The BEST kennel in the area. The love given and the fuss made of our two little dachshunds was exemplary!

Our dogs enjoy their stays at Duck End enormously and although I doubt our dogs loyalty, it is nice to see them bound up to Martin and his team. The staff are very accommodating and nothing seems to be too much trouble. We would certainly recommend Duck End Kennels.

Our dog Daisy has been holidaying with Martin for the last 8 years. I know she enjoys it because when Martin brings her home she sniffs round the house while Martin informs me of her stay then when he goes to leave she's at the front door ready to go back with him! Our puppy Westie joined Daisy last year and it is obvious he enjoys himself as well. Knowing this enables me to go on holiday and not worry about the dogs. Martin obviously takes an interest in the dogs in his care because he will often relate incidents of what my two have been up to. He is always very obliging and tries his hardest to fit them in when we want to pop away for a few days last minute. I've never tried another kennels but now I wouldn't want to!

We have two Westies and we have historically been nervous about leaving them or entrusting them to others. Having been recommended to Duck End we were still very concerned when we dropped the dogs off for their first stay but we needn't have worried. The dogs love visiting "Uncle Martin" and it is joyous to watch their faces as they realise where they are going and how they love being in the outside enclosures having fun with the other "runners"! We have found the fees charged by Duck End to be no more expensive than any other kennels in North Essex but when it comes to the dogs' well-being nothing is too good and in our view Duck End is as good as it gets and over the last 6 years has consistently provided excellent care at all times of the year.

I gave my deposit over the phone and it was held by Duck End to carry on for further bookings. When I asked for it back, I was informed that I had lost it as I had cancelled a booking several months ago. I had cancelled a good week in advance, so I was a little shocked to find I had lost my deposit for this. I think this is wrong, and if you cancel in time then the deposit should be safe. They also charge for the full day even if you collect first thing, which other kennels do not. All in all, a great kennels, but over priced, and a little bit of a con with the deposit, i would reccomend looking elsewhere!
Response : I'm afraid that when the kennels are full and we have turned customers away a week is nowhere near enough notice and £25 cancellation fee only goes a little way towards compensating having an empty kennel but it's better for the customer than charging for the full amount as some kennels do. Certainly not overpriced if you compare us to other kennels in the area & most kennels charge for day of collection as the customer has the choice of what time they want to collect. I can totally agree that we are a great kennels are worth giving a try.
