If you're looking for a beginner mantrailing course Barkleys is great. Gee and the team are absolutely fantastic so professional, friendly, and they taught us loads. Seeing how much all the dogs loved the training was the best part; the energy and atmosphere were brilliant. This course was the perfect introduction to mantrailing, and we learned so much! My dog absolutely thrived and did so well. They even filmed our trails and sent them to us so we can learn from them at home. We both had a blast and thoroughly enjoyed every minute. Can't recommend Barkleys enough!

We recently completed the introduction to mantrailing course with our 1 year old Show Cocker Spaniel, Mabel. I can honestly say it was one of my favourite things to have done with Mabel and I can't wait to book onto a progression course. Leading the session, Gee and Chris, were amazing at talking us through this new skill while it was great fun watching how the other mantrailing teams went about following the trails. Would 100% recommend to anyone!
We took our 11 month old husky, Finn, to the Excitable Dog Workshop, and I am so glad we did. Finn is a big, lovable 30kg bundle of energy, generally well-behaved, but on the lead he becomes a social whirlwind, lunging toward every dog and person he sees out of sheer excitement. From the very first session, we saw immediate results. Finn wasn’t the only one bouncing off the walls, his classmates were just as loud and lively, but Abbie handled the group with calm expertise and a clear commitment to positive reinforcement. No scolding, no harsh corrections, just kind, reward-based strategies that helped every dog (and owner! ) feel more calm. Finn responded beautifully. With the Abbie’s guidance, we learned how to reward calm behavior, redirect his energy, and build his focus. It was amazing to see how quickly he caught on. We still have work to do, of course, but by sticking to the Abbie’s advice, Finn is improving every single day. What my experience confirmed is you don’t get a Good Dog by force, you get one with praise, patience, and plenty of rewards (cuddles and treats). If you’ve got an excitable pup and want to build a relationship based on trust and love, I highly recommend Barkley’s Training Academy. Finn’s tail wags in agreement. .Moreexpand_more
We’ve used Barkleys Dog Training Academy for a few classes now and really appreciate the trainers experience and knowledge when it comes to dog training and behaviour. Their ethical and force-free approach is what every trainer should strive for, and using reward-based training and positive reinforcement is something we learned and fully embrace even now with our dog to get the best from her. Fully recommend Barkleys for anyone looking to use one of their wide range of training programmes.
I chose Barkleys Dog Training Academy in Wakefield for training my Labradoodle because they are passionate about using force-free, positive reinforcement and reward based methods to help dogs thrive. The team were fantastic and my dog responded really well to the positive training and really importantly it helped us make a really strong bond with her. My dog is now a happy and well behaved pup!
We first got involved with Barkleys to help with a strong, pulling Labrador. We worked with Abbie and she taught us how to use positive techniques and different approaches to get it so he will now walk lovely. We have also been to some of their classes with both my boys and then done the scent detection course which my lab loved. If any courses come up in the future that either of my boys would benefit from we’d not hesitate to book them on. They both now attend daycare and I have no concerns leaving them there as I know they are in the best hands.
