Edward repaired my old violin, replaced the bridge and set it up properly. It's now like a different instrument: it's now much more comfortable to play, is easy to tune and sounds great - and all in two days!

Edward did a great job rehairing my two violin bows. While we waited, my son and l were able to try some of the violins and bows in his collection and were very impressed with the way all the instruments were set up. We particularly liked two of his own violins and highly recommend his workmanship alongside his helpful and friendly manner.

Very good service. I had an emergency repair (broken bridge) and Edward Gaut got the repair done in the day, for no extra cost, and I was able to play my gig in the evening. Fantastic quality work !

Gave really good advice and supplied a great Violin. Daughter was very happy. Will be going back as and when adjustments are needed would highly recommend. If you don't know what you need e-mail or phone he will give you good sound advice.

My cello had a tumble on a bus in Bristol. I found a couple of cracks and although I was insured I didn't know who could help me. I could only find violin repairs businesses but when I rang Edward up he said he looks at cellos too. He was able to look at my cello as soon as he possibly could and gave me a quote while I enquired with my insurance company about the incident. Once they had approved the claim and spoken to Edward, I just dropped my cello off (in his very nice home) and was able to borrow one of his cellos. I felt my cello was in safe hands and it was all very easy with the insurance stuff - I didn't need to pay any invoices etc. After a couple of weeks I picked up my cello and it sounds better than ever. The cracks are restored and there is a new bridge and I'm very happy. I was also able to try out a new bow while I lent the other cello. Would highly recommend!Moreexpand_more

I took my very badly damaged cello to Edward Gaut expecting him to say it was irrepairable. He painstakingly restored it to its former state and I was delighted with his workmanship and professionalism.

Edward fixed my violin after I found it cracked across the body within its case. He restored it entirely and I found his service to be friendly and approachable. He was also competitive in price when compared with the Bristol violin shop. Edward is a great workman. Give him a go. I would always go straight back without seeking other quotes in the future.

I had the pleasure of renting a violin for several weeks from Edward Gaut Violins, so I could try it out in my own time. When it came to making the jump into actually buying one he was very helpful in finding the right instrument for me in my price range. A proper individualised service, which wasn't rushed - to make sure it was the right one for me. I'm so happy with it and it is set up really nicely and easy to play. Such good service means Edward is now my first port of call when I need something violin related - I've been playing so much Edward has already had to re-hair my bow!

I have just a my cello back from repair here and I'm really pleased with the work. It was only a small crack paralell to the bass bar so not really major work but more than competently completed all the same. Cheers Ed.
