About Eco Hub

At the Eco Hub, we are deeply passionate about arranging free grants in Yorkshire because we believe in empowering our local communities to take meaningful action against climate change while improving their quality of life.

Our commitment stems from the urgent need to reduce carbon emissions, alleviate fuel poverty, and create more sustainable, energy-efficient homes across the region.

The ECO4 scheme is a UK government initiative aimed at improving energy efficiency in low-income and vulnerable households.  Launched in April 2022, it's the fourth phase of the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) program.  The scheme provides grants for various home improvements, including:

Insulation (loft, roof, cavity wall, and solid wall).
Installation of greener heating systems like heat pumps.
Solar PV installations.
Installation of heating controls.

Eligible households are typically those receiving certain benefits.  The grants are funded by energy suppliers and can cover up to 100% of the costs for energy efficiency improvements.  The main goals of ECO4 are to reduce energy bills, improve home comfort, and help the UK meet its net-zero emissions target by 2050.

The Great British Insulation Scheme (GBIS) is a government programme designed to enhance energy efficiency in homes with Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) ratings of D or below.

It provides funding for insulation measures, primarily focusing on cavity wall insulation, with the possibility of other types of insulation as well. The scheme targets households in specific council tax bands (A–D) and aims to reduce energy costs, improve home comfort, and contribute to the UK's carbon reduction goals. GBIS runs alongside the existing ECO4 scheme and is part of the broader Energy Company Obligation (ECO) initiative, which places legal obligations on energy suppliers to deliver energy efficiency measures to domestic premises.
