About Cathaven Lodge
Leaving your cat(s) in someone else's care while you go on holiday can be quite difficult - emotionally - at the best of times, but leaving them (for example) if they are very old, very young, nervous, or ill and on medication, makes it doubly difficult.
That's where the level of care provided by Cathaven Lodge may be of help to you.
Cathaven Lodge is a unique 'INDOOR' facility - a "Home from Home" - made up of a small suite of rooms specifically designed and set up for the care of those cats which may require just that bit more attention because of old/young age, nervousness, illness or simply that they prefer to be indoors. Cathaven Lodge consists of single and multiple accommodation, and provides all the advantages of a quality cattery - in the home.
Cathaven Lodge holds a Plymouth City Council 5 Star-Rated Animal Activity License (License No: A007), is fully insured, and is particularly well equipped to care for those cats which may find difficulty in coping in a busy outdoor cattery.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Because the accommodation at Cathaven Lodge is all indoor, it is NOT SUITABLE for young fit adult cats which enjoy going outside to play/explore each day.
The Cat Rooms: Each room is light and airy, warm and well equipped, and offers:
- Lots of comfortable sleeping and hideaway areas - at different levels - to accommodate those with (for example) arthritis;
- Large open (or covered) litter trays, located according to need;
- Water fountains;
- Coloured television and radios;
- BLINK cameras;
- Windows which open but which are fitted with child window restraints for safety/security;
- Everything that is required during the stay is located within the room.
At Cathaven Lodge my aim is to provide a real "Home from Home" experience for your cat(s) while you are away, and I like to treat all visiting cats as simply members of our 'extended family' here at Cathaven Lodge.
Conditions of Boarding: Evidence of an up-to-date vaccination record, providing protection against Intestinal Feline Enteritis and Cat Flu, must be provided. All cats must be free of parasites and may be checked on arrival. Any evidence of fleas or worms will be treated immediately, at the owner's expense. Any cat taken ill during its stay will receive Veterinary treatment at the owner's expense; costs to be reimbursed if covered by the Cathaven Lodge insurance.
ALL CATS MUST BE NEUTERED/SPAYED UNLESS UNDER 6 MONTHS OLD.
Boarding Fees, as from 6th April 2025:
1 x cat = £14.00 per room/per night.
2 x cats = £22.00 per room/per night.
3 x cats = £27.00 per room/per night.
Special negotiated rates for larger family groups and/or stays exceeding six weeks are available.

Cathaven Lodge is open for bookings but closed to visitors over the immediate Christmas period.
And finally, a bit about me: My name is Liz Anstey and I own Cathaven Lodge. I am the Cattery License Holder and my License Number is A007. My previous experience of caring for other people's cats started in 1997, when I set up Cathaven Garden Cattery, located in Plymstock, Plymouth. 'Cathaven' became well known locally as being a cattery which provided very high quality care and, as a consequence, as always very busy. However finally, in December 2013, I retired, dismantled the cattery, sold all my chalets and equipment and moved house, intending to spend my retirement 'doing a bit of crafting'. However, I didn't want to just stop caring for people's lovely cats. Also, there were many cats which had been coming to stay with me at Cathaven for many years - some since the first year! This meant that there were many elderly cats that still needed care, and which I really still wanted to care for; particularly as their owners had supported me over so many years. Hence, the idea of 'Cathaven Lodge' was born, and is now becoming a very popular indoor facility for both previous and new customers throughout the local Plymouth area.
Finally, some copies of my book (written in 2014/2015) entitled: "If Only I Could Talk." are still available from Cathaven Lodge. At just £5 per copy, with a contribution of £1 per copy sold going to Cats' Protection, Plymouth, it makes a 'PURRFECT' gift for any cat owner/lover.
