Great selection of pianos and lovely owners. You can ask them anything and they will answer. They even sent round the removals team to check/quote if a U3 could be taken upstairs but they profesionally advised that it would be a challenge and suggested going for a U1 size. We saw a nice YUS online and I'm sure it would have been fine to just order online but being quite a big investment, we felt we should make the trip down to the London showrooom (inside big yellow storage) to play and compare the pianos side by side. We then ordered the YUS and it was delivered by 3 strong men to our 1st floor lounge. It's definitely worth it from grade 3/4 onwards.
I am so pleased we decided to use Mark Goodwin Pianos. They were knowledgeable, incredibly responsive and inspired confidence from the start. We felt certain that if there were any problems, they would put things right. Fortunately, there were no problems as they provided a fantastic service, as did their colleagues at PIANOSPEED who effortless collected our old and delivered our new instrument. If only all transactions could be like this!
Excellent advice throughout the process, crucially helping to make the right choice in this important decision. Really good London show room, where one can book a session and test pianos undisturbed. The detailed guidance on the web (piano descriptions, explanations, stock listing) is extremely good and to a level that I have not seen elsewhere. Lifetime warranty and first free tuning are additional features that make MGP pianos and outstanding choice.
I cannot rate Mark and Julie high enough. They're were incredibly approachable and helpful throughout the entire process. Their post-purchase support was amazing too and they went above and beyond to ensure that I had the perfect piano for my home. I would unreservedly recommend them to anyone looking to buy a piano.
My U3X piano arrived just about three weeks ago. In a bid to present a balanced review, I shall tell you the negative as well as the positive sides to my MGP experience. What don’t I like about Mark Goodwin Pianos? For a start MGP has caused me to wish my life away (well, six weeks or so of it anyway) as I wait for my beautiful, gorgeous, lovingly and professionally restored U3X to be tuned! Also, I don’t like the fact MGP is in London or the other side of Manchester to me when it really ought to be located in my town so I can visit often! Mark, you would only need to slightly adapt the signage of a big empty space In Northwich if you moved into our now closed down Marks and Spencer store! Finally, I didn’t like the fact that the very nice free mug of coffee I was given when I visited the showroom on my birthday wasn’t self heating to prevent it going cold whilst I had a go on all the fantastic pianos on display! Think that’s about it for the negatives. The positives? Too many to list, but because the showroom is by appointment only, there was not the usual problem found in music shops of trying to get to a piano to try it out, or wishing some other pianist would stop playing The Entertainer so loud on another piano whilst I try to hear what I’m playing. Then there’s the amazing number of pianos to try out (did I mention that they are all lovingly restored to a pristine “brand new” finish?), the fabulous communication before during and after with Mark and Julie who, it has to be said, have a depth of experience and knowledge way beyond anything I’ve come across before… My wife and I met Julie on the day we visited; the women got on so well that I was left with freedom to play pianos for a couple of hours! And what a lovely, gracious person Julie is too! The patience she showed as I asked loads of questions and continued to do so by text and email before I finally placed my order. Indeed, I first corresponded with Mark in 2012 when I asked a few questions about pianos… Just took me eight years to finally buy one! Finally, the amazing expertise of the piano removal firm Mark and Julie use… WOW! Were we impressed?!? You bet we were!Would I recommend Mark Goodwin Pianos? Absolutely, completely, totally. I LOVE MY PIANO… Thank you Mark and Julie.Moreexpand_more
I bought a 1989 Yamaha U30BL from MGP June this year. Never having owned an acoustic but always having wanted one it was a big purchase for me and I looked round a lot of places, including new pianos at the Yamaha store. Mark and Julie were instantly helpful answering all my questions, hugely knowledgeable and convinced me that a reconditioned Yamaha was the way to go - I don't regret it at all! Superb advice and I've ended up with a beautiful instrument and that sounds fantastic and is a joy to play. If you want a piano - especially a Yamaha - Mark's your man !
If you need a piano, absolutely go to Mark Goodwins, they’re just fantastic and they really look after you from start to finish! The service has been excellent, they’re incredibly knowledgeable, flexible, communicative, price-wise they are super competitive and you really do get plenty for your money. Would recommend in a heartbeat.
I had a silent kit fitted to my piano, 6 months later during its regular tune my tuner noted a small issue with how the silence kit was fitted. There’s was no messing about from mark Godwin’s, they asked my tuner to correct the error, and forwarded me the money to pass on. Really impressed.
I recieved a warm welcome at my own private viewing appointment by Julie and Chris the Technician and was given demonstrations on the full range at the Oldham showroom. My experience was very helpful and informative and I have since taken a very timely delivery of my piano with no issues at all. The post sale service has also been very good, with keen help available to arrange for my tuning which was included. Overall, very happy customer who would strongly recommend Mark Goodwin Pianos.
If you are looking to buy a YAMAHA piano do not look any further MGP will get you a decent piano with reasonable price. Trust them 100 percent. My wife and I decided to buy a piano for my 7 year-old son so he can start practicing and learning this mesmerising instrument. After research a lot I have finally decided to get a second hand Yamaha piano from golden age. Completely by chance I came across this family run piano shop. Due to my busy life I was not able to go and try the piano myself and had to ask them to pick a nice sounding piano for me and I am glad that I did. Mark and Julie have taken care of everything they recommended a very beautiful Yamaha U3 with amazing tone. Julie was on our side through out the whole process. She was so prompt, organised caring and helpful that honestly I couldn't ask for more. I have exchanged tens of emails and she was absolutely amazing till the last minute. Delivery was very smooth and uneventful by Mark's dad and his team. My entire experience with Mark Goodwin pianos was very joyful and stress free from a to z. Since then my son has started his piano lessons and now our home is filled by delicate sound of this piano. Even piano guru like Marcus Robert from robertpianos in Oxford endorsed this piano when I sent him a sample video. My son's piano teacher also love its rich sounds. If you are looking to buy a decent piano get in touch with Julie and trust her recommendations fully. At the end I want to thank Julie, Mark and rest of their team for all their kind upport and top notch service. You guys have a fan here.Moreexpand_more
As a bit of a novice, I was overwhelmed trying to find a good quality Yamaha U1 or U3 for my young family. I thought I would never find decent service, until I came across Mark and Julie's website! Other websites or eBay sellers gave hardly any information regarding tone or specific age of piano. I tried asking them for further info on pianos I was interested in, and received very short (and just generally unhelpful) replies! This was of course not the case at all with Mark Goodwin Pianos. Their service was exactly what I'd been hoping to find from a piano seller -- friendly, and with detailed stock lists of the pianos I was interested in! Each piano listing has its own video attached, of the same piece being played, so you can actually compare pianos side by side without having to visit the showroom! Still to this day I have not found another seller that offers this online. I have no idea why!More great things about Mark and Julie's website and service:- speedy and detailed emails back and forth while trying to decide which piano was right for me- best prices for model and year compared with any other seller I found, and this is with Mark offering pianos which look and feel brand new due to the excellent reconditioning standards. - great guarantee, free first tuning, extremely quick delivery, what more could you ask forFinally, my family has a beautiful piano we know will last for years to come. It looks brand new, and feels wonderful to play. We had a 30 day free trial, but of course wouldn't dream of sending it back. Thanks very much Mark and Julie, you could not have been more helpful, and we are very happy customers.Moreexpand_more
Our son spent hours trying all of the pianos, as this was one to last a lifetime, and the staff showed him around, and left him to play them all. He narrowed it down to a couple - no pressure, lots of advice, and he eventually chose his favourite - and it was delivered and installed exactly as arranged, and very professionally. It sounds amazing, and he is now heading for Grade 8 with Gusto!
We are very happy with the piano we bought at Mark Goodwin. Sometimes our daughter gets worried about playing in front of others. She was able to try out a range of pianos in a relaxed environment – Alex was very kind. Julie and Mark have been helpful throughout and their advice on the website was great too. The piano Sophie chose has a lovely tone and she is really pleased with it. Thank-you.
I decided after years (decades? ) of saying "I'd love to learn piano" to finally take lessons. To do this I needed a piano, and I'd never bought one in my life. After much looking around, asking lots of questions and not really knowing what I was looking for, I finally came across Mark Goodwin Pianos. Mark and Julie immediately made me feel welcome and were warm, friendly and informative. They understood that a piano purchase is a big decision and were very patient in answering my questions and concerns. For sentimental reasons I wanted a piano that was made the year I was born (don't ask! ). They had one just arrive in - a big imposing Yamaha U3 - and were able to expedite the tuning and get it sent out through fantastic couriers from Manchester to London in just a few days. When it arrived I really couldn't believe how amazing it looked. Everyone who has seen it comments on how 'new' it looks. Of course, as the piano is a little mature (like myself!) it wasn't completely without issue - there were a couple of squeaky keys that needed fixing - but Mark and Julie sorted these quickly through a great local piano tuner, free of charge as part of their warranty. The fact they were just as interested in customer service AFTER the piano was sold and in my home speaks volumes. The piano looks and sounds beautiful, so much so that I never want to leave it alone, which is exactly what you need when taking up this instrument! I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Mark Goodwin to anyone looking to buy a piano. You won't be disappointed.Moreexpand_more
We bought a Yamaha YUA 3491805 piano from Mark Goodwin on 31st January 2018 which was delivered on the day requested. We were given a free tuning which has recently been carried out. We were delighted with the service and knowledgeable advice given to us by the staff, and were assisted by a lady technician who was able to give us considerable insight into the benefits of the manufacturing details and technical requirements of these fine pianos. When my daughter decided to set up her own studios in the town centre I wanted to give her a good quality piano to go into her new premises. This has now been installed and she has had nothing but compliments and praise from her pupils for her new instrument, which not only looks classy and stylish, but sounds it too.
I purchased a Yamaha U3 from Mark Goodwin Pianos. I was able to make an appointment to view all the pianos in the showroom and was allowed to stay as long as I wanted to try them all and find the one I liked best. Delivery was easy to arrange even with my very difficult availability, and two weeks later the piano was in my Manchester Apartment ! So pleased. Would definitely recommend anyone looking for a good quality piano at great prices to check this place out.
I was wary about spending so much money on something without trying it in person but don't have any local piano stores. Julie was exceptionally helpful by email, sending me video clips of each piano she recommended for me. She didn't pressure me into making a purchase at any point which I appreciated. Payment and delivery were straightforward and the delivery company were very professional. I'm very happy with my new piano, it's absolutely gorgeous to play. Thanks!
