Des Sherwood Guitar Tuition

Having tried to teach myself guitar for a few months and not really making any progress I decided to book myself lessons. Booking lessons with Des was very straight forward and it was instantly clear that he was able to adapt his tutoring style to my individual learning needs. Des is a very patient tutor and I noticed my playing improve straight away following his advice on working on my playing techniques. His ability to listen to a song I have chosen and play it back is amazing. Would highly recommend Des to anyone looking to improve their playing.

Been having lessons with des for a couple of years now and he restored my faith in tutors-enjoy every lesson - des asks what you want to do-then structures his tuition around it-- and any songs you'd like to learn, once mastered-are recorded for you to take home-des is flexible with lesson times which helps greatly .

I've had lessons with Des for around 6 years and I've enjoyed every minute of it! He makes lessons fun, enjoyable and I've learnt so much over the years. I couldn't play a single thing before starting my lessons and now thanks to Des I get compliments on how well I play! Des is such an amazing guitarist, I have never come across a more talented musician. His knowledge, techniques and experience are outstanding. I have been having lessons with Des for over 5 years. Lessons are laid back, productive and a good laugh. Des is able to identify weaknesses in my playing and suggest ways to improve and I always leave a lesson knowing what I have to work on for the next week. Des is a phenomenal guitarist and has decades of experience. Having lessons from Des is one of the best decisions I have ever made.

Ive been taking guitar lessons off Des now for just over 12 months and it's just great. Des is a RGT instructor and we are going through this route to give the learning some structure. But Des is happy to mix the lessons up and work out songs I want to play then teach me them, or run over some music theory etc etc (as he does know he's theory too! ). Its pretty clear Des is a talented guitarist, but also a good tutor too who pushes me to actually learn to play. Lessons are always varied which keeps it fresh and interesting. Totally recommended.

Des knows any style you will ever want to learn. Can always pick out a fault in your playing and give and exercise to fix it so you will always improve. Great writer as well and Des will often make suggestions to my original songs.

Des is a great teacher and has taught me almost everything I know, couldn't recommend enough!

Des is very knowledgeable and professional. His command of music theory, scales, chords etc is second to none. He is very flexible and adaptable to the students’ particular requirements and so can provide expert help and advice at whatever level, or on whichever piece of music is required. I particularly enjoyed and benefitted from his teaching of vibrato and damping techniques, which I have never seen or heard demonstrated so effectively. Apart from that he is an open and friendly guy, making lessons enjoyable too. My knowledge and technique has improved drastically due to Des’ lessons – I would thoroughly recommend him.
