Back to Gordon again, this time to repair a very fragile broken hand from a lantern clock which he successfully soldered back and additionally made adjustments to the passing bell strike and chapter ring. Very professional as always, he always goes the extra mile.
I contacted Gordon with a view to arranging a repair to my clock but in our discussions he identified what was needed, which amounted to only a minor adjustment. Having a rudimentary knowledge of clocks gained at school many years ago, he was able to talk me through it. The clock has been running perfectly ever since. Many thanks for your help Gordon.
As someone who has zero DIY skills and no knowledge whatsoever of clocks, I contacted Gordon about my G/F clock that was chiming (on the quarter hours but) 10 minutes late! He identified the issue and gave me some advice how to 're-set' the collet in the minute hand plus some other general advice. I was not optimistic(! ) but managed, with a little help from a friend, to re-set it by 30 degrees required. It now chimes 4 times an hour perfectly! His advice, and especially his patience, was invaluable. .
Gordon serviced my little carriage clock- he carried out a sterling job, and I have no hesitation in recommending his service to others. He quoted a good price to do the job and kept to his word. Its hard to find craftsmen of this calibre these days and I am thankful I found him.
I phoned Gordon with a problem I was unable to sort out with my elderly granddaughter clock. He was extremely patient and talked me through the problem and hopefully the chimes will now work correctly. I will certainly contact him again if/when my clock needs some tlc in the future.
I contacted Gordon for an independent opinion on what could be a relatively valuable antique in need of sympathetic economic restoration. I explained the situation with some photographs and asked for his opinion. He answered my enquiry almost immediately with an estimate based on minimum outlay required. This was all realistic solid advice. I have no doubt Gordon's passion is to conserve these delicate instruments. I have no doubt anything Gordon undertakes is carried out with the utmost skill and integrity.
I contacted Gordon after finding Horologica on Google and was delighted by his positive attitude. He fixed my Vienna clock speedily and efficiently, kept me well informed, his charges were very reasonable. I couldn't be more positive about his service. Outstanding!
I contacted Horologica about advice on a barometer and received a very helpful, friendly email back within 24 hours offering information and help. As I do not live that close to the shop, I have not been able to visit as yet but am impressed with knowledge and information provided so far. Please note that I cannot accurately rate value for money or quality as I have not had my barometer repaired as yet. This website will not allow me to only rate service - which is all I have experienced so far….
We had a problem with our old long case clock, which had stopped and the hour hand seemed to have jammed so we telephoned Gordon with a view to asking him if he would be able to repair and service it. However he very kindly took the time to suggest over the phone what the problem might be, and to tell us step by step how we might get it going again ourselves, and success! The clock is at present working once more. If it fails again, I will have no hesitation in asking him to service it. He was exceptionally helpful and knowledgeable.
I received absolutely first class information and advice over the phone on two clocks in my possession, couldn't have been better in any way. Very very impressed by the enthusiasm and interest in which my query - regarding fusee clock movement was answered, web-site also very helpful.
I was setting up my longcase clock after it had been in store for 2 years. The website was fantastic, gave me advice as to how to do this. I had a small problem the strike just kept on sounding, so I emailed asking advice. I was amazed to receive a call, following that I was confident enough to have another go and bingo my ancient clock is now working perfectly - many many thanks.
