AyeWood Ltd have been working with AB Architects for several years and, as many tradesmen will tell you, you are only as good as your last job. All Colin's jobs are carried out to the highest quality standard possible, he cares about what he does and the result is obvious in the finished result. Colin's rates are slightly less than the going rate but he gives you so much more than you would normally get for the going rate. He's a bargain and an undiscovered secret, until now. It does help, when you are doing building work if you actually give a **** in the first place and I can safely say Colin does that and much more. We stake our company's reputation on his work and sleep well at night.
So far our experience with this company has been very good. I contacted them based on the reviews on this site. We interviewed several architects but eventually chose this company. Reasons - Colin (the architect) listened to us, offered ideas and provided us with highly detailed plans. We are about to start our build ~ September but I can honestly say that the service so far has been excellent. Having had past horrendous experiences with builders we also decided to secure Colin's services to manage the build. I will post a further (v honest) comment once the work is underway. Fingers crossed! .
Having lived at my current property for 13 years we were quite happy with the layout of our traditional tenement flat. A twin pregnancy later we had to decide whether to move or convert our one bedroom flat into a two bed with internal kitchen. I was for moving my husband was keener to convert. I went along with him bringing in an architect to appease him and to be 100% sure we were doing the right thing in this current climate. After Colin (architect)came out to see us I changed my mind very quickly. He put my mind at rest re. The hassle/mess factor explaining that the project would be completed on a stage by stage basis and that there would not be as much disruption as I had anticipated. (He at a later stage provided a stage by stage plan to be followed by the builders). We were also unsure about the layout of the kitchen as I am in desperate need of a dishwasher. No matter what design my husband and I came up with we could not seem to fit it in .Again Colin said he would have a think about it and get back to us.He not only did this but actually provided detailed plans of a usable kitchen and included a storage hatch in the kitchen roof, something we need and had not considered. He also within a short space of time, came back out to see us to double check measurements to ensure the plans he was going to draw up when submitted would be approved by the city council. The clincher for me however was the old scullery space we were in debate about.Should we go for a small ensuite or a walk in wardrobe? Colin went through the pros and cons and when we finally decided on the walk in wardrobe he designed it for us, complete with shoe rack and hanging rail space. We can not recommend this firm enough both for the level of service we received and the extra amount of work that was put in.Moreexpand_more
We had been considering the conversion of our garage into an extra room for some time, but were reluctant to begin the project due to the hassle factor and the expense. After consulting AB Architects, however, these concerns were blown away. AB Architects were extremely professional throughout the project. From initial consultation, through negotiation of design and planning, continuing on through the delivery of the commission, we received the highest quality service possible. The design, drawings, and general support were excellent. We compared the ideas and finished results with neighbours' experiences of similar projects and without a doubt our conversion is the most effective. AB Architects offered us an extremely competitive rate alongside exceptional advice regarding the design features of the versatile space we were looking for. We were also highly impressed at the aftercare service supplied by the firm. Colin ( principal architect) was very careful and methodical about all aspects of the project, resulting in an improved living space in our home. We would highly recommend this business. .Moreexpand_more
After getting 6 architects out to view my property, AB architects were the one I chose to go with. We just wanted a small extension to the back of our edwardian sandstone house, which would incorporate a sitting area off the kitchen, a utility and an en-suite. There were some constraints as we had a feature period stairwell window that we didn't want to lose and also we wanted to still have room to turn our car. Out of all the architects, AB Architects came up with the most design options (other firms said we were wasting our time), actually listened to what I was asking for, and managed to do a design which was within our budget and would definitely add value to our home. The architect (Colin) was also very easy to get on with. It was also a bonus that he was by far the cheapest architect. Once we had agreed to go with them, the level of service Colin provided continued to be excellent. Any queries I had were answered within hours by e-mail. The drawings are of a really high standard, with meticulous detail. Colin actually worked out the calcs that an engineer would normally do, saving us at least £500 on an engineer's report. All in all, I would have no hesitation recommending AB Architects.Moreexpand_more
