I had a wonderful afternoon with Anjula. When I arrived everything was in its place and we were able to start immediately. The atmosphere was relaxed, and everything was explained in simple terms. The food was wonderful. My kids loved it. I have already cooked at home using the skills I learned with Anjula. Will consider an advanced course in the future.

Best course my husband ever attended! Yesterday my husband attended a cookery course with Anjula Devi and I was so lucky to be able to share the excellent food he prepared under Anjula's tuition. It was absolutely wonderful, and a real feast. Both meat dishes were fantastic, and had tastes that we don't experience at our favourite Ealing Indian restaurants (one Nepalese and the other Bangladeshi). Fab rice and bread too. Also, the samosas were the best I've ever tasted, and believe me, I've tasted A LOT over the years. My husband has taken a lot of cookery courses from a variety of tutors, but when he got home yesterday with his bounty (see photo) and beaming from ear to ear, I wasn't surprised to hear him praise Anjula as the best tutor he's ever learned from.

We booked a taster session with Anjula as a Christmas present for four of us. From the moment Anjula welcomed us at the door to her goodbye it was a great experience. We learned so much, not only about spices and Indian cooking but the beauty benefits of many of the ingredients as well. Cooking in Anjula's own kitchen made it a very personal and unique experience and we left feeling that we had made a new friend.

I did the 1/2 day course with my 12 yro son in Anjula's home and can simply say that you have not had great Indian food until you have tried Anjula's ! We learnt how to cook a Masala base from scratch and then on finding out we had planned to share our results with friends that evening, Anjula adapted the course on the fly so that my son prepped a Butter Chicken curry for his friends and I cooked a hotter Chicken curry for the grown ups. To complement this we also cooked Onion Bharji's, a Dhal, a potato and vegetable curry, Samosa's with (mint and yogurt dip), Mango rice, Cumin rice and Chapatti's. I don't normally like Dhal or potato curry but these were sensational and I frequently find Bharji's greasy and tasteless rather than Anjula's crisp and flavoursome ones! Anjula was a great and enthusiastic teacher and is clearly passionate about sharing her knowledge and experience with others and I can't recommend enough that you do this course! All your prep work and chopping is done so the focus is purely on learning about the spices, bringing together all the flavours and cooking amazing dishes.

I was given a private lesson as a gift from my boyfriend. Best birthday present ever! I loved every minute of it and the time went so quickly. Anjula is so talented and patient, an amazing teacher. There was no time wasted chopping ingredients, everything was prepped and I arrived 30mins early! I learnt how to make masala paste from scratch, which was then used for make a chicken curry – which was adapted to what Anjula had planned for me to make as I told her of my love for Butter Chicken since travelling in India. In addition to planned dishes we also made a dal for a work “Food Day” – it was outstanding and matched those I had tried all over India! Anjula is truly lovely and makes you instantly feel welcome in her home. I would highly recommend her courses and will be looking to book another one with her sometime soon!Moreexpand_more

Recently did the 2 hour taster course with Anjula. Have done many cooking courses and this was definitely one of the best - both in terms of what was learnt and the enjoyment factor. Anjula is great, and the delivery of the course is informal and open yet very thorough. Her enthusiams is infectious, and her approach is informal yet both informative and easy to understand at the same time. Really really enjoyed it, learnt a lot in a small space of time, and Im already planning to attend the more comprehensive course. Highly recommended.

I was visiting London from the US and took the half day course with Anjula. She was a joy to learn from and increased my knowledge and confidence immensely. We cooked a wide variety of dishes and learned the basics in depth. I just cooked a few dishes at home and they tasted better than I ever could have imagined being able to cook at home, so I am beyond pleased.

After finding her website online, my friend and I signed up for Anjula’s half day private cooking class at her home. (Both of us are ‘foodies’ and really enjoy cooking, but had never been taught how to make Indian cuisine. ) We had a fantastic and authentic experience learning from and cooking with Anjula. She taught and showed us many things about Indian food that simply can’t be learned from reading recipes. More importantly she made things accessible despite the overwhelming variety of spices, dishes, and techniques. We left with enough delicious food for a full dinner party and more importantly the skills and desire to recreate it all in our own kitchens. Thanks Anjula- look forward to taking another class soon!

Hurrah for Anjulaaaa! Anjula's private cooking courses are a delight, filled to the brim with fresh ingredients, sumptuous spices and a good dollop of family anecdotes, you can't help but fall in love with both Anjula and her recipes. Anjula is both a fantastic host and teacher. We arrived to a warm greeting and the amazing smell of spices! I had booked the half day Vegetarian class for my boyfriend as an anniversary present as he loves Indian cuisine, but neither of us are very confident cooking it at home. Anjula showed us how to make her Dad's special masala base by dry roasting spices and then adding them to wet ingredients in the pestle and mortar. We learnt how we could adapt this base and make so many different flavoured and textured dishes by the addition of coconut, tamarind, tomato, yogurt to name a few. We made 4 different lentil and chickpea curries, 2 vegetable curries, vegetable samosas, cumin rice, yogurt chutney and had lots of fun making chapatis (so simple now we know how! I will never buy them again). We left with all the food we had made, which was enough to feed at least 8 people, a goody bag with spices and pulses and a ton of knowledge! Anjula, thank you for the most fantastic day, we feel so much more confident cooking curries and are looking forward to hosting our first Indian dinner party on Saturday!Moreexpand_more

I've just had a 1-on-2 lesson with Anjula and my father, and I can honestly say it's one of the best food experiences I've ever had. Anjula herself was a great teacher, so kind and generous, and what we created is the best Indian food I've ever tasted. I learned so much in my time with her and am so excited that I'll be able to recreate these dishes at home. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her to anyone else and might be returning as a student myself at some point! Thanks Anjula!

Well what a fantastic day we had! I was bought a one to one cooking day for myself and my partner for a 40th Birthday present and I couldn't have been more pleased! We spent over 5 hours with Anjula, learning about spices and their uses, not only in food might I add but how good they are for the skin and various ailments. The mundane chopping and preparing was already done for us so the time could be well spent cooking a number of dishes to include 2 meat curries, Cumin rice, 2 different types of samosa, a chickpea dish plus lentil dhal, pakoras, chapatis and dips. All of which we took home to share with friends and family. Anjula had also prepared laminated copies of instructions, recipes and the ingredients for us to take home to re create any Indian dish we might want…. Wow! Very impressed with her knowledge, passion, teaching skills and overall personality that she puts into her cooking. I would definitely recommend this to anyone wanting to learn how to create some amazing indian food. Thank you Anjula.

Wow! Really good. My expectations were pretty high but Anjula still managed to exceed them. I had a 4 hour 1:1 doing Indian Vegetarian cooking. I'm a senior citizen, a bit of a foodie but just beginning to cook and with no experience of cooking Indian food. During the session, following a demonstration of the item by Anjula I prepared cumin rice, chapati, dal, vegetable curry, samosa, black chickpea curry. Masala paste involving about16 spices and 6 or so wet ingredients. Don't panic - Anjula also showed how there were workrounds that kept to quality an dintegrity on an occasion of returning home from work, feeling tired and wanting something to eat soon. One of the reasons so much could be covered was the pre-preparations by Anjula and the efficient kitchen layout. So the individual spices were already laid out in individual small bowls so no time wasted in searching for materials etc. Throughout, Anjula was expert, enthusiastic and most helpful, working at a pace I could cope with and answering my many questions. After the session I was emailed with the recipes so I didn't take notes, again a time saver. When I booked the course I thought it quite pricy but having done the course it was value for money and fairly priced. In fact I took home with me so much food that it would probably have been value for money even if I had had no instruction. I'm sure I will follow-up with another course and unreservedly recommend Anjula. Michael.Moreexpand_more

My daughter and I were bought our lesson as a Christmas present, so don't know if it was value for money! (had a busy year hence why we were so late doing it) have to say we both had so much fun and learnt lots too, it was an amazing experience and I'd recommend it to anyone, just wish I had more time to put into practise what I learnt! Can't wait to do the advanced course.

What a fun, informative and tasty way to spend an afternoon! Our focus was on vegetarian food and I created, tasted and took home a wide range of delicious dishes that I feel really confident to replicate in my own kitchen: lentil curry, vegetable curry, samosas, chapatis, mint and coriander chutney and the most delicious (and simple) rice ever tasted! The time flew by as Anjula and I chatted and cooked - a fantastically relaxed and informal time. I would highly recommend Anjula’s school - having tasted today’s dishes, my young sons have been clamouring to learn their own dishes with her! Thanks for a great afternoon Anjula!

My wife and I decided to have an Indian cooking lesson together for a fun evening out. Anjula was incredibly helpful and attentive in helping each of us make a dish to our own taste - my wife is a vegetarian. She picked up that i'm a huge fan of chapatis and gave us some flour as a freebie to take home and cook with. Highly recommend.

I had a private vegetarian cooking lesson with Anjula; loved every second of it. No time wasted chopping ingredients … we got right down to the detail … how to make masala paste from scratch, and from it … a vegetable curry, some daal, and a chickpea curry. We also make potato samosas chaat, puris, and rice … all this in 4 hours from fresh ingredients. So much lovely food to take home too - this last week and a bit I have been so well fed ? . Anjula is lovely too; so relaxed and easy to get on with. Highly recommend … what a great way to have spent my birthday. Thanks Anjula.

We had Anjula and the team come over for a BBQ event catering for 27 adults and 11 children. The children had a dedicated entertainer (yes, thanks to Anjula), cooking was live and on show for all of our guests, the aromas inspired hunger and Anjula and the team were extremely nice people to talk to! The food catered for Indian and English palates alike. Everyone raved about the food and in the words of one of my guests (who happens to be a social secretary at work and knows a thing or two about events) ". This was the most awesome barbecue ever,". I cannot recommend Anjula and the team highly enough. Extremely special.
