Best Sweep Chimney Sweeps

Bruce has been sweeping our stove chimney for several years and he spotted damp entering the stove - a cowl problem he said. So he gave us a quote for new cowls for these crown chimney pots, but once scaffolding up he found a) no cowl had been fitted at the stove installation 10 years ago and that b) where pots join the chimneys was in a poor state and some brickwork needed repairing too. Unexpected expense for us, however he managed to fit in and complete the extra work before the original scheduled date and the final bill was less than the estimate. All left very clean an tidy, can highly recommend Best Chimney Sweeps.

Bruce arrived on time, finished the job carefully and fully, then took the time to show me things and help place the CO alarm. Everything was super Covid-safe. Paying was mega efficient and I got some follow-up tips. This is small - business service at its best, highly recommended.

Bruce and team managed to fit us into his schedule at the last minute when the inside of our wood burner spontaneously collapsed a few weeks ahead of our annual sweep. Not only were two chimneys swept quickly, efficiently and cleanly but he also reassembled our stove from a pile of metal fittings that had either fallen out or that we'd taken out in the (mistaken) belief that this would help us put it all back together ourselves. We were very pleased with the result and at being able to have a fire again. Also, he didn't make us feel stupid about what we'd done. We will definitely use Best Sweep for all future chimney sweeping and will remember to have lapsang souchong in stock next time.

Bruce and Jack did another excellent job sweeping our chimney. We had some problems with tar building up in the flue - a potential fire hazard. The problem was sorted out with Bruce's usual professionalism and efficiency. Brilliant service, I would highly recommend. Kay Collins.

We needed some extensive Chimney stack repair work on our roof. From the start Bruce’s service was excellent. He turned up at the time arranged with a whole bag of tools to properly diagnose our issues. The quotation he provided was thorough and clearly explained what services would be provided. Bruce and his assistant did an excellent job, taking photos and keeping us updated throughout. Bruce was able to salvage one of the original chimney pots too which was nice to keep. The work (now finished) looks fantastic and we are very happy with the service we received. Bruce included before and after photos in the invoice, which again clearly highlighted services that were provided, making it really easy to see. Bruce also swept our chimney before leaving and left our log burner and hearth sparkling - we weren’t expecting such a lovely clean on the burner and surrounding areas, so that was nice to see too. We are delighted to leave a 5 star review for Best Sweep, especially as there aren’t many reviews for Best Sweeps external chimney stack work (most of the reviews are for sweeping and internal fireplace work). Moved into a new property, and knew the chimney hadn't been swept by the last owner. Contacted Bruce via the website, and had an immediate response. Bruce arrived the following weekend, on time, and set to work. Only took 45 minutes or so, and he ensured that the carpet and surrounding areas were well covered, so there was no mess whatsoever after the job was done. Highly recommended - not only a quick, thorough job, but a very nice guy too. Will certainly be getting him back to do the annual sweep next year! Tom.

It isn't often that you get to meet service providers that are as professional, understanding and customer-oriented as Bruce. Bruce came to sweep the chimney in the house we just moved into and in addition to his very clean job (you couldn't tell he came over to sweep the chimney) he gave me great recommendations to ensure my installation will be safe. In addition, Bruce took time to explain to me his work so that I could understand everything, and so that I could make the right choices in the future to ensure a safe use of our fireplace. I couldn't recommend him more.

Very quick clean and efficient.

We needed our wood burner flue swept as it was clearly blowing smoke back into the room when door slightly open. I emailed them asking for a quote as I had seen some firms that suggested they charge more for travelling out of Bristol, and their website appeared professional. The response I received was quick ( within an hour) and then I was given a price based on our flue having been swept on an annual basis. I said this was not the case and then I as given another price, which was stated as a maximum. I was satisfied and they booked in to carry out the job. This was carried out today and Bruce who did the work was early, polite and very professional. The flue was particularly bad and he had to do track work over and above what that which I had expected. Once finished he tested the burner and ensured our carbon monoxide alarm was working. He gave me advice on the type of flue I had and the appropriate fuels to use. I have no hesitation in recommending them due to all the above and the fa t that the final price was less than the maximum I had been quoted even allowing for the state of our flue.Moreexpand_more

Bruce sorted out our chimney for the new wood burning stove. It had not been cleaned for over 100 years and was quite exceptionally dirty with a build up of a hard tarry deposit. He was the only person with the necessary equipment to do the job and until he came along we were despairing of ever getting our stove up and running. I would very strongly recommend him. A very professional service.

Bruce volunteered detailed advice when I rang to ask for an opinion about a potentially unsafe liner installation. After initially stating he was fully booked, he then went out of his way to rearrange his calendar and come out to power sweep our chimney at the end of the day on Friday night of the same week. Thus ensuring we could go ahead with our stove installation in a timely fashion. He was extremely professional, kept me fully informed at all stages and did exactly what he said he would, when he said he would. A rare thing these days. Will be booking in again next spring for sure.
