Great cottage in a great setting near to the harbour. We like being in the centre of the old town and this cottage couldn't be better placed. Comfy accommodation for 5 of us and there is a storage room where we could securely lock our bikes away. Would use this cottage again with no hesitation.
We stayed in Awd Tuts cottage mid Feb for 4 nights. From the initial booking enquiry, payment and getting to the cottage, all went smoothly. The owners acknowledged and confirmed everything at all times and they were always on hand on the phone when we called them. (before booking). They also send out full step by step directions to enable you to find the cottage easily. The Awd Tuts cottage is nearly 400 years old and is a listed building. It's made out of stone and has oak beams in most rooms. The place was warm and inviting and close to all amenities. The owner called us after we had arrived to ask if all was OK and to ask did we need anything which we thought was a nice touch. Not many people bother to ask once you're in and paid. The location is excellent and I'm sure we will use this cottage again. We would recommend to other potential guests. From us, a 5* break.Moreexpand_more
Charming cottage, quaint location. Everything you could possibly need for a self catering holiday. Suitable for couples or family with children, even safety gates included for toddlers. Very comfy beds. Small harbour beach so close. Ideal for kids when tide out. Helpful communication from Mike and Louise would thoroughly recommend, Only downside is getting a car space, if you are patient then no problem. Recommend parking voucher from Tourist Information, useable in most car parks in and around Whitby.
Have now stayed at both cottages which are both excellent with regard to their facilities and ambience. The old cottage couldn't be nearer the beach or the lovely old town of Whitby (which has some of the best fish and chip shops! ). The new cottage is in an ideal location also, right next to the river with plenty of wild life who frequently call round for breakfast. We will definitely be returning for our third visit.
Ideal location in old Whitby. Very inviting as the heat hit us on opening the door. It was freezing outside. Freeview TV and DVD player in lounge. Extremely comfortable beds. You know some places have old worn out mattresses well these must be brand new because I slept better than I have done for ages. I thought about stealing the matress. (joking). I would stay here again anytime.
Just had a 4 night break at Awd Tuts. We took advantage of a 'cheap offer' whereby we got extra nights for free. Apparently there are always offers there at this time of year. The cottage was clean, warm, had good beds and was in the perfect location for us. A1 attention from the owners. We were not disappointed at all. Great stay.
We took an offer whereby we got 2 free nights for purchasing 4 nights accommodation. We thought good value, clean, good matresses for an exellent sleep and the perfect location. Just found out they do offers usually in Nov/Dec/Jan so keep your eyes open. Even without the offer we'd have been well pleased.
We have stayed in both of awdtuts cottages and both although very different are of high standard and clean. The new one, Riverside Cottage overlooks the River Esk and smashing scenery. The older cottage which was built in the 1700s is different again having that old character to it. For us they were both excellent and we would stay in either again, especially if the offers are on again in the off season. Our best to you.
We took a cut priced offer from the cottage offers page and got fantastic value for money. Clean and comfortable cottage, we didn't want for anything and the owners went out of their way to ensure we were comfortable with no problems. The cottage is very cosy and warm and we would go back again anytime.
Riverside Cottage is in a superb position overlooking a scenic part of the River Esk. We've seen seals swimming upriver, Herons flying by and on a night have heard Owls and Foxes screaching. My kids loved it and there is also a rustic playground nearby. We ate breakfast on the balcony every day in the sun, it was perfect. Would be a great place for couples too. We thought the price was very good value as we've stayed in much dearer places that haven't been anywhere near as good - or as clean for that matter. Deborah.
