I attended a half day photography course on Saturday and found it very useful. It makes much more sense having a person explain all the settings to you than trying to read the manual! Hopefully I can put what I learnt to good use now and stay away from auto more often.
I thoroughly enjoyed Craig’s photography workshop in Croatia at the end of December. I arrived as an absolute beginner, and gained a huge amount of skills and knowledge during the one-day course. The course itself was delivered in an interesting way that captured my imagination. While there were basic skills I obviously needed to learn, it was very much tailored to me and my requirements. I chose Craig’s workshop as I wanted to learn about photography ‘on location’ rather than in a classroom environment – to put my new skills into practice immediately. Ultimately, chunks of the course had to be delivered in the classroom to build knowledge and understanding. But Craig is passionate about his subject matter, which really comes through in the workshop and inspires you to be creative with your own photography. I very much liked Craig natural style of teaching. For me, photography has to flow in order to capture the best pictures. Yes, you need to learn the text-book stuff, but Craig was able to deliver this in an interesting and informative way. He also gave practical examples to re-iterate the message when there was a technical aspect that I didn’t grasp instantly. Craig is able to adapt his style to suit the individual’s personality and photography requirements, which ensured I got maximum value out of the course. The area around Dubrovnik is absolutely stunning and I will definitely be returning to take even better photos once I’ve mastered all the skills I learnt on Craig’s course! Thanks so much Craig - I will be recommending you to all of my friends who enjoy photography and want to progress.Moreexpand_more
Craig Derrick’s photography course provided undoubtedly the most useful four hours I have spent with my camera. Just having someone to explain my camera’s functions better than the manual and to give practical guidance towards achieving better results (using his own spectacular photography and including explanations of how various photos were taken) was inspiring. Craig did this superbly so many thanks for an afternoon well spent.
I recently attended a half day workshop. Craig was friendly and very helpful. The workshop was enjoyable and informative. As a result of attending the workshop I am now better able to use a range of camera functions and 'fully automatic' mode should be a thing a of the past!
I was actually given the workshop as a gift, and am so glad I finally got around to taking part. The location of the workshop is easy to find, and lovely and relaxing, and both Craig and Katrina put me at ease as soon as I arrived. Craig is clearly passionate about his work, and made the information easy to take in. I feel a lot more confidant using more than the manual settings on my camera now. The only thing is that family trips now take a whole lot longer while I play around to get the perfect photo. My husband declares himself a camera widow and I look forward to improving, and have the disc to refer to when I need.
The 1-to-1 session I had with Craig on Fri 18th October was extremely worthwhile; the opportunity to discuss a wide variety of topics relating to my photographic activities was invaluable and I came away from the session feeling that I had learned several things and become better-informed about others. I'm sure this increased knowledge and understanding will help me take better photos. I would commend Craig to anyone wanting to get more out of their photography.
Really great way to begin understanding what you can do with a camera, lovely people, very easy to understand and they did a great job of translating into a language that even I could understand some of the key and very useful basics that you need if you want to take goo pictures. Thank you.
A big thank you to Craig and Katrina for making my daughter's 17th Birthday very special Craig took some beautiful photo's not only of Nicole but off all her friends. Everyone has commented on them as to how lovely they were. Katrina was very professional in setting the scene and made the girl's feel realy relaxed. I would have no hesitation in recommending them. And their prices where exceptionally reasonable. Photo's to keep for life thank you both so very much. Jane Gillman.
Just completed a 1 day 1:1 workshop. Both Katrina and Craig were lovely hosts for the workshop, putting me at ease and making me feel welcome. The course itself was bespoke to my needs and Craig talks with such a passion around a range of subjects it felt more like a conversation than a lesson. He patiently went over and over items I could not readily understand and mixed theory with practical examples with ease. I highly recommend to get the most out of your camera!
Excellent half day private workshop/tutorial attended today (2/8/13). I'm a safari tour operator and take many wildlife photos but embarrassingly in 'auto' mode. Craig has helped me to wean myself off auto in just a few hours! Very easy to follow, relaxed atmosphere, could ask anything I wanted about my Nikon's functions, how to improve on the pictures I have taken, what buttons to use and when. Highly recommended.
I really enjoyed the 1/2 day photography workshop as gave me the confidence to operate my camera and operturity learn about the aperture and shutter speed of the camera although at the time the information I obtained was hazy. I found there was so much to learn in three and a half hours as I scribled my notes from the lesson feverishly. However Derrick was very helpful in showing me how to set up the camera for crowd shots. Overall a good introduction on learning about how to set up the camera and giving you control on what photos you want to take. I'll consider going on a days workshop in the future.
I attended the 1/2 day workshop and thoroughly enjoyed it. Craig was very easy to understand and didn't bamboozle us with technical jargon. He provided some welcomed advice and tutoring and I feel that I have come away knowing a great deal more about my camera and photography as a whole than when I went in. Thank you very much to Craig and Katrina. Hope to see you again soon. Kind Rgds. Helen.
I recently attended a half-day photography course with Craig and found it extremely useful in helping me to understand my camera and how to think through taking a photograph in different settings to attain the best image. Craig explained everything clearly and simply so it was easy to understand. It was an enjoyable, informal afternoon whilst at the same time was very professional. Both Craig and Katrina are welcoming and friendly, and Katrina is brilliant at keeping in touch and providing all the information you might need.
We were very pleased with the unobtrusive work of your photographer, the quality of the results, and the speed of delivery of the photos taken at the Wodehouse brunch at the Cheltenham Cricket Festival. The choice was excellent, and my granddaughter and I are delighted to obtain these souvenirs of a happy day at a pleasant venue.
