Electric Vehicles UK is dedicated to supporting the EV industry and consumers alike. We're enabling the switch to battery electric vehicles by explaining the benefits, educating the masses and busting the myths.

Launched in September 2024 as an industry to consumer body, Electric Vehicles UK is dedicated to supporting the EV industry and drivers alike. Formed to tackle misinformation about electric vehicles (EVs) and showcase the benefits of battery-powered transportation, our mission is to build consumer confidence by providing accurate, balanced, and accessible information about EVs.

The team, with over 1 million miles driven collectively, is supported by an advisory board of esteemed EV experts and a combination of more than 120 founding members and supporting partners, as well as over 1000 EV drivers. We are inspired by current and future EV owners to improve the understanding of EVs and dispel common myths and misconceptions.

Our mission has been informed through more than 200 meetings with EV industry stakeholders, including; carmakers (legacy and new), charging companies (domestic, destination and en-route), energy suppliers, app providers, battery makers, EV conversion businesses, fleet management firms, leasing companies, insurance providers, payment solution providers, financial services, roadside assistance, tyre providers, charitable organisations, consultancies, environmental groups, press stakeholders, political stakeholders, advocate groups, including trade associations, research organisations, data providers, news/website providers, podcasters, youtube channels, event organisers, as well as adjacent technology providers (e. G. Solar).

At Electric Vehicles UK (EVUK), we’re enabling the switch to battery electric vehicles (BEVs) by explaining the benefits, educating the masses and busting the myths. We are working tirelessly on behalf of the EV industry to break down barriers for potential end-users by:

- Creating a new narrative and eliminating misinformation.
- Clearly communicating the benefits of clean air (e.G. , reducing cancer, heart disease, respiratory disorders, and even autism).
- Clarifying what EVs really are (no engine, no exhaust).
- Demonstrating that EVs represent superior technology.
- Explaining why over 9 out of 10 EV drivers will never go back.
- Reinforcing the cost benefits of EVs (e.G. , running costs).
- Ensuring all consumers have the opportunity to participate.
- Highlighting affordable new and used EVs for sale, with an increasing number of options available.

1 CHEAPER THAN YOU THINK.
Over 80% of car sales in the UK are used. You can now buy a reliable (and enjoyable) used BMW i3 from as little as £5,000. With increasingly affordable models, battery EVs are accessible to all.
2 MUCH CHEAPER TO RUN.
Drivers can save £1000, on fuel annually (based on average 12,000 miles per annum) simply by charging overnight. EVs also save on servicing and maintenance costs and you can still drive electric without a driveway.
3 WIDE RANGE and LONG RANGE.
With over 120 EV models on sale in the UK, most offer 200-250 miles on a single charge, covering the average UK’s 130-mile weekly driving needs, so most EV drivers will only charge once or twice weekly.
4 CLEANER TO MAKE.
While their initial manufacture is more intensive, models like a Tesla Model Y repays its carbon footprint after 13,000 miles and will outlast combustion cars by hundreds of thousands of miles. Plus batteries are also reusable and recyclable.
5 SAFER THAN YOU THINK.
First generation battery electric vehicles are already 19 times less likely to catch fire than combustion engine cars, and with new chemistries like lithium-ion phosphate (LFP), are even less likely to do so. The bulk of EVs, now being made, have LFP batteries.
6 UNCOMMONLY MOREISH.
Over 90% of EV owners say they’ll never return to a conventional vehicle. EVs are much easier to drive than a manual car, smoother and quieter too, the driving experience is winning people over; permanently.
7 FUTURE-PROOFED.
EVs are smart vehicles. Many EVs improve over time with software that updates 'over the air'. What's more, many battery electric vehicles are now bidirectional, giving you a money-saving 'battery on wheels' that can also beat blackouts.
