Andy Turnbull Guitar

Andy is a great teacher, I started with him over a year ago and feel that I have really improved. He is extremely patient and makes lessons interesting. He also sends a short video going over the lesson which is a brilliant reminder. I would highly recommend him.

Andy is a great teacher. My son has been learning to play the guitar with him for a couple of years and he really enjoys his lessons. With Andy he has learnt a number of different styles and techniques and is making great progress. Andy is engaging and knowledgeable and I would throughly recommend him to anyone who would like to learn to play.

We are taking guitar lessons with Andy. He is nice with kids, knowledgeable, and patient. One of the best teachers my son ever had. I warmly recommend.

I have been struggling to take my guitar playing to the next level for some time as I have always been self taught. From my very first lesson, Andy was able to identify techniques that I could improve upon which is massively helping with my ability. I contacted Andy so he could help me progress as a guitarist, and I can honestly say this guy knows his stuff, Andy explains theory and practical in a way that is very easy to understand and digest. I always leave every lesson feeling like I have learnt something new. He provides a good amount of resources for you to self-study outside of the lesson with homework for the next lesson. I would 100% recommend Andy.

I have been studying classical guitar under Andy Turnbull since October 2019. Andy is an excelent eacher. Very patient and encouraging whilst also professional and skilled. He has a high knowledge of musical theory and is an accomplished guitarist in many styles. Due to the Covid lockdown Andy has had to provide lessons via Skype, however this still works well and I dont think it has diminished the quality of the lessons or effectiveness of his teaching. I highly recommend Andy as a teacher for all ages and levels.

Andy has taught me for several years and has helped me through all of my acoustic guitar exams from grades 1-8. He helped me massively with improving my technique and also my confidence. Could not recommend enough!

When I started guitar I knew nothing about it, I came across Andy 5 years ago and had one lesson with him. From that moment I knew he was the best guitar teacher for me. His lessons are fun and informative, the techniques he teaches me and tips are easy to grasp with how he describes it, he’s told me about the music industry and what happens and he’s just an all around great and funny guy, since then I’m still taking lessons with him 5 years later and not once have I ever thought about stopping lessons and going to someone else. Could not recommend him enough and I’ve gotten so much better at guitar from him!

Andy is brilliant. Call him. I can't recommend him highly enough. I spoke to him even before I bought my guitar and he gave me great advice on what to buy. I've been learning with him for a year both in person and by video call and I'm still loving it. He's totally patient and encouraging which is great for a complete beginner like me.

Andy is an excellent guitar teacher and I feel so lucky to be taught by the best! I am an adult learner starting from scratch and Andy is always immensely patient and encouraging, even when it takes longer than it did in my youth to grasp things! In addition, his sense of humour and friendly, relaxed and enthusiastic approach have made lessons very enjoyable right from the start and I always leave lessons on a high and feeling motivated to practice. I cannot recommend Andy highly enough.

Andy has been teaching my two boys (aged 9 and 7) for a couple of months now and they love learning guitar with him; always patient and encouraging he makes the lessons engaging and fun and the boys always look forward to them. Andy is a top man and guitar tutor. Every bit as good with the theory as he is with the practice of guitar playing. He can teach and perform various styles. Outstanding.

I've been learning flamenco guitar with Andy now for getting on for a year. I've played guitar all my adult life, 20 years or so, and never had lessons. He has corrected years of bad technique, improved my timing, and got me playing things I never, ever thought I'd be able to play. His passion for the style is really clear and he's introduced me to a some great artists from the past and present. Andy also teaches my six year old son, who similarly thinks he's awesome. Really great manner with kids and my son loves his lessons and is really motivated to practice.

Been going to see Andy for lessons since October 2017having been self taught for over ten years I went looking for professional guitar lessons in Newcastle and I have to say he has helped me come On leaps and bounds in 5month from music theory to licks and riffs Andy is a great teacher and good lad he has a vast amount of knowledge on everything guitar and theory couldn’t recommend all you budding guitarists to Andy Turnbull enough.
