Canine behaviour consultations involve assessing your dog's body language and interactions, the emotions and other factors underlying your dog's behaviour behaviour. Dog behaviour sessions can help you learn how to support your dog to help them start to learn an alternative response. Issues may include anxiety, fear, frustration, sensitivity and/or reactivity, hyperactivity, excessive vocalisation, separation anxiety, overly-boisterous or destructive behaviour and more.
I am totally committed to kind methods of dog training and behaviour modification that are geared to the individual needs and motivations of your dog. One to one dog training is reward based while canine behaviour modification aims to not only promote a calm environment within which learning can take place but to help your dog learn to regulate their emotions and gain more neutral or positive associations with the people, animals, objects or situations which which they may not be comfortable.
I have a wealth of experience of dog training and addressing a range of behaviour issues whilst working with National Animal Welfare Trust, as a volunteer dog trainer with Hearing Dogs for Deaf People and, latterly, for around nine years with Medical Detection Dogs. I started my own dog care and training business in 2013 and set up Canine Potential to focus exclusively on dog training and behaviour support in 2020. My masters degree included the psychology of animal behaviour. I have an advanced diploma in applied canine behaviour with distinction, am an accredited PACT member, and a registered Animal Training Instructor with the Animal Behaviour and Training Council.
