About Apt-Solutions
Apt-solutions carries out Air Pressure Testing (also known as Air Permeability Testing, Air Leakage Testing, Air Tightness Testing) in South-East of England. Air Pressure Testing is used to find out how much external air leaks into the new dwelling through holes, gaps or cracks due to poor construction or building design. We test all new builds from houses, flats to multi dwelling apartments. We have been involved in many projects ranging from solo builds to larger sites with multiple dwellings. We carry out our work professionally and all equipment is UKAS calibrated to enable us to be accepted by building control.
What we require from you before the actual test is carried out are scaled architectural drawings and SAP's maximum air pressure test score. The architectural drawings will allow us to work out your dwellings envelope area and volume, as this is required for the computer software to work out how much your building leaks air when the test is run. The actual test involves a large fan mounted in a external door opening and then the building is usually depressurised. Whilst the fan is running you can walk around the dwelling and often feel drafts on the back of your hands usually by skirting boards, window frames, loft hatches, pipes leading into lofts etc where air is leaking into the building.
We are usually on site for 2 to 3 hours but it depends on building complexity on how long the set up process takes. The setup process involves taking internal and external temperatures, barometric pressure readings, erecting equipment and sealing all trickle vents, extractors and any open fire places etc. The actual test only takes about 10 minutes and we can tell you there and then wether the building is passing or failing. However we factor in a whole day on site just incase there are any problems, this involves us locating the air leakage areas and allow you time to fix them. Once rectified we will run the test again.
If time is crucial, we can usually email you the report and Air Permeability Test certificate on the same day of the test. We always encourage potential clients to get in contact in the early stages of the build to take advantage of our free friendly advice as this can help passing the test first time. We offer a free competitive quote and also adopt a no pass no fee policy.
