We purchased a truck from them 18 months ago and we have had minor issues with it right from the beginning, some larger issues also, Non functioning handbrake that doesn't stop the truck (there engineer said this is how it should be apparently which doesn't make sense), battery doesn't hold well, we use it for only 1-2 hours a day and sometimes we don't even get that out of a full charge. The handbrake fell off at one point and they wouldn't send someone to fix it, we had to pay a welder to come and reattach it, it also sometimes just stops accelerating and you have to pump the gas a few times to get it to move. Very poor work from them, truck was never up to standard and now after 18 months the truck has completely died and they are refusing to help unless we pay them more money for an engineer to come out. Not a good company to work with and I highly recommend that you look elsewhere unless you want to pay £8K for a 20 year old truck plagued with faults that will break on you.
Firstly sent out a machine unfit for purpose wouldn't even go up the ramp at our work place and the battery was flat, The driver who dropped the machine off said this wasn't the first time this has happened and will not be the last. Keary is the most unexperienced sales man to walk the earth, That's ok though as he is the bosses daughters otherhalf. Numerous delays cost us a lot of money eventually when the new machine did arrive I thought great nice looking machine, was I wrong. Complained to the main boss Craig Warren about issues after receiving a bill for transportation that was never included in the original sale of the machine if it was we would have paid no worries at all, Nothing was ever done. We have since had the machine serviced by a reputable company after having no luck with the main boss here is there findings below. Following on from my engineers visit to carry out the service on your forklift truck it was found there are some repairs that require attention. These are listed below with a costing. 1- Both tilt rams are leaking and require re-sealing, to do this we would remove the tilt rams from the truck, take them to our supplier to have resealed and return the following day to refit. This would be £100+vat per cylinder reseal and £156+vat labour to remove cylinders, take to supplier, collect from supplier and refit. 2- Right hand indicator is inoperative and the right hand front side light is inoperative, these require investigation as to why, this investigation will be £39+vat, once the fault has been diagnosed we can then quote for a full repair accordingly. 3- Side shift ram is weeping, currently observation but if it gets worse it will need resealing. 4- Both rear tyres are low on tread and require re-cutting, this is the last re-cut available on these tyres. This is a fixed price of £74+vat. 5- The right hand fork is bent, this requires the pair replacing. This will be £248+vat for the forks. 6- The steering orbital is leaking and requires resealing, this will require the orbital to be removed, taken to our supplier to be resealed and then once ready collected and refitted. (potentially off the road for 2 days) this will be £125+vat for the reseal and £117+vat labour to carry out as long as done at the same time as the tilt rams. 7- There were multiple exhaust and inlet manifold bolts loose that we have already secured for you. 8- The bonnet release cable is missing its handle and requires replacing, this will be £68+vat for the release cable and £39+vat labour. 9- The starter motor disengages sometimes before starting the truck, to replace this will be £129.19+vat for the starter and £78+vat labour. 10- The radiator water looks rather brown and has lumps in it, this could do with having the water drained out, refilled and run rad flush through the system to remove all debris and coolant then drain and refill with a fresh coolant mix, this will be £15+vat for the rad flush, £24+vat for antifreeze/coolant and £39+vat labour. 11- Both rear wheel bearings have excess play and require stripping, cleaning, inspecting, repacking and readjusting. This will be £15+vat in consumables and £78+vat labour. If the wheel bearings are too badly worn we will then quote to replace them. Parts - £898.19+vat.Labour - £546+vat.Total - £1,444.15+vat.I am washing my hands with this company as the boss is clearly out to take your hard earned money laughing all the way to the bank and looking at the reviews this isn't the first time. We are due to get another machine and we will certainly not be buying from Ace handling. Be sure to read the terms and conditions never supplied to us may I add on your warranty as it isn't worth the paper written on £500 maximum for any 1 claim and must be serviced by there engineers, Good 1 that is as they wouldn't report any of these said issues. Main point to this review is to make others aware not to do business with this company definitely not to be trusted.Moreexpand_more
I needed a fork lift truck for my retail business and the Managaing Director visited me on site to recommend a vehicle. I was so impressed with the customer service I purchased a JCB from them. I am very pleased with the customer service from payment to vehicle handover and follow up. Ace Handling is a top quality company with excellent staff and products.
****FURTHER UPDATE*****FURTHER UPDATE*****FURTHER UPDATE***All faults have now been rectified to a high standard, on site, by Pete, ACE's service technician. This included a new radiator & reconditioned side shift ram plus new hoses etc. All parts & labour F. O. C. In addition, they sent 2 LPG cylinders plus some touch-up paints. My faith in ACE Handling has been restored for standing by their product. I would recommend & use them again. Thanks to Jayne, Pete & Craig. END UPDATE*********UPDATE*****UPDATE*****UPDATE*****UPDATE*****UPDATE*****I have received a telephone call from the Managing Director of ACE Handling, Mr Craig Warren. On learning of my troubles with one of his refurbished machines is sending an engineer to correct all issues listed below without cost to myself. Any delay in correcting these issues is due to myself & ACE Handling are working to my schedule & convenience. I will update this review again when work has been undertaken. At this point my faith in ACE Handling has been restored.END UPDATE****I purchased a refurbished LPG powered TCM fork lift truck from Ace Handling. It was delivered 13th October 2015 with 5299 hours on the hour meter and cost £10,200.00 including VAT. I chose to use ACE Handling as they were particularly helpful with advice and information to aid in us choosing the right machine for our purpose and it came with 12 months warranty and 12 months Lola certificate. Our use is very occasional but we cannot operate without one. The forklift was equipped for our purpose with container spec mast and side shift. When delivered it looked really smart with its new paint, tyres and decals. Many of my Customers thought it was brand new and it certainly did justice to our new workshop. Now the not so good bits; Within a few days and less than an one hour of use the side shift was leaking hydraulic fluid on the freshly epoxied workshop floor. Good bit; ACE Handling had a technician out immediately to fix the problem which he initially did. Credit to him, he tested it well before me signing and he leaving. Now more bad bits; We noticed 'streaking' on the paint work down the side. On lifting the engine cover we found the battery case was split around the terminal and leaking electrolyte (acid). The engine cover support strut was heavily rusted/contaminated with acid residue. I reported this to ACE Handling but got a negative response and replaced the battery myself for the sake of £40.00 Next we noticed the machine tyres 'screeching' on the floor and was scratching the new floor badly. On looking the machine over, the steer wheels were tracking out of line causing the tyres to drag. We found the track rod ends were loose on the steering ram as the lock nuts had not been tightened. I reported the problem to ACE Handling although we had to correct this ourselves immediately by re-aligning the wheels to parallel and tightening the lock nuts. The side shift ram is now leaking again. We found small pools of coolant on the workshop floor. At this point we have used the machine for 19.5 hours (clock reading 5318.5 hrs) We reported these problems to ACE Handling and were informed that we have to pay a £100 call out charge to inspect these leaks. As technicians ourselves (marine and automotive), I told them I would pressure test the cooling system and let them know our findings. We found the radiator has a split seam and requires replacing. On reporting this to ACE Handling I was told that radiators are not covered under their 12 months warranty. On reading the terms and conditions of their warranty (which I should have done prior to purchasing the machine but was so tied up with the premises move), there is not much that is covered. Sometimes to have to trust someone don't you? In fact it reads very much like one of those used car warranties. Unless the machine turns to dust it is not covered. Even then there is regular mention of that famous phrase 'fair wear and tear' to very much exclude everything. I should also mention this warranty has a maximum payout of £1000.00 which we all know will help very little if an engine was to go 'phut'. So I will be replacing the radiator myself. A replacement core is little more than their call out fee. Will I be using ACE Handling to service our fork lift? No, as I have seen first hand the standard of their 'preparation work' and their 12 months warranty is worthless. Will I purchase from them again or recommend them to any business associates? No, certainly not. Greg McAllen.Moreexpand_more
