Domaine have worked tirelessly to assist me regularise a non compliant listed building and to maximise its potential both within the existing building and for a rear extension. The task was made difficult by the local planning authority (Brighton and Hove) and a less than helpful Historic Building section. We had to go to appeal before obtaining the approvals required. Thereafter Domain have produced detailed design drawings and steered me through the process leading to construction with clarity and professionalism.
Domain Ltd had to obtain listed building consent for us to be able to build a party/fire wall. In the attic space of a Grade 1 Listed building. They carried out the drawings and sent off the application immediately. And we are delighted that the application has now been approved. They were extremely helpful and efficient.
We used Domain to design a small 2 bedroom garden house in a small, difficult site that had previously had planning refused. They quoted us a very fair price and spent a great amount of time discussing the project with us in a very friendly, easy to follow manner. Never did we get the sense that the clock was ticking or we were taking too much of their time. The design they produced was innovative, contemporary and very stylish. They were a real pleasure to deal with and their invoice was exactly as quoted. I wish we'd discovered them years ago and would highly recommend them.
Duncan and his team provided a very professional service from start to finish, I was impressed with the speed in which they handled my project in order to ensure my planning application was issued to the local council before the end of the year. I'll be using Domain for all of my future projects.
I engaged Domain to obtain the necessary listed building consents for the renovation of a Regency flat. Duncan's experience and knowledge helped to create a sympathetic design which would be acceptable to the heritage officer. He listened to our ideas, made helpful suggestions (without imposing them on us) and drew up the plans quickly. The work came within the estimated cost. I recommend Domain for the detailed work required where making alterations to a listed property.
Domain are currently working on their fourth job for us, including a successful planning appeal and listed building application. Their small professional team work hard giving a personal service to achieve the best result with design, construction and cost being equally considered. We highly recommend them.
Personal, approachable and professional service, fully explaining each part of the process to me, as a complete novice to design and planning applications. They liaised with the council on each detail, keeping me well informed as their client, and provided very thorough plans, meaning the approval came through in the anticipated timeframe.
Domain provided a full service solution from concept and design to administrating and inspecting the building contract. Enormously helpful throughout and is a must for anyone thinking of doing more than a simple/basic extension. You are likely to save more money (and stress) in the long run by getting yourself a great architect like Domain than trying to deal with builders direct. On a scale of 1-10 (with 10 being the highest), would I recommend Domain to a friend? I would say a 9. Matt (Hove).
Duncan of Domain was instrumental in turning my development ideas into reality. After an initial meeting at the property I wanted to update, he then sent me examples of his previous work and what I could expect to receive from him, along with a breakdown of his quote for the work he was to carry out. Over the course of a few months and various meetings, we then finalised the design and structure of the development - loft conversion, building over the existing garage and an extension to the living area on the ground floor - ready to submit to the Council. The Planning permission was granted without a hitch and the Building Regulations approval followed shortly after, which speaks volumes for Duncan's attention to detail and professional knowledge of the Planning system. Overall working with Duncan has been a pleasure throughout what can sometimes be a stressful time for a developer. I would have no reservations whatsoever in recommending his services and will definitely be using him again for my next development.
Duncan designed a substantial single storey extension to our home. The design is superb and his attention to detail is second to none. Planning permission was sought and granted easily. Duncan is thorough and worked very hard to make our extension exactly or even better than we imagined it could be, introducing excellent ideas and products. He was highly involved in our project and took tenders from builders and found an excellent building firm for us. Duncan managed the build, which I highly recommend, as he ensured everything ran smoothly. Certain elements and materials for the build were organised in good time, the finishing was done to a very high standard partly due to Duncan's talent for ensuring things are done properly. We are delighted with the result and would highly recommend Duncan from Domain Ltd. Excellent service.
Duncan provided us with some excellent 'Existing Rear Elevation' and 'Proposed Rear Elevation' drawings of the building I live in at a very fair price and at lightning speed. Turnaround from the initial call to the creation and emailing of the plans was 3 days total. The officer at the council responded upon receipt of the plans that they were 'exactly what we wanted'. I expect Duncan's work will enable us all the more to get planning permission to install some Velux windows in our roof-line. I would definitely use Domain Ltd. 's services again.
Duncan provided some invaluable advice and information for some renovation work needed on our property. He was very kind about it, taking the time to talk us (not especially knowledgeable! ) through various options and ideas, as well as the most cost effective solutions. He then took the trouble to write up the specifications he felt were necessary. In all this he was extremely friendly and helpful, focused on helping us get the best end result. His help has helped us to get a very clear quote for the works to be carried out and probably helped us avoid making some stupid mistakes! With all that in mind I'd definitely recommend Domain Ltd as a company!
