to motivate me and provide guidance when I have hit the inevitable bumps on my journey. I can’t recommend Neil and Ethos Virtual PT fitness enough. Neil’s knowledge, hands on experience, enthusiasm and subtle motivation have helped me change my lifestyle and eating habits for good. Neil’s main strength is the ability to listen to his clients and ensure that they can make changes to their lifestyle which they are happy with. I initially expressed a desire to not go to the gym and Neil sent a list of exercises which I could do at home using equipment. Neil’s strengths lie in his personable nature and ability to explain the exercises via Zoom or face to face. In fact, the convenience of the one to one virtual sessions is one of the reasons I use Neil over other personal trainers. I can exercise with him inside, in the garden or in the garage as long as I have an internet connection or adequate phone signal. Neil is also able to quickly identify where you are in your fitness journey and quickly recommend exercises to help you reach any goal you set. He is also more than happy to adjust the program if it isn’t working or if you simply get bored. More than anything his sessions are enjoyable which I haven’t found anywhere else. I have also found him remarkably available for support and questions as they arrive. Furthermore I feel that the changes Neil promotes can realistically be made for the long term. Rather than fad diets which make you lose weight which you immediately put back on again, this is a sustainable change which I actually enjoy. I particularly like the fact that he focuses on the concepts of what makes a good diet rather than mandating specific recipes (although excellent meals are available on request). Quite simply, the training, diet and Neil’s guidance has the way I view fitness and exercise for the better.Moreexpand_more
I have been training with Neil for over 2 years, I started off with his bootcamps which I loved so much and so started 121 PT with him which I always found really enjoyable and I built up my strength. We now do virtual PT and I like that it is more flexible, Neil has also given me the knowledge on technique and form which has equipped me well to be able to do additional home workouts in between our sessions with confidence.
I have been training with Neil continuously for about 2 years (18 months - Boot Camps and 1-to-1 sessions and the last 6 months - virtually) – I have no hesitation in endorsing "Ethos" and encourage others to experience the benefits of working with Neil to achieve your fitness and wellbeing goals. Workout sessions (albeit now virtual) do not feel at all remote – Neil is "there" and every session is tailored to you and your individual needs. He can adjust a workout or exercise if he senses I am not strong in a particular discipline - just finds another way to get there : ) And sessions are always fun - though he will push you… and that is a very important point - I personally really need the incentive to push on - Neil provides that impetus not to take the easy option! Neil's knowledge of exercise, how the "body" works and how best to fuel (diet) is crucial to maximising your gains and not undoing all that hard work with a poor diet. Society in general - has become more sedentary - I have realised how important it is to exercise regularly for my peace of mind and to be able to relax and "switch off" from the day job - Neil and "Ethos" gives structure and purpose to my exercise regime that I would find impossible to replicate.
I have been training with Neil for over a year now, and have made huge strides in my personal fitness and strength levels. The switch to virtual training has not impacted this at all - Neil remains a stickler for correct form and technique, and always pushes me to do my best. I would have no hesitation in recommending him to anyone who wants to get serious about their fitness.
I was a regular at Neil’s bootcamp for over 2 years until lockdown stopped it. I had no previous experience of personal training; I’d always thought it was just a 1:1 exercise class. What Neil delivers is so much more than that. At the initial consultation, Neil asked lots of questions about my current level of health and fitness and what I wanted to achieve from PT. From that, he devised a plan for exercise and diet including weekly PT sessions. Neil clearly has a huge depth of knowledge about exercise and nutrition and he shares this to help my understanding of how and why my decisions and actions affect my body. The PT sessions are great. Always challenging and frequently changing, Neil adapts the sessions to how I am performing that day and what he knows I can achieve, when I don’t. Although it is all through a screen, Neil is able to explain and demonstrate the adjustments I need to make to improve. Neil is really encouraging and his guidance on technique has increased my confidence in using weights. The app that Neil uses enables me to access training sessions he sets and plan and record them as well as record what I am eating. Using the app has become second nature and not the chore I thought it might be. It makes me accountable for my behaviour around food and exercise, but also records the progress I am making. The plan of diet and exercise goals Neil devised has changed my approach to food and general activity levels and in the 6 weeks I have been using it, I have seen consistent, steady improvements. Mainly, I feel stronger and more positive and definitely like this is a life-long change. As a trainer, Neil is realistic, supportive, non-judgemental and really listens. What he delivers is so, so much more than weekly instruction. I recommend Neil as a trainer to anyone, wherever your at and wherever you want to get to.Moreexpand_more
I had been training with Neil for around 18 months twice a week when lock down struck. Neil informed me he would be training via Zoom to protect his family and other clients. Initially I was curious as to how this would work. Our first Zoom session confirmed training would be very effective. Neil trained me during our initial on line session with no fitness equipment. It was a great work out - with as much laughter is normal - which for me is crucial. I have a reasonable inventory of fitness equipment - Neil was able to utilise all of this and continually critique my form to ensure maximum results and reduce risk of injury. Neil has an appealing straight forward approach to PT, nutrition and life style. To see results, you have to change. He continues to promote this online. The sessions with Neil are a combination of being pushed to my limit under expert tuition and laughter. I intend to continue training with Neil as my gains continue to grow with every week. I started attending Neil’s bootcamp sessions on a Monday night in a field in Croydon probably 2 years ago now, then adding personal one to one PT sessions since last autumn. The group is so friendly and welcoming when you join - not at all intimidating and Neil is encouraging and supportive whilst pushing you to do the best you can. Despite everything now being remote, Neil has maintained the personal service he always provided and is still able to motivate, direct and instruct across a zoom link. My fitness has increased enormously and also my strength. I never had any muscle definition or upper body strength and working with Neil has made me stronger and fitter than I have ever been. I didn’t imagine I’d be lifting more than my body weight and able to do press ups or chin ups before! Neil helps with diet and nutrition and holds you accountable without making you feel guilty. As a result I feel happier about my physical appearance and health than ever before. I’d highly recommend Neils classes and PT sessions if you want to make positive changes to your wellbeing and fitness!Moreexpand_more
I just yesterday passed my pre joining fitness test for the Royal Marines, with a strong score. I can’t thank Neil enough for training me these last few months at the bootcamp on a Monday night as attending these has rapidly increased my fitness and endurance to a level that I had never reached before and ultimately helped with my test. Would recommend to anyone who is interested in a career in the marines and needs to boost their fitness or even just those looking to get fit in general. The classes are hard work but are most enjoyable.
I've been going to this bootcamp for over a year now. Ever since I started I have felt welcome by Neil the trainer and the group, you don't feel awkward as a newcomer and it really doesn't matter what level of fitness you have. The circuits you do are really fun but challenging, what I find makes it so different to any other bootcamp is the amount and kind of equipment that is used such as tyres, slam balls, ropes etc. You feel and become strong using it The trainer is fantastic and you can ask him anything as he is so down to earth, is a laugh and he's happy to advise. When I had an injury he was very supportive and sent me exercises to help me get back on track sooner. This is seriously the only bootcamp I have been to so consistently and for so long as I look forward to going to it. Also if you put in the work you will definitely see results!
I began PT sessions with Neil in January 2019 and my only regret is that I didn't start sooner with him. Neil's attention to detail and extensive knowledge has allowed to help me make excellent strides towards my fitness goals. Along with the fitness goals he has worked with me to build a solid nutritional foundation which works for my lifestyle and something that I can be committed to. I would happily recommend Neil to anyone who wants to take their training to another level!
Neil is a brilliant trainer, with a deep understanding and commitment to correct form. After incurring several motivation-destroying injuries attempting barbell training before working with Neil, I bit the bullet and signed up for a one-to-one training plan. Neil immediately identified where I was going wrong with certain lifts and helped me put in place simple steps for each exercise to ensure I lift safely. My lifts now feel more natural and safer, I am enjoying training again and I feel much more confident. I'm already seeing big changes to my body and am excited to see how far I can go under his guidance. More generally, Neil offers great motivation and advice on diet, mobility and ways to train smarter. I cannot recommend him more highly.
I have been going to Neil’s bootcamp for 6 months now on a Monday night. It’s the first time I had ever done this kind of exercise. Neil is a great motivator and clearly explains all the techniques of circuit training. It is a friendly atmosphere which makes you want to return each week! I really enjoy it and feel fitter and full of beans after going ! Highly recommend giving it a go you won’t look back!
I have been going to the Monday night Bootcamp for about 8 months and still enjoy the Tuesday afternoon ache. Neil encourages us to push ourselves a little further every time without being too shouty. I’m stronger and fitter now and I definitely benefit from the time out in the fresh air. The group is friendly and not super competitive, but we’re all there to push ourselves. I’d recommend Bootcamp to anyone wanting to feel better in their body and head.
I have been a client of Neil's for over 3 years. One of the most important elements to changing your body shape, is developing your lifestyle into a healthy, enjoyable one. Neil is a nutritionist and educated me on a wide range of practical nutritional advice, which enabled me to overhaul the sorts of foods I was eating. 80% of your success comes down to eating the right sorts of nutrients. The remaining 20% is addressed with high intensity workouts, that will strengthen and tone your whole body. If you want to take positive steps to change your life, then I would highly recommend calling Neil right away!
Absolutely love Nmarie fitness. The bootcamp session are really fun and different from others I have done in the past. Neil is postive and pushes to get the best result out of you. All levels of fitness are welcome to the session and the group are really supportive and encouraging. I have seen the results in myself from the bootcamp session, which I'm chuffed with. I have a fair few sport related injuries and Neil helps me adapt moves to aid my recovery. Come rain or shine they are brilliant sessions. ? .
Neil's classes are fantastic… feel my stomach has really been worked since joining… both through the workout but also the great banter and atmosphere at his Monday night sessions. Highly recommend his classes. They are perfect. The exercises, atmosphere and venue are all really great for feeling like an actual (pretend) marine.
I have been attending the boot camp for the past 6 months and I really look forward to it every week. I hesitated initially to join but I am happy to say I really enjoy it now. Its a tough 50 minutes of exercise and you have to push really hard but everyone can do this. I get more energy to push myself by looking at other participants across all age groups, its a great team.
