Returning to Scotland for a family wedding / vacation, we had to find the right sized car for 4 adults with luggage. 4x4 Hire recommended their Discovery 5 and "guaranteed" that our luggage would fit - they were right! From being able to transact via WhatsApp, dealing with a last-minute change of pick-up location and the professional yet friendly service at both collection and drop-off, we had a very positve experience. 4x$ Hire are thoroughly recommended and we will definitely use again on future trips home. This is the second time we have hired a vehicle from 4x4 Hire (Scotland) Ltd and, as on the first occasion, everything went perfectly. From choosing the vehicle to returning it to Edinburgh Airport, including delivery to our hotel in the city centre, absolutely everything went perfectly. Bottles of (Scottish) water and mint sweets are provided with the vehicle. There is even an umbrella in the boot (but it hardly ever rains in Scotland…). They are a trusted partner, very professional, attentive to their customers and offering the highest level of quality. Communication with Jack and his teams is direct, simple and efficient. The vehicles meet our expectations, are in very good condition, and it is a pleasure to drive on Scottish roads in a Range Rover Defender. I recommend them 200% and am already looking forward to our next trip to Scotland (2026? ).

I rented a Toyota Hi-Lux for a coast to coast trip. The service from start to finish was excellent. Really responsive communications from end to end and a range of options explained. All very clear. The car was delivered and collected from our door which was very convenient and was in excellent condition inside and out. The terms of hire were explained clearly and the booking process simple. All in all excellent service from Jack and the company. Would definitely recommend.

Our family of four utilized the services of 4x4 Hire Scotland, LTD for a week's journey from Inverness to Edinburgh. Jack and his team were extremely responsive from start to finish and very thorough in explaining the different options available to us. The booking process was very easy. When we arrived at Inverness Airport we were immediately met by the local 4x4 representative who escorted us right to our vehicle. The car was clean, very comfortable to drive and we had no issues whatsoever throughout the week. When it came time to return the vehicle, the representative met us in the city to collect it when we were ready. It could not have been easier or more convenient - we highly recommend 4x4 Scotland for your car hire needs!

I needed a Land Rover Defender for a wildlife photography trip to the Isle of Mull. 4x4 Hire provided an excellent 110 with plenty of room for all the camera gear and was a pleasure to drive. It took me everywhere I needed to go without any problem. Parts of Mull can be a bit tricky to negotiate but the defender took it all in its stride. I will be using 4x4 Hire again when I need a 4x4 I can rely on to get the job done. Mission accomplished.

The highly professional service provided by Jack Buchan at 4x4 Hire (Scotland) Ltd has been exceptional from start to finish. The reaction time following my initial enquiry was impressive and particularly so given the urgency on my vehicle requirements. A magnificent and immaculate Defender 5 was delivered direct to my house (and collected) which offered loads of room and comfort. I resaerced a lot of companies to rent the Land Rover Defender and ultimately selected 4x4 based on the professionality of their website and response. And I was right to do so. We were met at the airport, the car was in good nick and very clean. Any question thay we had during the journey was quickly answered. Return procedure was quick and professional.

We began our 28 day rental ( land rover 110 County Wagon) with a very nice, humorous introduction and walk around of the vehicle with Scott and we were off, after stalling it just once …I quickly found out the first day that proper foot wear is important as my hiking boots were not suited well to the pedals, changed them the next day and all OK , first lesson learned…Only one call was made to Scott to figure out how to adjust the seat, I knew what the lever was for, but couldn't get it to move, didn't want to break anything, answer just pull a little harder, worked perfect, second lesson The vehicle worked perfect the entire trip, no issues at all, super visibility, sits high and that is what we wanted for our 2300 mile NC500 adventure ( a little bit more than the standard 500 mile ! ) I can't think of a better vehicle to have rented for this mission or the company we rented from ( I'm a Land Rover LR4 driver at home in Canada) single lane roads, no problem except when the camper vans tried to take over the roads! OH, the 110 takes 2 acres to turn, my first time parking it into a space would have made a good Youtube video, after that learning curve, no problems, third lesson learned. The scenery we experienced in Scotland rivalled any we have seen in the World, honestly. But the terrain was a bit of a challenge for THIS driver to manage the energy and power of the 110, but with proper diving techniques keeping it in the power curve even the longest and steepest hills are manageable, oh did I say the driving experience was also one of the highlights for "my" trip, was a little further down the list for my wife, but she agreed this was the perfect choice, so much for us gear heads. The fuel milage I thought was pretty good, didn't calculate it really, just finding a petrol station in the " Far North" is a challenge sometimes, so never went below 1/2 tank or 3/4 tank before refilling. Lastly, and this important folks, I would like to thank Jack Buchan and his team for helping these two seniors ( or concessions, whatever that means) to arrange this rental and put it all together for us, very good, thanks a lot. These people are very busy so give them lots of time when you rent, we contacted them 5-6 months before our trip so we got the vehicle we wanted, they go fast, at least from my experience. We travelled to Scotland for work and were required at very short notice to source a vehicle - specifically a top marque 4x4. Following a quick call and WhatsApp with Jack and James - 2 hrs later the Range Rover was delivered. When I say their service was exceptional that's an understatement, they were flexible, reasonably priced but most importantly delivered exceeding expectations.
