About CKP Railways PLC
Based in Carlisle, CKP Railways PLC is a small but dedicated company which has undertaken feasibility studies, design, negotiation and development work to reopen the Keswick to Penrith Railway to provide an all-day, every-day modern train service for the Northern Lake District. The eventual train service is intended to provide transport for residents and visitors alike, enabling anyone to live, work or relax in the Northern Lake District.
The company is managed by Cedric Martindale, a Chartered Engineer and Logistics / Transport Professional who worked for British Rail and its successors, and has undertaken Railway cosntruction and development projects abroad.
The Directors of the Company receive no payment for their role in reopening the Railway to Keswick.
All funding is used only for the purpose of developing and re-opening the Railway. Most funding to date has come from the sale of Bonds to supporters, totalling about three hundred and fifty thousand pounds by the end of 2007.
