Description

The Potteries Adventure House.

A boutique, modern Staffordshire stay combining Stoke-on-Trent's pottery heritage with a fun family/group experience.

I would not make the entire house look like a pottery museum. Instead, use a consistent premium base design and create 2–3 memorable spaces that make the listing stand out.

Burslem has a strong ceramics identity, while the wider area gives you family/leisure demand from attractions such as Waterworld and the nearby Alton Towers market. Visit Stoke highlights Burslem's pottery attractions, and Alton Towers Resort actively targets family short breaks and groups.

I would lay out your specific house like this:
? Lounge ? The Boutique Cinema Lounge.

This should be your main "wow" room.

Add:

65–75" TV.
Large comfortable sofa.
Feature wall behind the TV.
Warm indirect lighting.
Forest dark green walls.
Ceramic lamps/accessories.
Popcorn machine or stylish popcorn station.
Board games stored neatly in a cabinet.

Theme: Cinema + luxury Potteries styling.

This photographs far better than a standard grey sofa and TV setup.

??? Dining Room ? The Potteries Supper Club.

Your dining room is separate from the lounge, which is an advantage.

Create a space that feels like somewhere a group actually wants to spend an evening:

Large dining table seating 8 comfortably if practical.
Statement pendant light.
Big mirror or heritage-inspired mural.
Mismatched-but-coordinated ceramic plates/bowls.
Large artwork referencing Burslem's bottle ovens or ceramics.
Console with a coffee/tea station.
Colour palette.

Warm cream + terracotta + cobalt blue + black/brass details.

This is where you can strongly sell the group/family experience.

??? Bedroom 1 ? The Signature Suite.

Make this your premium hero bedroom.

Look: Boutique hotel.

Best king-size bed you can fit.
Large upholstered headboard.
Crisp white hotel bedding.
Terracotta/clay-coloured throw.
Two premium bedside lamps.
Full-length mirror.
Large ceramic-inspired artwork.
USB charging on both sides of the bed.

This room should appear in your first few Airbnb/Booking photos.

??? Bedroom 2 ? The Cobalt Room.

Go slightly more dramatic:

Deep cobalt blue feature wall.
Cream bedding.
Brass accents.
Blue-and-white ceramic artwork.
Stylish reading chair if space permits.

This gives the property a recognisable visual identity without being overly themed.

??? Bedroom 3 ? The Family Adventure Room.

This is where I would target the higher-value family market.

Depending on room dimensions and guest capacity:

Double bed + premium single bunk bed arrangement, if the room safely accommodates it.

Use subtle adventure details:

Framed Staffordshire attraction map.
Fun luggage hooks.
Children's books and games.
No branded character wallpaper.

That keeps the house useful for both families and adult groups.

??? Downstairs Bedroom 4 ? The Garden Room.

This is a very useful selling point because it gives you a ground-floor sleeping option close to the bathroom.

I'd style it calmer and more luxurious:

Sage/olive or soft clay walls.
Hotel-style double bed.
Black-framed mirror.
Plants.
Premium bedding.

Market it as ideal for multi-generational families or guests who prefer not to use stairs - without making accessibility claims unless the property genuinely meets the relevant standards.

?? Kitchen ? Modern, clean, premium - not heavily themed.

Don't overspend on themed decoration here.

Prioritise:

Excellent coffee machine.
Matching mugs and glassware.
Good wine glasses.
Enough plates for maximum occupancy plus extras.
Large cookware for groups.
Attractive tea/coffee station.

A £300–£500 investment in making the kitchen feel exceptionally well-equipped can improve reviews more reliably than decorative clutter.

?? Lobby/Hall ? Create the “arrival moment”.

Your entrance is important because guests see it immediately.

I would add:

A large sign/artwork saying something like:

Welcome to The Potteries Adventure House.

Underneath:

Stay. Explore. Make memories.

Then add:

Large mirror.
Bench.
Coat hooks.
Boot/shoe storage.
Local illustrated map.

This immediately makes the property feel like a branded accommodation experience, rather than simply "a house for rent."

?? Yard ? This could be your biggest opportunity.

The floor plan shows a yard, and I would seriously consider turning it into a small private courtyard retreat.

If budget allows:
Privacy screening.
Outdoor dining table.
String/ambient lighting.
Artificial greenery or quality planting.
BBQ area.
Outdoor games such as giant Jenga.
My favourite addition:
An outdoor covered social corner.

A simple pergola-style structure with lighting can photograph extremely well.

I would prioritise this over filling every indoor wall with themed decor.

What I would NOT do.

? Full children's theme throughout the house.
? Every bedroom a different random theme.
? Cheap "industrial" signs saying things like EAT and SLEEP.
? Too much pottery decoration.
? Turning Bedroom 4 into a games room and losing a bedroom.
? Very dark décor throughout the whole property.

With 4 bedrooms, your capacity is a major commercial advantage. Keep all four bedrooms.

The exact concept I'd use.
THE POTTERIES ADVENTURE HOUSE.
A Boutique Staffordshire Stay.

Core design:

70% modern boutique hotel.
20% Stoke/Potteries heritage.
10% fun family/group experience.

Colours:

Warm ivory.
Clay/terracotta.
Cobalt blue.
Forest green.
Small brass accents.

Much more distinctive identity than the typical serviced-accommodation formula of grey walls + grey sofa + generic beds.

There is already 4-bedroom accommodation competition in the Stoke-on-Trent market, including 4 Bed in Stoke-on-Trent and King's Retreat by YourStays - 4 Bedroom House in Stoke-on-Trent, so I would focus on making my photography and listing instantly recognisable, rather than simply furnishing it to the same standard as every other 4-bed house.

My goal is specifically to increase nightly rate, my budget priority would be:

£££ Highest priority.

Excellent beds and hotel-quality bedding.
Boutique Cinema Lounge.
Signature Bedroom 1.
Professional photography.

££ Medium priority.
5. Potteries Supper Club dining room.
6. Attractive courtyard.
7. Coffee station and premium kitchen equipment.

£ Lower-cost, high visual impact.
8. Feature walls.
9. Statement artwork.
10. Branded entrance.
11. Ceramic lighting/accessories.

Don't call it a generic "Luxury 4 Bed House." Brand the experience around The Potteries Adventure House. That concept fits the floor plan, preserves all four bedrooms, works for families and groups, and connects naturally with Burslem's identity and the wider Staffordshire visitor market.
