About Aileen Ross Counselling and Psychotherapy
With 18 years' of extensive professional experience Aileen Ross offers counselling/psychotherapy to individual clients and couples in Glossop, Marple, Tameside, High Peak and surrounding areas. She offers clients supportive, non-judgemental and confidential space to help explore difficult issues. She has wide-ranging professional skills to facilitate long-lasting life changes and has been nationally registered as an independent therapist through the UKRCP for more than 18 years.
Also a Senior Accredited BACP Therapist for 18 years, with a humanistic person-centred approach to working with clients, Aileen believes clients have awareness to know what they need, and inner strength, energy and abilities to make changes. However, she also knows people need encouragement and external motivation to help make changes permanent, so she sees herself as a facilitator of clients' change, being curious alongside them, helping to ask the questions to get to the heart of what may be causing their concerns at this time.
With highly skilled extensive professional experience over 18 years, working with individuals and couples across a wide variety of counselling settings, Aileen Ross has wide-ranging therapeutic knowledge and skills, to help with clients' current difficulties or concerns.
Over this time she's accumulated more than 13,500 individual and couple client contact hours, and an additional 3,000 hours' experience of supervising other counsellors as a Senior Accredited BACP therapist.
Clients tell Aileen that whatever their issues they find she has an empathic understanding of where they are in their lives and intuitively knows how to facilitate their healing, change and personal growth.
As an integrative therapist, she draws on a number of other counselling models to work uniquely with each person, including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy and Stress Reduction (MBCT / MBSR), Gestalt, Transactional Analysis and Psychodynamic therapeutic skills.
Aileen works with clients with wide-ranging issues in their lives, including anxiety, panic attacks, stress, work-related issues, low self-esteem, depression, anger management, bereavement, and abuse amongst many others. She also works with couples in relationship counselling.
Aileen Ross works in the Glossop area and is able to offer therapy to clients from Tameside, Stockport, the East Side of Manchester and also out to the Derbyshire Peak District. She sees clients through a number of different referral methods, including GP surgeries, private referrals, company referrals, NHS clients, and through the voluntary sector.
Aileen is a down-to-earth therapist who's warm, empathic and easy to talk to about difficult issues. She believes people need to be in touch with their full range of emotions in order to feel 'alive'. However she also knows they can easily shut down their feelings when afraid. Therapy can help lift this fear and anxiety to lead more peaceful, fulfilling lives.
Aileen Ross has been a Senior Accredited member of The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) for two decades, and reaccredits her professional experience each year, demonstrating her continuing training and self-development. She is also a UK nationally registered independent counsellor, ratified for more than 18 years on this register by the UKRCP.
Both these national registers are a recognised stamp of approval for Aileen's experience and training over two decades to become a highly thought of professional therapist, trainer, and supervisor.
Aileen carries professional and public indemnity insurance to a higher level recommended by her professional association - the BACP. She holds the current, newly-formed Home Office Disclosure and Barring Service's Criminal Records Enhanced Disclosure (DBS) - 01.12.12 (replacing the former CRB enhanced disclosure) for working with vulnerable adults or young people.
