About Actuate Personal Training


Actuate Personal Training specialises in helping clients get fitter, stronger and moving better.
APT offers dynamic, functional and sports-specific training to everyone, from those who want to lose some weight to weekend warriors to pro athletes.
Actuate PT is available to clients throughout the Tunbridge Wells area, at their home, in a local park or at the Gym in the town centre.

Actuate PT offers a range of targeted fitness services, all of which include a free half hour initial consultation. This consultation is used to define clients' goal(s) as this is what will motivate the client to succeed.
Whether you're looking to improve your triathlon time, prepare for your first marathon, lose some body fat, get in shape for a fun run, get your legs ready for the ski season, lose weight for a wedding, improve your bone density to offset osteoarthritis, reduce your chance of heart disease or simply take up a sport, Actuate PT will help get the desired results.

Luke Thompson is a Level 3 qualified Advanced Fitness instructor and Personal Trainer with Lifetime Health and Fitness, with specialist training in the following areas: Sports-specific training, Sports nutrition, Functional fitness, Advanced gym instructing, Nutrition and weight management, Food science, Psychology of eating and dietary analysis, Training older adults, Alternative environments, Fitness testing and assessment and Health screening.

Luke is a 5th degree black belt in Taekwon-do, a qualified International Instructor and a coach for the Vision Taekwon-do Association.
Luke is registered with the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) and has qualified in sports first aid (asthma, CPR, sprains and strains, bone, muscle and joint injuries etc).

Luke has also recently qualified as a Strength and Conditioning coach with KBT Education.

Actuate Personal Training has a growing group of customers, situated around the Tunbridge Wells area.

The company is managed by Luke Thompson who has been teaching Taekwon-do for many years.

I hired Actuate Personal Training to help get me and my wife us in shape for our wedding. Luke devised a weight-lifting gym plan to compliment our other exercises (Taekwon-Do and Clubbercise) and advised us how to change our diet. We both enjoyed each and every session and more than achieved our goals. In particular I found weight-lifting very helpful with shoulder ache (I sit at a desk all day). I would recommend Actuate Personal Training to anyone no matter your goal.

Having tried many a times to find a workout regime that I'll actually enjoy and stick to, I finally turned to Luke last year and honestly, it's the best thing I could have done! Luke is extremely knowledgeable, friendly, professional and patient. He has tailored workouts to suit me and whilst it's always hard work, it is thoroughly enjoyable. I initially signed up for one session, with the idea of refreshing every 6-8 weeks, but have ended up with a fortnightly session since. I would recommend him to anyone without hesitation.

Actuate are really the only personal trainers that I've stuck with and seen real results. Detailed work out plans are provided which give me lots of variety, but also focus on some core exercises, which enables me to see progress over time. When I started I wasn't even able to do one full chin-up, now I'm knocking out 20 and it feels good! The plans also give me the confidence to go to the gym on my own and not worry about not knowing what I'm doing, or that I don't belong in the free weights section - so I don't immediately head for the cross trainer. I couldn't recommend them more.

I have been training with Luke for the past few months and the results are clear. I needed a personal trainer as I was looking to lose a little weight and improve my fitness. I had also just had minor operations on my knees and needed to improve my strength. I struggle to keep motivated, but with Luke’s help, I have improved my fitness, lost a lot of body fat and gained muscle.
